In this video i show you how to "iron on" the sheeting for your large or complex shaped RC airplane wings.

That's exactly the way I've been doing it for the last couple of years. There are those that wouldn't believe me!

The madman at work! Thanks for the awesome demo video. I've always heard about this process but have never tried it because I wasn't 100% sure of how it was done. Now, I can't wait to try it. I appreciate you taking the time to show all of the steps. Take care buddy!

LoL Phil, i’ve learned you cant take to many yay-hoo’s comments to heart bc they are quick to criticize and extremely slow to ever show their personal experiences.

Too true , Mr W , Speed of light , verses Speed of sound. Some people look really smart.......Until you hear them speak !! lol

I've heard this process of ironing glued pieces together after the glue has dried as "polymerization".
@seamuscashin26068 ай бұрын
The glue you are using is not a contact glue , wood glue works grain to grain not glue to glue
@txkflierАй бұрын
That's the most unorthodox method I've ever seen. Plus, I don't see how you could glue the wing skin on like that without building a twist into the wing. What's powering the camera? If it's a power supply, the output has too much ripple..
@invertmastАй бұрын
Unorthodox, but i have used it on multiple airplanes and it works very well. Camera power supply was a battery.

information. at :30, a water-based glue should NOT be used, for the making of a flying model.!!!!!!!

You’d be amazed at how well it works and how many people use titebond to build models. It works extremely well. Personally i am a CA and epoxy glue guy, but this titebond iron on method, it works amazing. Ive even crash tested a model that used this exact method and the glue joints never failed, but the wood around the joints did.

at 19:19, and the result is a sheeting pattern that makes ZERO sense. you are so short-on knowledge. lmao
@invertmast3 жыл бұрын
Well Mr. Davids. The sheeting pattern was selected to make use as of much of a 4”x48” sheet of balsa as well. This structure and sheeting pattern was cad designed and fea analyzed in Solidworks to provide the highest strength to weight ratio utilizing the materials. Short on knowledge is something no one has ever said to me when it comes to designing, building and flying RC model airplanes. That said, i appreciate your comment and look forward to a more constructive dialog with your personal experience on how my sheeting layout could of been better based on your knowledge of a project that involves about 30 minutes of your time when i have been working on refining it for over 4 years.
