@@jeepmanxj Meh, I've got brushless RCs, but electric never captured my heart like nitro did. Electric RCs still to me are kinda like something you can buy at Walmart. It's hard to put into words the way I really think, but that is the best I can come up with. When I was growing up, I'd see an electric RC and think "ohh, they bought that at Radio shack" and nitro to me was "they must have spent days building that". Electric just don't give you the adrenaline rush the nitro does. It's like have a V8 powered weed whacker or a weed whacker tethered to an extension cord.

@@SebastianLong Don't know. I enjoy the longer run times, lower maintenance, faster more powerful , and cleaner stuff. To each their own. I still enjoy my 1/5 scale in 2 stroke gas though.

@@jeepmanxj Longer run times is debatable. I can run my nitro Revo for 2-3 hours just with one quart of 33% nitro fuel. 30 second fillups vrs at least a minute to change out 2 batteries for a 6s system. My nitro Revo also isn't all that slow, 45 mph out of the box stock. My 6s UDR does 50 mph out of the box stock. A very short run with a very lean setting on the nitro and the Revo pulls away from my UDR. Both can be regeared. My Revo only runs on a 2200 nihm battery to work the servos and that only requires a 20 minute charge time. Charge times on a lipo on the exact same charge rate will take close to an hour for a single 6 cell or two 3 cells. Yes, there is less maintenance for electric as far as the motor goes. Maintenance is still required to keep any RC running smooth. So, when it comes down to it, the only separation between the two is the noise. It sure isn't the speed, aside from electric accelerate faster. Electric are limited though. To big a pinion and you will overheat or even thermo meltdown a motor or ESC. Also limited in voltage via specified ESC can handle. If you still think electric is faster, check out some drag races via KZfaq. You might be very surprised.

@@SebastianLong I can crack an hour run time per pack, carry multiple batteries in my pocket. I also looked up some rc drag racing. 99% of it was electric. Go figure 100% torque from the start and lighter package. I've been running electric vehicles for 15ish years. I've had some stupid setups and a tc4 that would push 100mph that includes the weight of a fair sized GPS transponder at the time. I also had a fg modellsport that would blow past 70 without a sweat. The fastest nitro RC vehicle I know of is shy of 130. The record of all time is 202 made by an electric vehicle. I can also tell you I've never burnt down any electric vehicle. I've smoke a ton of novarossi and os engines. You also are fundamentally misunderstanding charging of Nimh cells and lipo cells. You are NOT using the same charge rate. A nimh cell can be charged at higher amps than a comparable lithium cell. My 5000mah packs charge at 5 amps, some of them can charge at 2c which means 10 amps. A nimh cell can be charged at a much higher amperage. However you get much more fade as the battery drains, you can't pull the amps from them like a lipo, and they are larger and heavier.

Oh I don't even show a fraction of the tumbles those things take. The Go Pro flew off multiple times and tumbled at 35mph! It's been amazing. This is without any kind of protection for it or anything!

helmet mount with double sided tape either on top or on front windshield depending on what your body allows. Then Gorilla Tape it down even more all around the base. Then glue the hinge to make sure it doesn't fall forward.

Yes, batteries don't have an infinite lifespan, especially if they weren't properly stored. (Storage mode) So a new battery would be your best bet to start with.

RTR is entry level but plenty enough to have some fun with. The MP9 is a good platform overall. I don't know what electronics they have installed in it. Mine is geared to go around 40-42mph so it still performs well on a track. You can try to gear up (Bigger pinion gear) But be cautious of motor temps. Also in the future could perhaps upgrade electronics. (Again, i'm not sure what it comes with.) But I use a Tekin RX8 Gen 3 with the 1900 Redline Gen 3 motor for reference. Enjoy

My local retailer has recommended the following: wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/264721/ currently there is a 13T pinion in there and they said I can put a 17T pinion with a cooling fan for the engine. In time, I can spend some more and put in the new electronics. Is yours capable of beating that intro model in the video?

Meaning someone actually driving fpv? I’m sure you could find something but true fpv cameras don’t yet have the stability of the GoPro for off-road use IMO. Would be too shaky.

Actually been running a higher diff setup lately. Ran 12-12-7 at this event.

So much has changed. There are still a few loose loamy tracks out there but especially indoor many are hard packed and smoother. But outdoor many can still get rough. Cars are also so much more durable than they used to be. :-)

At this track I was 12-12-7 in the diffs. Shocks are 8 holes, 1.2mm front with 55 and 8 hole, 1.3mm rear with 50.

If your looking for a ready to run then the Losi is probably your best option for that. If you want a kit there are many options. Welcome back to the hobby! A lot has changed in that time!

I think the Losi is your best bet for an rtr that can be upgraded with more race components in the future.

As he mentioned. We do nearly the same laps with both vehicles. Sometimes depending on jump patterns electric can be slightly faster but it's so close.

Both can turn the same lap times with the same driver. Both have positives but personally I prefer nitro for the sound and overall feel.

In the hands of the same driver we are usually within 0.2 tenths on any given track between the power plants.
