Midlands Air Festival has become a firm favourite with model balloonist, who display at the air show along side the large fleet of man carrying balloons, view our RC balloon playlist here - • Radio control model Ho...
2022 saw about 10 RC model balloons inflate and take to the display line over the 3 days of the event, some matching the larger balloons, others of unique design, including debuting this year the uk's largest a giant duck special shape.
All home constructed these miniature engineering projects carry all the same technology as the bigger balloon, just no people - strictly teddy bears and action men only.

And that's how an idea turns into a project, turns into a garage full of model balloons :-) There are some Aerostars out there, and I think the maintenance manuals gave all the details needed on panel dimensions that can be redrawn to make a model

Hey for a model balloon how long do you say the tether should be i say about 500 because the FAA has a limit to hight of 400ish feet so i consider something close or shorter. Thanks!

I'm not sure of the faa regulations (here in the UK the Caa) limit the height of operation of model aircraft to 400ft, with the normal lower limit of man carrying aircraft at 500ft this should keep model aircraft and people safely apart. But check you local regulations

That was late evening, but it would look cool to do that before early morning briefing as people arrived

What material do you use to make you balloons?

Hi 👋 these balloons are built using the same fabrics as their larger counterparts, ripstop nylon (often spare materials from the manufacturers or available on the Internet as kite fabrics). I see you posted your first video, nice. Do you plan to make the paper model you showed into an R.C. model?
