By far the funniest x-maxx video out there! Got mine 3 months ago, absolutely a blast to drive, and surprisingly handles very well.

I've had my x maxx for a year now. No major issue's with it, blew a few tires, stock body is junk, and the esc did rlly good till I drove it in 15" of snow. Rlly liked tha vid.

I bought a xmaxx last year and i love mine im bad at maintenance but i just fixed all the barrings and greased all the gears and at the end of January 2019 my esc went out but ive never loved a rc more than i love my xmaxx

Also this is the best xmax video ive seen i really been thining about getting one or maybe the arrma kraton cant decide and youve helped me a lot

It would be nice if Traxxas offered a roller Xmaxx, so you can choose your own to drop in. I did just what you said, I purchased a truck and the Max 6 esc with it. This truck is, by far, my favorite RC. 👍🏼👍🏼

Two years later, has anyone else tested the stock esc? I bought my xmaxx about 5 months ago and quite literally tear it up with no esc issues so far, wonder if the newer versions have better ESC's being the fire thing was such an issue back in the day... I do know it comes with body washers now 😉

I've been back and forth between the X-Maxx and the E-Revo Brushless for almost 2 months now. I CAN'T DECIDE!!! I like the speed and agility of the Revo but I want the ground clearance and massive size of the X-Maxx

My Traxxas xmaxx 8s first 5 minutes driving it esc burned up alot smoke came out of the truck thought it was on fire but wasn't hurried and pulled body off and esc burnt black all over literally first time excited to drive it didn't get to drive it for even 10 minutes so I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones this truck is to expensive for this, hope the new esc Traxxas sends back is better I'm for sure gonna look into max 6 esc

Thanks for the informative video I just got my new orange X max this week less than seven days old had issue with ESC where it’s cutting out my throttle which comes right back and running half power today. And then goes back to working normal thanks to you I got a Max 6 in the box already. Liked and sub’d thanks again

Im a little late to the party but Ive had my xmaxx for over a year and the only thing that has been anoying me is the pinion comes off after use every couple of weeks. But, other than that, Its really good! Edit: my ESC hasnt broken yet

Ever heard of sc1 spray? It’s used for dirt bikes and atvs, but is safe to use on plastic, gives it a nice shine and keeps the mud from sticking.

What about a Casual Xmaxx driver? I am gonna run mine on just 6S lipo”Reduced power” around the grass in my yard during dry conditions with my two kids. I really don’t want to destroy it. Maybe some small tumbles, and tiny jumps. Longevity is very important to me, while not dumping a ton of money in to the truck. I went to buy one Thursday, and they only had that funky looking Rock’N Roll color body style. So I am waiting to hopefully grab a red or orange model.

Man you could not have been more right about including the max 6 esc. Got my new x maxx two days ago with the two traxxas 6700 mah lipo’s. And not even two mins of running it, the esc caught fire and fried the receiver, esc, both lipo’s, motor, motor fans, heat sink, chassis and chassis brace. And man it left a god awful smell that is almost impossible to get rid of. Now I have to send the whole truck back to traxxas and have them replace everything. Already bought the max 6 now and will most Defiantly be running that when I get it back instead of the stock Vxl 8s esc.

I absolutely HATE Monster Trucks... but damn(!!!!!!!) the 8S XMaxx is something else. I've seen YT videos of people getting downright abusive, completely evil with them... 60+ft air... and yet.. they still keep going..Is Traxxas for real??? Parts are reasonable if you need them... and readily available too... ummm I'm a 1/8th buggy, nitro, ex racer.. so it's really hard for me to look at anything else. But this thing... and I've been frothing at the V4 Arrma Typhon... too.. what a car... 70+ MPH verified.. (STX2 radio is garbage.....sorry Horizon) There goes my budget mate hahaha HUGE cheers from Sydney Australia!

Another good method for your body is furniture polish, I use a product called Mr Sheen, not sure if you guys have it in the states, but it comes up real good, even smells nice 👍

I have diamond plating on the bed of my X-Maxx and while it does look cool and kinda protects the bed, it also bends, like did yours. For this reason i think the body might be better off without it.

I’ve had the XMaxx since the 6s version, upgraded to the 8s Kit, know it like the back of my hand, multiple tear downs, the engineers knocked it out of the park. Never had esc probs till last month, failed during a snow run. The steel stub axles are an excellent upgrade too. I Love the XMaxx

the xmaxx is the ultimate rc lol, if they make an xmaxx 2.0 the only difference will be a better esc lol. this thing id perfect.

For a body suggestion those Proline Brute basher bodies are extremely tough! Not very nice looking because they are just white and not really paintable or dyeable but tough. I don’t have one on my Xmaxx yet but I put one on my Proline Pro mt 4x4 and it’s like a hard unibody rollcage it’s tough! Great video man I’m subscribed already haha for a bit now. I’m thinking of buying the Orange edition Xmaxx for my dad so we can both run the Xmaxx trucks. He loves it. The one I have now is a 6s upgraded to 8s spec with a Max6 esc, 18/50 gearing and 24mm wheel nuts and it’s a beast of a truck.

WD 40 works good for traction just brush on tires and let sit for 4 hours your tires will be more sticky on the street

I had ESC issues with my old Stampede 4x4 VXL. Awesome truck, but it was so frustrating having the truck overheat when I was doing normal racing around/bashing

I wish i could have got the stock tires to hold up, i like how they handled. wound up getting the proline badlands with the beadlock. they work great but your chasing driveline failures for a month afterwards.

shock shafts, wheel bearings, sock spur and pinion gears are the only real mechanical weak points i have found, the traxxas electronics have always been bad since they started making vxl systems

i had to replace my ESC once in my Xmaxx, that day it wouldnt turn on, so i grabbed my Teton 1/18th as backup lol

Bought 2 myself and they are a absolutely a blast! Drove them for only 2 outings in January 2019, about 30 min total, and had multiple shocks leak and several of the large rear bearings feeling gritty. Touched base with Traxxas and they are sending me multiple shock rebuild kits, oil and bearings to assist with repairs, could not be happier with their customer service! Haven't had time to really delve into any mods yet, but I'm making lists of know parts to beef up/replace. You didn't mention anything about the steering servo upgrade (2085X), is this an issue you've experienced? Great vid though, I feel pretty comfortable with my purchase and look forward to many more!

for those looking for tips I have a great one and it'll save you a lot of money keep the thing on the ground

I'm a flyer and one my birds is a Traxxax Aton. Fantastic aircraft and am going to buy a second. Was thinking of getting the X Maxx and trying my hand at surface vehicles. The ESC goes out? For that kind of money I don't expect to have to replace it. Sounds to me like you spend more time maintaining and fixing these things than running them.

Did you need change your hinge pins after the spraying everything with WD40? I watched another video that stated the hinge pins pop out after using the muck off MO90. Awesome videos btw!!!

thats funny at the end, I use a wagon to pull people, first edition x-maxx with that 8s kit, and never had an issue with anything, i haven't beaten it up like you have tho, mine seems faster than the new version, wonder why? and im using the proline badland tires, i like the tires a lot

I changed all my screws to stainless. Cost me £10 for them all from my local fixing shop. Another good tip instead of wd40 use Gt85 instead it has more pft in it and makes it more flexible. Great video 😊
