I was in the forces over a decade ago. They definitely did things a lot differently back then. I like the new approach our military is taking to individuality and metal health. Its not necessary to have all of the same policies that we used to have. Open mindedness is key. Im going back in, very excited to potentially serve on the new Harry Dewolf class vessels.

@chrisburke624 Жыл бұрын
Not sure if this is sarcastic or not... But signing up because we are in a time (for a little while longer, anyway) of peace & security is NOT the right mindset to have. Because when events happen & you are sent into a conflict zone, or a straight up warzone, it isn't peaceful anymore. And you have to be able to operate in that environment, because that's where patrol ships tend to spend a fair bit of their time. (I'm not meaning to sound discouraging at all. Just keep in mind it is the Navy after all.)

Why can't the RCN develop a decent shade of sea haze paint that actually inhibits rust. That ship is brand new and it looks 10 years old already
@trevorlawrence310
@trevorlawrence310 Жыл бұрын
The drains on the top deck take rusty water from seacans and other things and spill out the side holes those spots are not rusty themselves just accumulated on the paint. All ships do this.

@@twocansams6335 I shit you not - decades before all this woke bulls*** even started - they did just that. At the time it was called 'Gender Reassignment Therapy' and the individual who underwent the transition stayed in the military & became somewhat commonly known in CAF circles. That was ages ago. I don't think the CAF would pay for something like that currently - who knows about the future tho

, Canada’s navy makes the most comfortable offshore “cruise ships” with the best food and best exercise facilities for its sailors. That helicopter hanger looks like some people’s garages that have lots of junk but no cars in them. Good luck making room for a chopper when you suddenly have to. The bridge is like a beautiful glass house conservatory. Unfortunately all that beautiful glass will be shattered and offer no protection when it tries to tackle any serious armed opposition and all the instruments in the bridge will then be at Arctic temperatures. I hope they have armoured steel shutters that can be quickly deployed. A 25mm gun is better than nothing but the main threat to Canada’s Arctic sovereignty is mostly from Russian and Chinese SUBMARINES, not lightly armed illegal fishing vessels and smugglers. So they also need more sophisticated submarine detection capabilities and heavy anti submarine weapons to deter submarines. This Canadian Navy “cruise ship” is only good for controlling smugglers, fisheries protection and is also only rated PC5 suitable for light ice breaking when it needs to be PC4 or better for unrestricted year-round service. For instance the US Coast Guard Polar Security Cutter Program scheduled for service in the next 3 years will be PC2, plus are a lot more heavily armed and include an Aegis Combat System. The woke Canadian government is trying to do too much with one class of patrol craft. This ship is mostly another “feel-good cosmetic”, make-work, “weaken the country”, Canadian woke government tax money boondoggle. I feel sorry for Canadian servicemen and servicewomen perennially being given tools more appropriate for fisheries protection rather than a naval vessel designed to enforce our national sovereignty rights. It’s like giving BB guns to the police to tackle armed gangs with.

They embark the helicopters as needed for deployments, as you can't legally do flight operations from pierside. The Harry DeWolf's can accept a Cyclone in the hangar and eventually we'll have 27 of them (currently its 25 as one has been lost already and 2 more of the original 28 ordered still haven't been delivered). The problem is the then Martin liberals back in 2005 didn't order enough to allow for attrition (or expect sikorsky to be so incompetent in delivering what was promised). The original number was based on the full hangar completement of all ships then in service, so 8 for the Iroquiois class DDGs (2 each), 12 for the Halifax class FFGs (1 each), and 4 for the AORs (2 each) plus 4 more for training duties on shore. Well the DDGs are gone, as are the AORs (though Asterix has hangar space for 2), and the HdW's are 1 each (for 6 total), but the two future berlin-variant replenishment ships and the future 15 Type 26 variant FFGs have the space for two each (which would combine for 40+ needed plus ones for training on shore). The USN in comparison currently has more than 500 SeaHawk helicopters to spread around roughly three hundred ships plus those needed on shore for training duties or undergoing maintenance.
