Thanks for helping this American who didn't know what he was doing, this video tutorial helped out tremendously with my marshall mg100hdfx head amp. I got it cheap so I was able to buy some purple tolex to match my newly acquired purple MG412a cabinet. Removing the skin took about an hour and re-aplying tolex took a couple of hours. Everything got done in an evening

Thank you from another American who foolishly thought "i can recover an Ampeg 8x10 easy!" In Colorado. In March. Material is already ordered. Picking up a heat gum straight away! Brilliant job! Thank you for an excellent video!

Use a punch, that’s what I used to pop out Marshall logo. A real heat gun works better, lol, but I’m really enjoying your video

celluose thinner softens the glue. it can then be scraped off.

I'm an American who doesn't know how to do this but I want to redo my JCM 900 head, I already changed the face place and my 4x12 grill.

My Cyclone is crazy complicated compared to that

The real problem is that BS is using cheap chinese builders and MDF wood and not Baltic Birch Plywood....its actually coming off clean unlike having to cover a Marshall with that black tar glue they use...

Question please ... why not use an iron + wet towel? on the flat tolex? How about a Wire Wheel Brush?

Happy new year Randy! In answer to your question: because I was/am an idiot attempting this sort of thing for the first time. Irons and wet towels sound exciting. Slightly scared of the wire wheel brush... sounds like a torture device...

@@stjohnmason90 I figured out a killer solution. Double sided tape! You can first cover the cabinet with painters tape as it will smooth the surface and has next to zero glue power. Then use thin, strips, or squares, of double sided tape to position the tolex and then you have it you can add larger pieces of double sided tape working side-by-side. For the grille I didn't bother to remove the staples ... use painters tape again to smooth that over and again use smartly placed double side tape to afix the grille cloth.

Hi Michael. I found it on Amazon (UK). Just look for ‘Leatherette’
