Great display of your talents and skills Steve. Loved the transformation from old to new. You just extended the life of those boots by about ten or twenty years…..depending on how often the owner uses them. Shine on Steve.

I don’t believe you can still buy full quill Ostrich because they have to pull the feathers while the bird is alive to create the full quill, a PETA complaint, but the bird is about to be killed so I don’t think it should have been stopped. I believe the wood pegs are lemon wood, the addition of leather on the sole was likely a podiatrist recommendation to correct his walking my dad’s boots had build up sole to correct his walking. I hope to soon buy a new pair of Elephant leather boots they’re very durable, beautiful and comfortable. My last pair was very worn after 2 sole replacements and got oil stained working on my truck and I am saving up for a new pair. Beautiful boots and I doubt you could find any new ones like them. Amazing job and I am always impressed and learning about proper care of leather shoes and leather bags which helps me keep my motorcycle bags looking good and keeping them from weather damage. Best wishes in all you do!

I don't really like cowboy boots and can't wear pull on boots at all, but I sure do appreciate the quality and craftsmanship that goes into a good high end pair. It's interesting to see the drastic difference in mass produced vs proper hand made cowboy boots and mass produced vs handmade lace up boots. You can have Goodyear welted boots with all the same parts and production steps ,but different materials / qualities With the cowboy boots though it's like the proper traditional construction vs all the various vastly different ways the mass produced boots are constructed. Basically it's cowboy boots vs something that just looks like cowboy boots, because of how vastly different the construction is on the traditional handmade boots.

I liked very much the patern on the sole and also the curved shape just before the hill. I didn't use to like it but since you explaited how it was made in another vid I kind of like it now! It gives a ni ce touch. Question: do you put contact glue (neoprene) on the wooden picks ? Ì don't think it's the way to use it ....

Hey Steve, what is your opinion on using acrylic top coat on leather shoes (like Fiebing's resolene) after dyeing them? Doesn't it make the leather not breathable? I feel like it would prevent shoe cream from penetrating the leather. I've never seen you use it so I was curious.

At about 20:34 when you're measuring the distance on the shank for the two rows of pegs, did you pre-set your calipers based on the existing rows of pegs before attaching the sole? I'm trying to understand if you're trying to reuse the original holes, or if this is setting some new holes offset from the originals.
