Chicago White Sox... the winged sock was a logo in the 1950s. The sock in a diamond started in 1990. This is a combination of the two, plus the new concept of the skyline in the background.

About your cartoony logo statement. Baseball is definitely a sport that uses logos like that EVERYWHERE. The MLB is just too professional to use them. That Mets logo would be perfect for a minor league team somewhere. That’s the type of place you would see that stuff. It would also work as an alternate logo. Also, underneath the sliding dude in the dodgers logo, the red line reminds me too much of the twins for me to like it.

The classic Mets logo is perfection, really. This one misses the city skyline. It's perfect for NY's Metropolitans, and I say that as a diehard Yankee fan.

As a dodger fan, I honestly don’t like that logo just for the fact the player has the gray away uniform. That’s the biggest criticism I have of it. Should’ve just used the white home uniform, blue socks and made the helmet more blue, less navy.

the Phillies logo looks like an old 76ers alternate logo of some sort. the Nationals logo looks like it was taken from the old Capitals logo.

The Athletics usage of an elephant as a team symbol goes back to the beginning. When the American League came into being in 1901, several players left National League teams to play in the new league. New York Giants manager John McGraw called the AL a "white elephant" and said the league would last but a few years. After the A's defeated the Giants in the 1911 and 1913 World Series, Athletics owner Connie Mack put a white elephant patch on the sleeves of the Athletics uniforms as a reminder to McGraw about his prediction. The white elephant remained until Charlie Finley bought the team in 1963. Finley dropped the elephant logo and changed the teams colors from royal blue and red, to kelly green and gold, and shortened the teams nickname to the "A's". After the Haas family bought the team from Finley in 1980, the restored the name "Athletics", switched the shade of green from kelly green to hunter green. The Haas family also brought back the elephant, but switched it from a white elephant to a green elephant.

The tigers.. reminds of their alternate that walks through the old English D, but less detailed. If you want cartoony, look at at the alternate logo from the 60's lol, then there's the meth tiger... yes Nashville wasn't the first, but detroit's meth tiger was more liked.

My beloved Cardinals got #1? Nice! Nonetheless, I agree with Neil regarding the "Busy-ness" of the logo. The cardinal might benefit from being more aggressive. However, I understand why one wouldn't wish to do that since the aggressive Cardinal is more synonymous with the Arizona Cardinals football team. What if - instead - you model the stitching of the baseball after the Gateway Arch? I think that would resolve Neil's reservations about the logo being too busy. My thoughts on some of these: Pirates - I think this is the best logo of the bunch by a furlong. There is definition and character. It looks the most polished yet gritty of the bunch. I look at this and see a lot of influence from the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. Orioles - Is this an Oriole or a Phoenix? We gotta pick a lane here. And - yes, Neil - you are totally in the minority regarding that emblem. I think it's the one thing about this team that makes them distinct from the other baseball teams in the league. White Sox - Couldn't agree more about the sock. There are better sox drawings that one can use and the wings are totally no good (FYI, my 2nd favorite team is this one). Angels - I gotta disagree with Neil on the face issue with this one. Angels are enigmatic and that expression captures it. I mean, hell, what the alternative? Happy-Go-Lucky type of angels? Super agitated angels? Rockies - I give this one a RIGHT ON. This was my second favorite of the bunch. This logo should be on the arms of the jerseys just below the shoulder. I think that it would look great there. Phillies - This logo follows the KISS rule to a T. Kiss It Simple, Stupid! Braves - NO! Just no...this is...(*Sigh*) No. Brewers - Ok, this one is tricky for me because I really adore their traditional logo. I can't say that this one is bad. It's crossing all of the boxes for me and I can see it growing on people over time. However, I'm conflicted as to whether the hardhat is adding anything to this. True, Milwaukee is a very blue-collar type of city and the hardhat conveys that. It's also true that you see plenty of people at the Miller Brewery wearing hard hats. I don't know...it's a really good start though. I'm anxious to see what more can be done with it. I see sincere potential!

Cartoony might not work for every team, but it would definitely work with the Mets, since it's Mr. Met's face, almost exactly (though they've had issues any time they've strayed from the standard NY logo). With the Padres, as goofy as it looks, the face is actually pulled directly off their original logo. The Oriole's one would work better for the Nationals (colors changed and MD flag replaced with DC), since it largely looks inspired by the presidential seal. I really like the Blue Jays one as a logo for the kid's club (like, the fan club for kids, not their minor leagues). I like the DBacks' better than their actual one (but, I also liked the Robo Yote since I first started liking hockey). Colorado is cool, but it reminds me more of a soccer crest than a baseball logo. Take the ball off the Rays' logo, and I think it would be perfect on a hat. I'm a Nats fan, but I don't feel that logo. For the Caps, it would be great, but I just don't see it with the Nats. The Pirates' is about as perfect as you can get for that team with that name. A bit too intimidating for that franchise, though. Royals is another that makes me think soccer more than baseball. I like the A's throwback with their elephant. Something about the Mariners just doesn't work for me, but I can't put my finger on what I don't like. The Brewers' works perfectly for that team, though I think you're more likely to see it on a bottle of beer made in partnership with the team. The Cardinals' is really good (I probably agree with you at ranking it #1), but their current logo is one of the best in baseball already, so any change is almost guaranteed to be a downgrade.

As a Brewers fan, that logo would be okay as an Alternate logo. Has some modern ideas with Brewers history in it and so I don't mind the look. Be not a main logo for me.

Ok Mr Neil this guy has my gene off too much but I'd take these logos for a little league teams. But overall it's not major or minor league team material and trust me I've seen worst. But logo designers will tell you to polish or simplify a logo it will get revised and liked. Good example look at the NY Jets logo. Soo many times it's been simplified and ppl like the outcome of the logo.

Anything St. Louis cardinals is gorgeous. By far the best looking uniform in mlb and maybe all of sports. I am biased, as I’m a Cardinal lifer, but you cannot have any logo of STL without the birds on the bat. We did it once years ago and it didn’t work so we scratched it. Birds on the bat is the staple of who we are. And it’s strictly the cards, so the logo here or Toronto adopting it, and STL doing away with it, would never happen.

I think all of these would be secondary logos because they typically don’t include the mascot in the primary logos
