Really nice that Wildflower Meadows sent new Queens so quickly ! Hopefully the ones that got too hot were insured and UPS paid them !

Hey Russell. Yeah, I've been spending some time on the gardens when it's cool enough outside. I got a new watering system going and it works great. I've been wanting to do a video on that. Basically pulling water out of my little creek. It's quite a contraption. I spent a good two weeks working on that thing, and still not done. I'll finish it off in the Fall after it gets cooler. Need to trench in the water lines and power lines, and put in all my valves and valve covers. Honey harvest this year should be close to one of the best if nothing strange happens. lol Thanks for watching!

Someone else probably already suggested it back when you first told us about the number tags. But if not, you could put a scrap piece of bright colored something behind the tags. Like a piece of political sign, white plastic milk jug, or something painted. Keith / St. Louis MO

Hey Mocarp. Yeah, some other folks metioned that as well. I'll probably just go with this for awhile. Someone metioned Tractor Supply has big plastic ones that are really visible with pre marked tags. I'm going to check those out next time I'm in there for chicken feed. Thanks for watching!

Hi Darren! Congratulations on the success of the new round of queens! What a good feeling indeed. For some reason a few of my overwintered colonies have been struggling with queen issues. They appeared to have successfully requeened because l actually saw their new queens. But when l went back a couple weeks later to check on the brood pattern, the new queens were no where to be seen. Instead l found more capped queen cells and some frames of capped brood as well. Kind of what you encountered with the bad shipment of queens. Not sure what went wrong in my case? Have to say l haven’t experienced that in all my past seven seasons. Please share if you have helpful ideas! :)

Hey Niki. I've seen new queens get superceded not long after they start laying. It's pretty rare, but I've seen it a few times. I remember it left them struggling to get built up before winter because it sets them back after the flow. Good luck.

So glad you were able to get some more queens sent to you . This is odd by you talking about your gloves . I finally got around to ordering those gloves after all this time. Yes they are 14 ml an I also love them.! The funny part is the first day I used them I got stung three times on my right hand an all three was in my little finger. Usually a will not sting with rubber gloves on because of the fill of the gloves but I got watching the bees to see what they were doing.they would land on the strapping that goes around your finger to hold your sleeve down so they don’t fill the rubber but stung the gloves right beside the string . As I was getting stung I laughed an said wow she was smart to land on that string . Anyway thanks for the tip they are great . I had my sister order them and I think she used the code . I got two boxes of them but forgot to get the liner . Thanks

Hi Kathy. Someone metioned to put the loop through your finger, and then put the gloves on over that and pull the cuff up over your sleeve and they can't get you that way. I tried that and it does work, but it's quite a pain to get the gloves up and over. They sting that loop all the time for me as well. They usually don't sting the glove itself, but sometimes when they are really worked up they will. I've had lots of stingers in the gloves and they won't penetrate deep enough to get you. Without the glove liners, they just might though. Good luck!

Thanks I will give that a try. Today I did not Even use the loop I tucked it under my sleeve. But I did get four or five stings in the glove BUT none got me so thanks again. Have a good week. Thanks

Hey Brian. My pond has been dry most of the year. This time of the year it will usually dry up, but the fullest it got this year was about 2/3 and it went completely dry 2 weeks ago. Bees are watering with the chickens now. lol Thanks for watching!
