My last crf250r had a problem like that cause my valves stretched i replaced them and it solved the problem

Do yourself a favor and order a hotcams shim kit. Should be the 7.48mm kit for the 250, You get every shim you’ll ever need for $60 compared to $5 a piece at your local shop. You still got a lot of life left on those valves with that big of shims still on it.

So what was the issue with your bike? I have a 07 crf250r just adjusted valves but still not running right (definitely running better). Also exhaust pipe is red hot where it attaches to engine after just a minute of idle (with choke on). Thanks man

I know this is old. But.. unfortunately, the problem with mine after all that work, was just a bad coil plug.

That's cool. I went and looked at aCRF 250 today. The guy said it runs but he couldn't get it started today. He's going out of town, so we're gonna try again in a few weeks.

Oh wow yeah that sucks. What year is it ? Around 04 is bad years for crf’s.. get a 06+

roostmx It is an 05. I think the valves need shimmed, and maybe a spark plug. Could be the carb.

good video man, my bike has similar issue, it wont start took it apart an jug seemed alright but i ordered new rings and gaskets an had to get a couple shims cuz i noticed one missing.

“Noticed one missing”? Bike would have never ran without it, so you might have lost it when you disassembled the engine. Look inside the buckets, they stick in them sometimes.

chipper442 this was long ago I somehow lost compression tho after trying to lap valves idk if it’s cuz of using the old head gasket or not I put gas in the intake and exhaust ports and didn’t see any leak out 🤷‍♂️

Yeah its my first 4 stroke race bike so maybe thats why i wanna go back to a 2 stroke

But yeah i really am its pretty easy but my bike is not getting fuel. It starts if i put fuel down in the carb. So im thinking air leak

Thanks man! I didnt think many liked watching me work on bikes, but when its all i have its all i can record so i do whatever i can, and i like to let yall know what everything is and how to do it so if anyone is new to bikes or wanting one can learn, so I appreciate the support (:

Dude clean up the ground, Get leaves and dirt in that motor and it will not be good. At least get a fold out table to have a clean organized work space.
