In 2002, Robert Plant would provide a little more detail about "Going to California", telling "Spin" magazine that the song was, “Me reflecting on the first years of the group, when I was 20, and was struggling to find myself in the midst of all the craziness of California and the band and the groupies.” The line, "The mountains and the canyons start to tremble and shake, the children of the sun begin to awake", alludes in all likelihood to the artistic community of Laurel Canyon, embodied in the late sixties by Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Stephen Stills, Jackson Browne, and Jim Morrison.

Thanks for doing what you do, Jamal. Music is the skeleton-key to our collective spirit. It takes a purity of heart and soul to wield it in such a manner as to unlock the most important doors. Your willingness to share in such an open and vulnerable way - to capture music's profound impact on you, as a person - is a gift. Know that your energy is resonating; you are carrying the torch of the only message that matters: LOVE. :-)

Misty Mountain Hop is one of the few heavy Zep numbers that I think Plant carries. His vocal power, and catchy stylings carries it. The enthusiastic oooh oooh oooh ooooh!!!! at the end of his verses just hooks you in. It's warm and haunting and lonely and bright and forlorn... it's more like poetry, straight-up. The imagery chokes me up every time. Thanks man.

I've been a Zepp fan since the day I was born and, I have to say, with all the hard rocking and blues that they play, for some reason...the ballads have to be my favorites. This one is number 1 for me!! Please check out the live version at Earls Court!! It's whole new experience to see them perform this song

Zep 4, is one of those albums that, due to massive over familiarity, I could go a lifetime without hearing again....expect for this song. Absolutely gorgeous, and has always been my favorite from the album.

Wow. You are the man. Have to watch twice to make a comment. Love how you enjoy 50 year old music. Robert loves the Mississippi delta blues and has been to the graves of several of these great artists

I love how you're such a big fan of Led Zep now! And, I say THANK YOU. So many of their songs don't get much airplay anymore, so watching you hear these songs for the first time is so much fun for an older fan (late 50's) and reminds me of just how great those songs are.

Led Zeppelin IV is one of the all time great rock albums. My personal favorite song is "Battle of Evermore"". Heavy Tolkien references, haunting yet mesmerizing instrumentation, incredible lyrical artistry.

Imagine a band that could do this song and a song like “Rock’n’roll” and “When the levee breaks” on the same album. Heads up “mobs dick” is primarily a drum solo.

Bruh i love watching your Zepp reactions. I equate it to a child learning to crawl. Pulling yourself up to walk then running to the door. You open it to be embraced by the sun that warms your soul and welcomes you.

Home Free has a new one I think you'd go crazy for. Home Free ft Don Mclean "American Pie". Don still sounds amazing after all these years and Home Free delivers with amazing harmonies and each solo is perfect. Thank you for this reaction. This is totally rad! 💗

I always loved this song, it has a light airy feel to it and an optimistic outlook, which is needed because it comes just before the heavy blues of 'When the Levee Breaks' (another song I love).

Headley Grange, a grange is a farm, was an estate owned by Aiestair (sic) Crowley, a person of some renown on his own, he called himself the most evil man alive. Crowley was into Black Magic, Satan Worship, Drugs and anything or anyone else he could get his hands on. His motto was "Do what thou wilt." Led Zep had that phrase etched into original LP copies of Led Zeppelin III, near the label. Of course, the most famous song for audiophile is When The Levee breaks, for which the drums were recorded in the front entry hall of Headley Grange to get that distinct sound.
