Alex Trebek was a legend. So wholesome and kind as a host, with just enough sass to make us laugh. It was a kick in the gut when I saw his announcement about his cancer, and hearing about his decline and eventual passing was heartbreaking. And seeing you react to all this just made my day :)

Yeah they had little Jeopardy games in school because everyone didn’t necessarily watch the show but probably seen it once and understood the general concept. My grandma likes watching it cuz she learns a lot from it and because she is someone I visit often, it’s not uncommon that I’ll sit in the couch and catch a few subjects that I might wanna listen too

Alex lost his battle; but, he had a very fierce, vicious, & cunning opponent. I deeply respect how Alex was open & honest about his pancreatic cancer, which he fought for as long as he possibly could. In making his cancer battle public, Alex's fame made his face/persona a 'relatable' opponent against pancreatic cancer; and his bravery also gave hope to countless others faced with this devastating diagnosis.

We used to play “Jeopardy” in nursing school to get ready for exams. Well, at the very end of review sessions. It was one of the very few relaxing, fun times of nursing school! 😂 And yes, it’s generally a thing that to make it onto Jeopardy, you need to possess above-average intelligence. Or at least know a little bit about a wide variety of subjects, and be quick with the buzzer!

Jeopardy is so iconic. In America, if you ask someone a question and they take a long time to answer, or if you're waiting for someone to do something and they're taking their sweet time, you can bet someone will start passive aggressively humming the theme song. We also might react to certain situations like we're choosing an answer from the board. For instance, your friend says something stupid? "I'll take Bullshit for 500, Alex."

Ladies, thank you so much for paying such kind respect to our beloved Alex Trebek. He was a wonderful, brilliant, talented, humble man, full of humor and humility. He was a Television legend for nearly 50 amazing years. He was so loved, here in the US and in his home country of Canada. No matter how famous he was, he was grounded and down to earth. Every day he was announced on Jeopardy! you'll note that they introduced him as "the host", not the "star". He insisted on this. He was adamant that the players, not he, was the star of the show. He had numerous shows over the years, but Jeopardy! became his real home in the industry. Being the host of Jeopardy! is a full time job, almost a lifestyle in and of itself, but Alex always made sure he had time for his family. He was an incredible father and did DIY house projects with both his son and daughter on a regular basis. He was one of a kind, truly without equal, and he is missed every day. ♥We love you Alex. The people who go on Jeopardy and do well really do study for a lot for it. My former coworker (we work at the library - I think a lot of librarians make it on the show!) was on Jeopardy a few years ago. I remember he prepared for months before trying out, and studied again for months until he went to film it. We would help him study. He did well enough to buy a house, which I thought was so cool. It was funny because after he filmed it he came back to work and wasn't allowed to tell us how well he did until the show aired.

Yep, i am one of the kids who grew up on jeopardy! As you were watching i was answering the questions with lethal precision! Oh man, many fond memories. It was one of few shows the family wouldn’t argue about watching on our 1 tv. The favourites were jeopardy, wheel of fortune, bumper stumpers, (you should try a reaction to bumper stumpers it was wicked and would definitely challenge your english skills to the max). Oh price is right was another huge favourite. If your looking for a comedy variety show to react to, the oldy’s we loved as kids were the Carol Burnette show, Hee Haw, and a modern day comedy variety show that’ll split your ribs laughing so hard is Whose line is it hosted by Drew Carey. Alex Trebek was iconic, and as a fellow Canadian it was cool seeing him on tv knowing he was Canadian.

Jeopardy is still on the air, but after a series of guest hosts for several months, there are two people presently sharing the hosting duties. As of today, November 1, 2021, former "Big Bang Theory" actress Mayim Bialik has been hosting for a few months. Fairly soon, all-time "Jeopardy" champion Ken Jennings, who was the first guest host, will take over for a few months to finish the present 2021-2022 season for the show. I still miss Alex though. He had hosted a few other game shows prior to this, but it was by far his longest running hosting gig. He even held the Guinness World Record for the longest run of a game show with one presenter.

My parents are older than Jeopardy! Dad was born 1939 and my Mom in 1949 and they are both still alive and healthy.......damn. Episodes were 22-26 mins long without commercials. Alex was the man. He was such a familier face for so long and it did sadden me when he told everyone and when he died. R.I.P Alex

Alex Trebek was such a beloved fixture in so many American homes. There are very few people who could be in the public eye for 37 years and manage to be loved by all who knew him, or watched him on TV. He was irreplaceable.

The idea for Jeopardy was presented by Julann, Merv Griffin's wife. This was around the time of the big quiz show scandal in the '50s in which cheating scandals were found. To prevent any further cheating, all game shows were terminated from television. Julann suggested to Merv, "why don't you give them the answers and have contestants come up with the questions?" For example, 5,280: How many feet are in a mile? The show was originally called "What's the Question?" Executives went to Merv and said, "this show doesn't have enough jeopardies." And thus, the show was then called Jeopardy.

I grew up watching some episodes of jeopardy when I was in elementary mid-early 2000s with my grandma who passed in 2017. The only thing I remember is music in jeopardy which I still hum to this day. My grandma watch this show so much and gospel church prayers on her box tv.

I grew up watching Alex Trebek. When he announced his cancer, I cried. When I watched him continue to host through treatment being so strong despite knowing how sick he was off camera, I wept. And when I heard the news that he had passed, I bawled. The world lost one incredible man. So respected, so loved. Only comparable to Mr. Rogers in my opinion. You should check him out if you haven’t already. Bring tissues if you do. 💜

FUN FACT: 8:42 The guy who responded "What's a hoe?", Ken Jennings holds the record for the most games won in a regular Jeopardy! play with 74 games accumulating a total amount of $2,520,700. And another fact is he is the current host of the current season of Jeopardy!

As someone who grew up with Alex hosting Jeopardy, and has worked with patients who had pancreatic cancer, I was so devastated when he announced his diagnosis. But I was also grateful he told us himself, and kept his treatment and how he did things as much on his terms as possible. The show is still great, but so different without him.

My family watched jeopardy almost every night together. My mom would answer -legit- every single question. We used to beg her to go on the show! She'd always say "oh, but I dont know much about math or science," but she always seemed to know them anyway. 🙄 She just sucks up information! When we were older, my sisters and I made jeopardy our drinking game. I'm 39, spent my whole life watching Jeopardy. Losing Alex Trebek was heartbreaking. The man is a national treasure.

You could do a whole live stream reacting to a Jeopardy episode. Lots of good times have been had between family, friends, even strangers, competing alongside the contestants as they watch the show. Fond memories.

I was on Jeopardy on 26 November 2020. Got to meet Alex (filming took place ~3 months prior to air), got a copy of his memoirs (as did everyone else who competed that day), and came in third, but I was up against people who were just quicker on the buzzer. You don't have to study for years, per se, but you have to know a little about a lot to do well. Sometimes the categories work in your favor, and other times, they are a horrible selection.

Trebek was a master in his discipline. Not in hosting or in trivia, but rather that he was someone who not only dared to continue to be educated as the world around him became catered more and more to the opposite, but also encouraged his viewers to join him as he did so. 이 훌륭한 사람을 키워주셔서 감사합니다잉~

I loved watching Jeopardy and listening to Alex Trebek. Another favorite show, The Price is Right, had Bob Barker as a long time host. Bob Barker would always ask viewers to spay and neuter their pets at the end of the show. Bob Barker was known as an animal lover and used his platform to avoid overcrowding in animal shelters.

As you said, so many of us grew up with Jeopardy and Alex every evening, Monday - Friday, at 7:00pm, for just 30 minutes. I didn't watch religiously every day, but I was a fan, for sure. Alex is missed so very much.

Three things of note: A. The host of the color episode, Alec Trebek, died November 2020. He was host from 1984 until his death. B. There is an American comedy song "I Lost on Jeopardy" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNyFjcybqtuydIU.html C. Each contestants must pass a minimum knowledge test. All residents in the US may try, but only those who pass the test will be put in lottery to appear on television.
