No way in hell does Cardi deserve that many nominations. what criteria do they even consider to be nominated? is it mainstream? the amount of hits? good quality? it just seems like a bragging rights for record labels at this point. The Grammy nominations for the main categories seemed so underwhelming ever since the 59th ceremony. There is only a few I could think of in wishing that they'd win the trophy coming from the likes of Childish Gambino and Kendrick Lamar and SZA, but that's it for me. Every year, the award shows seem to pander towards the mainstream, but I think it's just that modern day music as a whole just got more pathetic in quality. Like I said on the Worst Songs of 2018 list, mainstream music today is all filler with only the music video being the takeaway for a song to be fairly decent.

The Grammys are usually disappointing. But this year the nominations are egregiously offensive.

The history books will show that in 2018 Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, who completely carried pop music on their backs, received zero Grammy nominations in the big categories whilst Zedd received 2.

The Grammys stopped being about quality and started being about popularity a long time ago. Literally the only ones for me that deserve a Grammy are only a few. The Stranger Things OST is nominated it could win.

Jon, I appreciate what you said about the Grammy's nominating Mac Miller. I also believe he was only nominated due to his death. However, don't take that away from how great his final album was. I'm not sure of your opinion on it, but Swimming was an absolutely amazing piece of art and it deserves this recognition. His growth and development in music is incredible and was only going to keep growing. I personally hope Mac wins the Grammy. He deserves it.

The Fever 333 has a lead singer who is friends with Travis Barker. I saw them at MUSINK FEST last year and was actually surprised with the lyrical content and stage performance. They go absolutely crazy...shocked to see they got a grammy nom but thats still amazing. You should definitely check them out, they have a heavy RAGE influence to there sound.

I'm super happy that Shawn is nominated this year and I hope that he wins at least one of the awards. As far as the others Camila and Ariana I love them so much. BTS was also nominated although it was for best album art/album packaging it is still a nomination! K-Pop is growing and I'm so happy and proud to say that! I think it might actually have a chance to win due to the fact that in Korea they produce and release four different albums with each having a different concept but the cover art when you put the four albums in a row the lines connect together and make a complete puzzle whereas with other albums it's just one simple piece. I realize that you probably have no interest in K-Pop or BTS but I hope that maybe one of these days you'll give it a try and a listen!

If the GRAMMYs were legitimate they’d nominate Rock n Roll / Alternative acts in the big 4categories. It’s a popularity contest these days. The reason they don’t nominate a Rock album is because they prove to win time and time again and I don’t think the “mainstream” loves that. I will always know Rock n Roll is the purest form of music.

It's actually super cool that The Fever 333 got nominated for a Grammy imo! It's the new project of Jason Butler from letlive. and it has members from Night Visions and The Chariot. Although their EP personally wasn't for me, I do really appreciate the musicianship and the message they're putting out there. Don't think they'll be winning the Grammy, but I'm sure they're gonna do some great stuff.
