Kai's dad was born in brazil but raised in the USA , until he moved to china as teenenager , wherehe became an actor and singer . Kai's speak korean , english and mandarin , but his dad , his stepmom , and his paternal grandparents all speak portuguese . Kai's dad born in brazil but he's American .

Hueningkai's blood line has the whole fandom confused apparently according to his grandfather the first Huening's are from Germany, his dad is from Brazil, His mom is Korean his middle name (Kamal) is Arabic I believe and he was born in America but lived in China for a while when he was younger. Actually, you were right. Kai was born in Hawaii but moved to China as a baby and he lived there until he moved to Korea to become an idol. However, Huening is a German and American name - his mom is Korean and his dad is American! His dad is an actor and singer in China, and Kai can speak Chinese!

You probably taught he was Chinese ethnicity cause his first name-Kai can also have a Chinese meaning (his father or uncle confirmed it ) for kai=victory/victorious (his father although he is a German-American he still worked as an actor and singer there in China for a long time & knows the language well (speaking& singing) & his middle name Kamal is Arabic (for perfection.) Together: Perfect Victory- Kai Kamal (Huening). Kai although born in America spent most of his childhood in both China & Korea and has more exposure to those languages & cultures. Although his English is pretty good -it is more from learning it from his father & outside the states instead of actually living there is significant amount of time; his still more comfortable with Korean though.

Well, Huening Kai’s father is American (a German descent) and Huening Kai really is a Chinese-American. You weren’t wrong. He is Chinese - American. His father is an actor and singer and he appeared on a Chinese tv show with his father and two sisters. His father is American while his mother is korean. He has two sisters, one is older than him and one is younger by two years (who now has according to rumour joined YG entertainment)
