fun fact: Claymore Opening was performed by NIGHTMARE who also did the opening of Death Note.. and yeah that's right luke CLAYMORE has like the berserk vibe but a girl protagonist, hope madhouse remake claymore because for me it's an underrated anime and one of my fav.

Kenichi Historys Strongest Disciple that's one I just remembered I remember it got pretty crazy in the manga but never watched the anime but know it stopped way before the end

Most of the time they make anime to boost manga sales. The problem is that the Claymore manga ended a long time ago and there is nothing left to sell ^^... It's sad, it's the first story where I went from the anime to the manga because it was so good. However it is also not impossible that the Japanese industry will do a remake because these days many old time animes are getting their reboots... Let's hope :)

@@DanielGonzalez-vo5ni I agree with your list as long as they stop at the same point for both Air Gear and Tenjo Tenge. Oh! Great isn't a bad mangaka, but we can clearly see his roots when the story progresses. I mean, I don't want to shame the guy, but most of his early work didn't have that great of a story because it wasn't for the story people "read" it. It lead to him kind of having an habit of losing focus on the story pass a certain point, which is very apparent in Air Gear and Tenjo Tenge. The anime we already got stopped at good times, although Air Gear could probably get 1 or 2 more seasons before the story start taking a nose dive. The one I agree the most with you though is Kenichi, history's strongest disciple! That one is a blast from start to finish and the manga stayed great untill the end!

Chivalry does use the color in the anime sometimes it's sick, really recommend a nice quick 12 episode watch, you definitely should!

Chivalry of a Failed Knight, hell yeah! Such an underrated opening, one of my all time favorites. Love how there are multiple different versions throughout the season as well depending on the focus fight at that point in time. It just oooooozes style.

Yes! Claymore's ending track is amazing, and so is the anime, as long as you go into it with the right mentality. It's about the journey, not the destination. There's no satisfying ending, because the series was cancelled. You should definitely watch it. I feel like watching a really good anime that gets cancelled is a right of passage that everyone should have to go through.

Claymore is easily one of the shows I most want to be remade by one of the top modern studios. That show was ...something, and the Manga pushed it even further.

Claymore is also comparable to Berserk, in the sense that you must see the art in the manga to really understand how good it is. the anime is a much more standard adaptation than Berserk's laughably janky one, but I still think there's no way to do the manga's artwork justice. it's not just the style of illustration... meticulous crosshatching is one thing, but it's also the stuff that's being depicted. some of the manga's paneling is just so gorgeously composed that motion feels like it'd almost ruin the shot, and any skimping on the detail really destroys the visceral tangibility that some of the illustrations achieve. and when I say that Claymore has some of the best creature design I've ever seen... like... we're talking eldritch shit where it's not even clear how the thing would move. some of the bodies in this series are downright architectural... and the artist is excellent at creating a sense of scale, and unsettling movement, even on a still page. if you're fully absorbed in Claymore's storytelling, it _really_ transports you to it's world. there's nothing quite like reading the manga for this one.

I think everyone who hates Raki in the anime watched the dub. While he isn’t amazing in the sub, he is much better. Still, the manga is incredible and definitely the best way the experience Claymore. The art really gets better as it goes along and by the second half the designs get really detailed and intricate.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight is one of my all time favorites. Great characters, awesome fights, just top tier all round. It is such a shame that it was left incomplete...

I'm guessing people recommend Claymore at the same time as Clannad and Toradora due to more the time period rather than the genre. Claymore doesn't just refer to the swords but the warriors themselves basically in Claymore imagine the Witcher except the Witchers are Women. Chivalry of a Failed Knight is a Magic Highschool Light Novel series, you know how right now Isekai are the hot thing well in the mid to late 2000's the popular trope was a magical highschool where students trained with supernatural powers where the MC is outside the conventional power system and seen as "weak" but is actually OP or at least as a unique ability to turn the tides. It was super common back in the day and Chivalry is kinda the swansong to that era, in that it often fixes a lot of the problems people had with those kinda series while keeping all the fun stuff people liked about it, its not really innovative but its executes a lot of cliche's really well. When it came out it was kinda overlooked because it was similar to a similar anime light novel adaptation called The Asterisk War so people kinda wrote it off, however in hindsight when Asterisk War got a second season and this show didn't we all kinda realized Chivalry is a bit of a hidden gem and its slowly gained a small cult following, recently the Novels have been retranslated officially and the series recently ended in the Novels about a year ago (But the anime sadly never got renewed for another season and its been almost ten years so it likely won't.) Basically its an underdog story of a "weak" magic knight that everyone has written off as a failure and his struggles to be acknowledged by the world and his character through adversity and also lands a Hot Red Haired Princess in the process, one thing we all like about it we didn't appreciate looking back is a romance that takes off relatively quickly and then actually goes somewhere beyond the "will they won't they." The person that directed a lot of the action scenes in Chivalry actually went on to work on Eminence in Shadow, they both have a similar mix of magic with flashy swordplay and stylistic color changes to add flair to some of the fights (And the OP) In terms of tone, its more adventurous Not super Dark but super light hearted either. Has comedic moments but not really watched for laughs.

Claymore IS an emotional show. Yes there is action, but the focus is the drama. I really would love to see you reacting to it. It is a anime that has influenced me and so many others is so many ways. Chivalry of a Failed Knight is mainly action/romance with ecchi and drama added. It's a somewhat decent harem show... which is a rarity.

Claymore is a dark fantasy manga/anime. The anime was good, but the ending is sudden due to the manga not have been finished at the time. The full story is epic. The base description - Female warriors with big swords hunt demons called Yoma. The girls are part-Yoma which is why they all have straw-blonde hair and silver eyes that turn gold when they are agitated. Each warrior has numbered rank and using too much Yoma blood risks turning them into monsters. Protagonist Claire is hunting for revenge (which is VERY common among the warriors). Also the warriors are called Claymores by the people due to there swords, but they don't call themselves that. Akame ga Kill, Attack on Titan, Berserk. I remember reading the manga back in middle school and I was just absolutely floored at the quality of the art... especially some of the later stuff, like, it was and still is crazy to me that I could pick up a book that was like $10 at the time, and see that. there are some manga that make you want to personally pay the artist more for what they did, and that's one of them for me.

Oh gosh. Claymore. How long it has been... I nearly forgot about its existence. It's very unique. Some say call it berserker-like some may call it whicher-like but it has its vibe. It's not 10/10 but it's really good 8/10 (this is my subjective rating). It's a very underrated anime. I am looking forward to your reaction. I would love to see you also react to Garo. Another swordsman anime which is in my opinion really underrated.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight definitely has one of my most favourite opening animation, and of course the song itself is also lit! Thanks for reacting! Also, to answer your question about the short katana, according to wikipedia, the short one is called wakizashi, and functions as a backup or auxiliary sword, can be used for close combat, beheading an opponent, or even used to commit seppeku (a ritualistic suicide to restore their honour).

13:00 It's a Kodachi. They're often mistaken with Wakizashi or Tanto, but Kodachi are wielded as a primary sword, while Wakizashi and Tanto are side weapons wielded with a larger sword.

Oh Claymore, it's a great, dark, heavy... it's one of the animes that makes you pick up manga. Also it might be one of the animes where you compare the themes with other animes that you already have reacted to ;) And please please please react to the KINGDOM EDs. Also putting Teresa of the Faint Smile on the thumbnail was a very good choice.

Claymore is awesome. I watched it a couple years ago. The characters were so good and unique that not only did I adored them at the time, but I still remember them all even though they look EXACTLY THE SAME. I still can't believe they created such compelling and memorable character designs only using facial expressions and haircuts. The main character, Clair, is so badass. Too bad they messed up the season finale. I hope one day we'll see a remake.

We can only hope it gets the FMA Brotherhood treatment and gets a proper full remake some day. Honestly I think it would be pretty popular if they did a good job with it.

@@StarstormVGN they could always do a blue exorcist and just make season 2 as if season 1 was 100% manga accurate. Claymore Season 1 is pretty much panel to panel aside for the first episode (which re-arranges events a bit), until the last 2 episodes where it jumps completely off the rails of trying to follow the story. So unlike Tokyo Ghoul which had a giant mess of a season 2, Claymore Season 2 would simply need to "correct" what happened which conveniently we actually do get a flashback of what happened after the "Ghosts" rescue Clarice.

@@Tatersalad666 It'd absolutely blow up if done right these days, especially if a remake continued past Pieta, but the odds of it ever getting picked back up aren't good. The anime released at probably the worst time. Huge series like Shippuden, Code Geass, Afro Samurai, TTGL, Kenichi, and Katekyo Hitman Reborn completely overshadowed it. It might've been received really well by those of us who gave it a chance, but it was up against absolute monsters that pulled in numbers like crazy, and it's numbers that animation companies would look at.

Chivalry of a Failed Knight and Claymore are both excellent anime’s, I love Claymore and I believe it deserves more love and a proper remake. The opening and ending of Claymore are so very good and the full versions are outstanding so thank you for checking it out ❤. If you want banger music then check out the openings of Jormungand, a grounded military anime that follows an arms dealer and her band of mercenaries.

Claymore is an amazing manga. It's no super top tier work, but it's definitely A-tier. And the designs somewhat into the story go seriously hard. Definitely designs that can inspire people, they're really great.

Claymore is Light and Dark anime, first few Ep's is story line for you, and then everything comes together. If you have not seen it, all I can say is give it little time cause it builds.

The Rakudai opening is written and sung by Sakai Mikio, whose voice stands out to me ever since I watched sCRYed, where he sang the ED and wrote lyrics for the OP. The ending is by ALI PROJECT, who have been all over the place, and also have a very distinctive sound. They did the OP for Noir, a few songs for Rozen Maiden, and provided the EDs for the episodes of Code Geass that had FLOW doing the openings.

Chivalry of a failed knight is one of the best fighting and martial arts anime I've ever seen and the first season doesn't even have the best fights, just the internal duels at the academy... it's a shame it doesn't have a second season after so long.

There are still some relatively well knowned anime that I hope you react to the openings : Kuroko's Basket, Black Butler, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Detective Conan, Beelzebub, Letter Bee, Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha, Hamatora, and Kemono Jihen to name a few Hope to see them in the future!

I listened to the Claymore OP and ED so many times. Two of my favourites, even tried to sing/play them on guitar. I really enjoyed Chivalry of a Failed Knight when I was younger and thought it's underrated. The problem is that these animes are unfinished. To be more precise Claymore has been cut with an original ending.

They weren't planning on more seasons probably so gave it a push preview to continue by reading manga. As many shows back then were like promotional side material for the manga and merch

Who agreed for Luke to react to Chilvary of failed knight? Maybe by getting his attention, we get season 2, who knows. They usually make season 2 for famous series only.

I don't know how but I somehow forgot that Chivalry had such fantastic OP and EDs, it's a truly a fantastic series that broke long established tropes a couple of times. As bad as it sounds, I haven't seen Claymore since the original airing almost 20 years ago and keep putting off restarting it. The OP and ED reminder just put it back at the top of my list. Another solid set of OPs and EDs is definitely the ones for Freezing. Freezing is definitely a very emotional and underrated anime at times.

In resume "Claymore" was exibited in 2007, more story based anime, with lots of aspects to receave your atention, Chivalry of a Failed Knight is a tv series that was released in 2015, having your own metod to show the plot and the felling that they want to pass to audience, but your story is more simple in some aspects, both of them have your own charm as an anime.

"Chivalry of a Failed Knight" is tagged Action, Fantasy, Romance, Ecchi. I agree, though I would say MAL needs a "Contemporary Fantasy" tag since it's a modern setting.

I honesty loved claymore. The ending was unfortunate, but still enjoyable. Wish they didnt change the ending of the final season. Last few episodes was the anime changing things to prevent a season 3. They tried wrapping it up fast.

Claymore is my favorite manga. The anime was done so well, until the end when they changed it (because they probably knew it wasnt going to continue) there is almost nothing more than a new Claymore anime that actually goes the whole story

12:05 Luke is doing it for science. Yeah, for science. Totally. . . . . Btw, the question for the swords. The answer can be found in the term " Daishō " . The etymology of the word daishō becomes apparent when the terms daitō, meaning long sword, and shōtō, meaning short sword, are used; daitō + shōtō = daishō. In most cases the long sword is the familiar to us all katana and the wakizashi being the short sword, like the one the girl was holding. If you replay the ending, even for people who have not seen the anime, you can notice that all 4 girls are using different swords. I understand that it is hard to focus on the swords but give it a try people. Do it for me. . . . . . . As for Claymore. Just a heads up. The anime adaptation had its two final episodes as an anime original since they wanted for some reason to end it there. The manga(aka the source material) continues after that and I have to say the stakes were raised quite a bit more from where the anime was abruptly axed.

The "for some reason" for Claymore is because the manga wasn't finished and they wanted to use the anime to get people to read the manga.

Any plans on reacting to the openings of the Nanoha franchise? The franchise that helped mold the Modern Battle Mahou Shoujo genre. The franchise inspired Symphogear.

Claymore could be one of my favorite anime ever but the big problem is that only like half of it got animated and the first half is really good and well adapted, too. Years after watching the anime I read the whole manga and man, the second half just makes it a masterpiece. I still hope that someday it will also get animated. Oh yeah and I'd be totally on board if you made a reaction to the whole Claymore anime. It's still super worth watching.

If you were a 14 years old boy starting to watch anime, Rakudai Kishi no Calvary would be one of the best animes ever made. Even today, its stil a good hollywood action blockbuster, like the ones from the 90's. And now that I think about it, that may be better than a lot of animes todays. Rakudai is simple, but at least has a soul.

The anime is ok-ish but the manga is amazing. Chances are if you like Berserk you will also like Claymore a lot. I heavily recommend reading it!

I haven't watched either but both are rated R/+17 so definitely mature. Chivalry is labeled Ecchi so it is definitely sus. Day 119 Attempt 59 asking for Dot Hack Sign Openings and Endings/ Dot Hack Franchise reactions (intertwined series of Anime and Games)

Def check out the first few eps of Claymore if you can. I still have the complete manga set for Claymore, its got a special place in my heart. If there's a remake of Claymore, I'm all for it. Tons of blood and noodity. Which...you kinda get used to cuz its a mature anime about fighting and that's about it. And humanity. Also part of the reason why some shows have shorter OP and/or ED like claymore is because they do a lot of "retelling" like "Last time during the last episode this happened".

You would definitly love Claymore, Luke. The anime is excellent. The only things stopping it from being perfect is that it was cancelled before it could adapt all the manga.

Both are really solid series, but Claymore got kind of wild in the end since it made its own ending as the manga was (I believe) still ongoing. Do recommend though.

Oh dear Luke if u think that Berserk isnt an emotional drama u didnt watch it properly. Claymore is one of my favorite animes, quite different from the manga sadly but it is as it is. The ending is quite amazing Riyu Kozaka is such a great singer. About the show, it is hella dark thats for sure. I have no idea how u come to the idea that it may be romantic or something like that. The name alone gives me explanation marks on my face because its the name of a sword.
