Fun fact, that was the voice of Mark Hamill in the second commercial! Also he says “you’ll never know who you’ll run into next.”

Seeing some of the KH2 footage that wasn't used in the final product like Donald freezing himself and the trio fighting off those Neoshadows was super trippy wow. Even the shot of Axel smiling after Roxas brings out the 2 Keyblades was slightly different.

I remember using Aqua's exp walk with a rubber band to pin down the controller so she would walk in a circle and then went to bed got up - she was mega leveled... :D good times.

i was in 8th grade when that first commercial came out i was so enraptured by the imagery + music that any time i heard it come on the tv, i'd sprint to the room no matter where i was in the house since KZfaq didn't exist yet and there was no way to watch it a billion times like i wanted to got the game and a ps2 for my birthday a few days after launch even though my parents *hated* me playing video games FUCK take me BACK still gets me GOING

Random fact, to this day, the way the BBS trailer randomly cuts to Mickey wailing at 29:56 is embedded into my brain, I mimick that sound pretty much every time I hear someone say Mickey Mouse. I'll never forget that 😂

I'm very glad to see these older commercials for Kingdom Hearts, I never really looked for them so I've only seen the ReMind, Melody of Memory, Missing Link, and KH4 Trailers on release. @7:37 SAME, it was the first KH ad I'd seen and I remember how I felt while watching it so clearly, I was so mesmerized. KH (especially 1) is so mysterious and just has this air about it that's kinda hard to put into words, but it's wild that you can sense it even through such a simple lil ad. I knew I HAD to play it and I'm so glad I did. Also very thankful for this particular trailer because I'm pretty sure it's the only one I ever saw, and without it I would've never known the game was a thing ❤

Yeah, a lot of the scenes you "don't remember" were in fact cut. In the KH1 beta trailer it's blink-and-you'll-miss-it but you can see Sora walking through Disney Castle, which you never visit in the actual game. As well as the scene of Riku on top of Big Ben, and Sora confronting Riku on the island where you fight Darkside, etc. You'll also notice Donald and Goofy are in their standard outfits instead of their actual Kingdom Hearts ones. And in the KH2 commercials, the scene of Roxas chasing the Dusk through town never happens, as well as the scene of Donald freezing himself, and that was indeed part of KH1 Hollow Bastion you saw. Old trailers and commercials like this are a treasure trove of seeing things that were cut from the game or changed between development and release. The only one of these commercials I remember for certain seeing was the Days one, my parents actually bought KH1 for themselves solely because they were huge Disney fans, I had just been born. I must have seen at least one KH2 commercial because I know I wanted it, and I remember seeing an in-store display for it.

These are like hidden gems, I've only ever seen 2 maybe 3 of these trailers

Ngl your the one who keeps my love for kingdom hearts I've lost the passion for it since dreamdrop distance as from that point on I personally haven't vibed with its story ever since. I love Kingdom Hearts! Kingdom Hearts and Pokémon are my two most favorite video game series and they both hold a very special place in my heart! They are also special interests of mine (I'm autistic) and I fixate on them both all the time. I made my first friends through those two series and I always say "My friends are my power!" Sora is my favorite and I cried when he disappeared at the end of KH3...KH3 made me cry a lot actually. From Sora's breakdown in the Keyblade Graveyard to Roxas and Xion coming back to the Wayfinder Trio finally reuniting after so long...I think you get the picture. I hope we get more KH4 news soon, I need to see more about it, especially what's going on with my boy Sora! I hope everyone is trying to find him, not just Riku and Kairi 🥺

The trailer for 2.5 remix at 1:21:38 is just so good. When that came out, I watched it so many times, the music choice and the editing. Goddamn it's so good.

There's just something so incredible and exciting about reliving the trailer hype cycles for this series. We actually just finished uploading all the KHIII trailers on the KHDatabase YT, and so I sat down to re-watch them all, and it was just so exciting again. Watching this video also got me excited (even though I didn't see almost any of these trailers at the time they released). I don't know what this rush of energy is, but it comes everytime with all of these. Hope you do the KHIII trailers next!

kh3 got announced with that initial first trailer, with sora in twilight town and the heartless swarm during e3 the kh3 stuff in that 2.5 trailer was just a little teaser, it was long after the game had already been announced

Crazy how much different kh1 trailer is to it's final version. Oddly enough outta all the trailers kh2 and a little of days hit me the most in the feels even tho i wasn't a fan when kh2 came out

That first kh2 commercial got me so emotional cause I remember it so vividly and I remember the first time I saw it and I screamed at my parents saying and asking to please get it! Cause I never beat the first one all the way but my friends did and told me the ending lol. I’m now 28 and have played every game. 😢❤

My hyper fixation has been KH since 2002 and I’ve reached the point where I google Kingdom Hearts every single day, just to make sure I don’t miss anything, and sometimes all I do is sit and stare at my phone and yearn for more KH content! So that little taste of Young Xehanort and Eraqus chatting wasn't actually how they announced KHIII, they announced it with a short teaser back in E3 2013. HOWEVER, if they HAD announced it with the ending of that 2.5 trailer I genuinely think that may have been even cooler.

It's really insane that the first trailer for KH has half the render of Dive into the Heart with the choir cause in game it's the upgraded chipset from the Super Nintendo Era for the music to render. Also after the KH2 was over The fandom always think every trailer is about kingdom hearts 3 😂. (I know how pissed everyone was when.they watched the Dream Drop Distance trailer cause 3 was dropped first before D )

Back in the day without the internet available all the time, I would pick out games based solely on the covers at the store! I just happened to choose kingdom hearts chain of memories one day and was BLOWN AWAY by it! I didn’t even know that the first game existed and that it wasn’t a card game series! I was shocked to find out that it was an action game! I’m so happy I got it though and started my many year kingdom hearts journey!

I hope that, if they bring back Sephiroth on future installments, they keep the original Crisis Core/Advent Children voice actor!

In hindsight it’s crazy how much the trailers for BBS or III would show. Like to be honest I would’ve not shown ANYTHING from the Keyblade Graveyard for III besides maybe Master Xehanort walking up. It’s not on Nomura though, he didn’t like that the last BBS trailer showed too much like from the Secret Ending and Final Episode and all.

32:21 The moment some super fans realized a new boss was present that wasn’t in the original Japanese BBS. :p Yeah when 1.5 and 2.5 was coming out, it was a special time/release. It was a big deal for several reasons. I was all over these community trailers. It was probably the beginning of knowing there were other fans like me. Lol Disney was also having a bit of a video game renaissance at that time. A remake of a Sega Genesis Mickey Mouse classic. Castle of Illusion. And NES Ducktales being remade. I am a grateful owner of the 2.5 Collector’s Edition. Even Chi and Union X debuted around this time. Seen the vast majority of the trailers back then. Many were uninterestingly too similar. But that’s how it was.
