@@Wusaruful ah yes, the "retcon bullshit power up" that has been hinted at and foreshadowed since skypiea with the sun god Nika legend and luffy dancing like him or against multiple characters who have straight up said rubber doesn't act like this or were confused by his movements/abilities since, RUBBER DOESNT ACT LIKE THIS. Katakuri had to adjust to snakemake NOT because of its speed, but because of the way it moved. Cracker questioned how his body can be hard and soft at the same time, which rubber isn't. Even in dressrosa, Doflamingo has questioned MULTIPLE TIMES how luffys body can behave the way it is when its rubber (more to the point of luffy's body not acting like rubber should for a long ass time before Wano.) Gear 5 has been foreshadowed for more than a decade and the only thing that was poorly foreshadowed was Sun god Nika since we did get that one thing from skypiea but we didnt get anything more after that

And by dieing he became a god, so if luffy would have died anywhere else sooner he just would have been a god sooner. There is no more risk , I remember when Kaido in Big Mom on Wano seemed undefeatable until oda decided not only will no one die, the newcomers will get a free win and 50 bullshit awakenings for no apparent reason besides charlie sheen winning son.

never confirmed. your forgetting luffy in gear 5 is extremely cartoony and does cartoony things such as his eyes popping out his head, enlarging his head to try and eat lucci, and even turning his enemies into cartoons like how he did with kaido and the stars around his head when he punched him. Running on the air is just a cartoony gag similar to popping his eyes out of his head since obviously you cant make your eyes pop out your head like that by JUST turning it into rubber. So yeah his awakening turns things into rubber which makes them cartoony but the cartoony aspect isnt limited to the things he directly turns into rubber

The crazy part about the real name of Luffys devil fruit (the Hito Hito no Mi model: Nika) is that in another arc Franky was wearing a shirt that said Hito on it and it looked like this I 🌞 H T It spells out Hito and has a sun on it referencing the fruit and the Sun God

Iirc this was during Zou. But this foreshadowing Easter egg is definitely welcome. I’m a big fan of the devil fruit reveal but I was disappointed Nika wasn’t name dropped sagas ago. Feel like anywhere between Sabaody and Fishman would’ve been perfect to reveal that name at least. Better than introducing it several chapters before the actual reveal imho. This easter egg however makes it a tiny bit better

New viewer and this is pre-watched AF, Nika was never mentioned in Skypiea. The only people that know to connect to that are people theory crafters that connected it to the mentions of the gods, and people that have watched those theory videos about it

Yeah Skypiea was back from chapters 237 to 302 and he awakens his fruit in chapter 1043. So around 800 chapters later give or take. Then people wanna say oda makes shit up as he goes along

I'm convinced that luffy's father, dragon... is the rain god, the first scene with him showing up to save Luffy from execution was a dead giveaway. But knowing Oda, he can be misleading sometimes with characters that are not well-defined although dragon will play a major role eventually in the last arc of one piece most likely. Edit: dragon is still looking weast tho-not gonna lie 😂. He can't get away with the fraud allegations all the time.

luffy can activate gear 5th at will, the way he does it is by using gear 2nd's blood pump mechanic to speed up his heart until it "hits that funny beat". the "funny heartbeat" can be heard for miles, and sounds like drums. that's the "drums of liberation" zunesha mentioned.

Actually The power of gear 5 is imagination thats why the fight was like a cartoon because it's luffys imagination thats why everything he touches turn into rubber but also Parametheya devil fruit have the ability to do that but there are so many limitations they can't turn human subjects into it etc. So toei doesn't have to make every fight like this but they can if they wanted too

Let me clear this up for you, now, in Gear5, Luffy's strechiness has no limit, plus he can turn anything and everything into a rubbery material which he touches; thats why we see him running on Air, and grab Lightening Bolts. Only things that Luffy or anybody else's whatever Devil Fruit Power can't surpass is the standard setup of DF Weaknesses, Ocean, Sea-Prism Stone or Conquerer Haki's attack. Also, Ryou is the term used by Wano people to denote Advanced Conquerors Haki.

I believe it's two conqueror's colors. The yellow I believe is luffy's and the red is JoyBoy's or Sun God Nika's spirit in the Gomu Fruit (or its the other way around). Since he awakened his fruit I believe it also awakened the spirit of Joy Boy, thus we see two colors.

Definitely one of the best forms and battles in anime and animation… just incredible. Haven’t watched episodes of one piece technically, only seen many bits and clips and reviews of the series. But yeah this is really good. 🤍
