This is it man. I've always thought that beyond the simple enjoyment of hearing dope rappers on equally dope Al beats, it's always the result of the chemistry between his collaborators that intrigues me. He creates such a beautiful canvas of a soundscape for everyone to paint over.

Conway is actually older than Kendrick. Most people associate thoughts of depression and anxiety with Kendrick because he's very recent, but many rappers have done the same. Biggie and "Suicidal Thoughts" is EXTREMELY influential. Although, not many rappers reference....but EVERYONE knows of it. It's kind of a blindspot.

Also a lot of people attribute the emo rap wave to Cudi and them but the first street rapper that really blew up with the type of songs Conway is making here was Joe Budden with the mood muzik series around the early 00s. I know a lot of people dont like him for his podcast but the guy was a rap pioneer with talking about mental health in detail in his projects.

Griselda truly brings this sinister feel to hip hop that we haven't heard in a while. Also, I'm glad to see that upstate NY finally has a representative rap group. For the most part, it's been NYC and it's five boroughs that have contributed the most to the genre.

This album was heavy and had me surprised when I first listened to it. Without a doubt one of the best rap albums I’ve heard this decade so far. I kinda get strong Illmatic vibes from the album especially with how personal and raw Conway’s lyricism is to be honest. And I’m really glad you’re finally getting into Griselda for the first time. So I thought I’d share some Griselda albums I think you’ll enjoy. Westside Gunn: - Hitler Wears Hermes Series (I personally think 7, 8: Sincerely Adolf, & 8: Side B are the best in there) - Supreme Blientele - 10 (although it’s still part of the HWH Series, it’s still amazing as a standout album) Conway the Machine: - From King To A GOD - La Maquina Benny the Butcher: - Tana Talk 3 - Tana Talk 4 And to tie it all up, I recommend listening to their WWCD album as a whole. Lots of amazing and gritty stuff that each and every one of them can have and still be just as amazing.

This album is a tough one, my favorite from Griselda, from Conway. Deep stuff. Modern day classic.

I’ve seen other ppl mention it but whenever you decide to do a deep dive on Griselda and all its members/affiliates, I would highly recommend Manger on McNichols by Boldy James and Sterling Toles. One of my absolute favorite albums and if the subject matter and presentation of this Conway album resonates with you I think you’d appreciate it a lot. Much love!!

In the music video for John Woo Flick when he says the baby line there's a hilarious shot of Conway holding a gun and a wrapped up blanket

God don’t make mistakes might be my favourite rap song of 2022. One of the best closing tracks of all-time imo

Maaan, been waiting for you to react to Conway/Griselda since our talk. The Cow was the song that really got me invested in Conway, but this album goes even deeper. If you’d like to delve into more Griselda and Alchemist I HIGHLY recommend The price of tea in China by Boldy James and Alchemist, or Bo Jackson from the same duo. Keep up the good work brother 🫡

I’d say calling it guilty is because the sample of someone saying guilty was in the beat when he made the lyrics

The Cow is also a really emotional song that I would recommend. It's technically a Westside Gunn song but he only has one verse on it, all the rest is Conway
