She had to say goodbye to her tiny hometown, break up with her boyfriend (who was her elder brother's friend) and pack up her suitcase and leave her family because they couldn't come since her sister was 10 years younger than her and literally just about to start pre-school, so her mom stayed back and let Britney go off on her own, accompanied with her agent and an assistant as her only adult supervision. She already had a record deal and was scheduled to fly to Sweden to record her album at age 15, just barely even out of middle school. She didn't even get to complete freshman year of high school before going off to record the album and was a global superstar by 16. It was a LOT.

Toxic is one of my absolute favorite videos of all times. Of course I am a black Jamaica so I am going to let you know the black guy on the motorcycle is actually Tyson Beckford and he was one of the hottest male model around at that time. All though he lives in American, he is actually a Jamaican. Britney throw him a surprise bday party on set because on the second day of shooting the toxic video it was actually his birthday. I love and adore Britney Spears and honesly I don't think the world deserves her. Also the reference to Christina outfit, let's clear it up a bit. Toxic cake out before Dirty so it was Christina Aguilera who copied and slightly changed it a bit. Back then Britney Spears was the trend setter and the total package so much that she was the industry standard for young female singer in the business as they were compared to Britney in every way by the industry execs and the tabloids.

Hit me baby one more time changed EVERYTHING in pop music when it came out. I had Britney pics from magazines and posters all over my walls. (That’s another fun part of the 90’s nobody talks about. The MAGAZINES!! Bop, Tigerbeat, J-14, TEEN magazine. We would buy one and tear the pages out we wanted and then pass them around to our friends. I took ALL the Britney and passed off the *NSYNC 98 degrees and Backstreet Boys off to my girlfriends.) I would literally sit in the magazine and or CD aisles while my mom shopped. They would have little places with headphones set up when big albums would drop so we could listen before we bought them. She’s just so magnetic and hard to take your eyes off of her. If you’ve seen her live you know what I mean, she’s got a light about her.
