Stereotypes we went over:
INTJ
- Cold/unemotional exterior
- Intelligent/objective
- Arrogant about their knowledge/beliefs
- "I'm just trying to help fix the problem"
INFJ
- Aversion to criticism/conflict
- Perfectionists at heart
- Warm exterior/cold interior
- "I don't want to go but I should"
Both:
- High expectations for themselves/others
- Extreme need for efficiency (not included in video, slip wasn't in the bowl)

I was literally just debating with an INTJ about this. He refused to consider a new perspective that was not based on statistics and no matter what I tried to present to him (even through logic) he could not understand my point. But I think he was younger.

I am INTJ and I think INTJ-INFJ pairings are among the strongest possible. The common introverted intuition gives them great compatibility in problem-solving approaches. They tend to be focused in on individual ideas and in detailing those out. They have very complementary modes of thinking and feeling. The main problem I have had with INFJ is that when there is an argument INFJ tends to be all or nothing, and it always feels like there is some war within her to either shut me out 100% or fight to repair whatever is broken 100%. It's always all or nothing. I think it is maybe dangerous for INFJ to always make decisions based on feelings alone. The video was great, and your boyfriend is uber INTJ...power to the INTJs dude :) I really enjoyed getting his take on each stereotype, although I would have appreciated hearing the INFJ perspective on each point after he made his points.

Hang on to him. INTJ's are like a fine wine, we get better with age. INFJ's definitely take relationships seriously,but I doubt many younger INTJ's would see it. I am embarrassed about my ignorance in my 20's and early 30's and I can see the same mistakes made by all young INTJ's I see in videos. We slowly realize we aren't always right, because we run into people whom prove us wrong. We hate being wrong,so we make damn sure that we weed out the incorrect "fact" in our minds,so our intuition (subconscious) has accurate data to make proper connections with. I suppose INFJ's could benefit the same if they learn to make sure what they feel is accurate (according to the external reality). Ni is extremely powerful because the subconscious can process information 1 million times faster than the conscious mind (and it works 24/7),but the data base has to be accurate to arrive at the truth. The subconscious doesn't think or have any biases. It is simply a(powerful) processor that finds patterns and sees how things are connected. Delusions in equal delusions out.

I thought it was funny how Daniel totally didn't get that those two traits (avoids conflict and wants to be liked by others) as total INFJ traits. He thought they were about him (typical Introverted Feeling manifestation). He obviously needs to brush up on his MBTI and work on his weakness of being aware of the feelings of others! Daniel, you hear that? A fellow INTJ here letting you know you've got some work to do to know your SO INFJ better! ;-) Great video! Thanks!

The funny thing to me is, almost all of these stereotypes fit both types. INFJ is much more cold internally than INTJ and reverse. These two types are extremely similar and extremely different...lol I'm an INTJ and my mother, brother, and one of my bestfriends are all INFJs. This is the first video I have seen of yours and I totally expected him to be the INFJ just because he looked so uncomfortable on cam and all the INFJs I know are super shy and easily embarassed...lol Anyway, typically an INTJ will hurt INFJs feelings on a regular basis and INFJ can be petty and hold very long term grudges. On the flip side you are better at understanding eachother probably better than any other combination of types excluding same-type relationships. You two are really cute together, I hope you have learned to deal with each others quirks and offensive(INTJ) or non-sense(INFJ) behavoirs...lol

INTJ female here. I think another way to look at this relationship is to consider that Ni "removes" INxJs from reality and consciousness. Ni-users often have to jump this double obstacle before they can communicate with others. This is what makes Ni-doms appear "distant"/"detached" (blazé?) to everyone. So, when you find another Ni-dom user, all actions flow virtually without any hurdle. Recognition and understanding is immediate and effortless when Te and Fe are in place and rooted. The only thing left to do is to adjust to each other's moods according to situations. I personally attest that the ONLY person I've ever met who has had no trouble convincing me to talk/do things without ever irritating me is my male INFJ colleague. We have intellectual emotional debates and this is not an antithesis.

I'm an INFJ and my older sister is an INTJ and we go really well together. We are able to understand each other and do very smart talks and sometimes abstract talks . By "talks " I mean deep conversations and often agree, because both INTJ and INFJ hate bs talk and want a deeper understanding of things in a logical way too. Both of us have the same thoughts and enjoy our moments together. The only time when INTJs and INFJs don't match is arguing when we argue it's World War III the debate will not end (but since we are really close we forget about it after 10 min or so 😂😂) Edit: This guy is a true INTJ ...proven by experience

Oh my..... yall sounded just like me (INFJ) and my (INTJ) husband! We loved to discuss intense topics and after a 15 yrs I think we've helped each other strengthen the use of our tertiary T & F functions. We've actually started looking forward to the input from the other to gain insights/facts the other overlooked. That allows us to make quite a team with a united front when facing "adversaries." I think our Ni helped bridge the gap in secondary F & T functions. Interestingly in public, it was him that started random conversations rather than me. Perhaps he learned that in the military, IDK. It was as if he was testing how deep their thinking was on X subject and whether they were worth furthering a conversation & possibly friendship/ally. Yet it it was me that had the stronger ability to "feel" someone's true character. That lead to lots of frustrating conversations when I couldn't justify my conclusion based on a gut feeling rather than facts. With him being more domineering I usually had to back down and let time reveal the truth. He was always amazed when the "truth" eventually came out to match my gut feeling rather than facts. Have you two encountered situations like that? Be patient and be blessed, you two can make an incredible long lasting team if you learn to appreciate each other's strengths & weaknesses.

(ENFP) I will be honest. I have met several INFJs in relationship with INTJs and all broke up in a bad way. There is a wider issue with a big percentage of especially female INFJs getting abused most often by xxTJ types. Just saying out of experience. Best wishes.
@angelatewson8202
@angelatewson8202 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. If they mature out of their innate arrogance (and Daniel was a bit arrogant, natural in your 20's), then it works better. I think sexism comes into that. A male is meant to be intelligent in exactly the way an INTJ is. The INFJ intelligence is not so well understood, and in both males and females, does not not conform to society's view which until recently, has completely overlooked emotional intelligence (EQ) which many consider is more important than IQ. After all, what is more important than having good relationships with others? The INTJ falls down completely on emotional quotient, and must learn to respect it and put it in place. Female INTJs, who might be rarer than male INFJs, in particular find this hard but also find it easier to put in place. Male INTJs have real problems with factoring in emotional concerns. All our many thoughts become emotions which affect our moods and bodies, and INTJs need to realise this is a very important element for INFJs and get better at it. Otherwise it's like giving an INFJ food but no water to drink. If they can do it, the INFJ will respect and learn from their more focused approach to topics and also respect them far more. As someone says, they both have Ni and Se, but the crucial factor for an INFJ is Ni combined with both Ti and Fe - the INTJ lacks or is very weak in the feeling factor, whether introverted or extroverted. In this area, their Ni is little use. They won't see trouble coming right at them, or admit to it, until it is far too late.
@dancinmad
@dancinmad 6 жыл бұрын
In my experience (which is admittedly idiosyncratic) I wouldn't say INTJs are so lacking in emotional intelligence. It's more that they need to slow down Te so that the Fi can come through in ordinary social settings.. In terms of reading the emotional undercurrent of a situation INTJ's can be most perceptive, but, again, it's a matter of reigning in Te which comes most naturally in order to respond helpfully. I really must object to your statement that "Ni combined with Ti and Fe" is "crucial for the INFJ" but INTJ's lack feeling-- Actually, the role of Fi for INTJ is (or should be) comparable to the role of Ti for the INFJ. It is just as crucial, but more in the background. I do think you have a point though - it is very difficult for INTJs to express Fe type emotions. When we're unhappy in life, we do tend to dissociate from emotion rather than address the problem. Eventually, Te comes to the rescue, but then they will seem "cold" for addressing the apparently emotional issue using reason. I think this is very difficult to change - and also why many of us prefer to go through life solo to avoid such issues. Where you are more likely to make progress is by learning to recognize and nurture the INTJ's tertiary Fi so that it shows through more. A happy INTJ is one with a vision of the future and a plan of action in motion to actualize that vision. I think your point about thoughts (or the way a thought is expressed, etc.) affecting one's mood and functioning is well taken. For the INTJ it's like each thought becomes incorporated into a big picture, and the emotional ambiance results from the way that picture looks. Also, I must say that I think the person who brought up abuse is terribly off in left field. Perhaps it is true (it wouldn't surprise me) that most abusive men are xxTJ's. I'm not sure how this is an issue, rather than that some people are abusive. It's just a truism to say such people are less likely to be in touch with their emotions-- though I have known INFJ males who are emotionally abusive (always rooted in an insecurity about their masculinity, in my experience.) For the record, I'm not sure that INTJ x INFJ is a particularly good relationship match. I think they work well together in on a team because they each contribute a different but equally valuable skill set, but after too much time together they're likely to either burn each other out or irritate the hell out of each other.
@angelatewson8202

Thank you. I think you are right at the end about INFJs/INTJs - it is what has happened to me. I agree with a lot of what you say, but the fact that a lot of emotions go unspoken can feel very emotiionally abusive to another person, possibly more open and empathic. I have read INTJs can be quite narcissistic and your points are actually what constitutes covert narcissism. But you also have INTJs who are more self aware and compensate. Any of the types can be less or more healthy in this way. I think INTJs do have feelings but they are kept to much inside and for themselves. I've also heard relationships work better if INFJ is man and INTJ woman, which makes sense to me! Thank you for explaining so well though. I still have an open mind, though in romantic relationships, I think I'll try to avoid - as friends, they are stimulating company.

@@angelatewson8202 We INTJ males can be emotionally unavailable at times, but INFJ females can be irritatingly irrational, which can be just as abusive when rather than two people working towards a common goal of being present for one another, one person throws an emotional tantrum and throws away all the previous efforts of both. It's ridiculous to say that "emotional intelligence" is more important than objective facts. It's important to be considerate, but part of being considerate is acknowledging that there is a world outside of how you yourself feel about something.

Great video! The stereotypes are very spot on and it was interesting to see both types talking about them. As an INTP I can relate so much to the INFJ quote as an issue. I can't help but say yes, and while I say it I might even be thinking I really want to go (although sometimes I know I don't); when I'm alone I'm worried they'll think I don't like them but I'm usually more focused on the fact that I can no longer see a reason to go, since I don't like them so much (usually has to do with the kinds of conversations I expect). So I usually cancel lol. I guess it might essentially have to do with Fe/Ti-related internal conflict.
