Dieter and Lauren are still friends to this day. I think this episode shows just how genuine their friendship was! I also REALLY appreciated when Lauren actually got on Dieter and defended Jessica by stating “I watched it and it really wasn’t her, it was ALLLL Jason” Her anger wasn’t misplaced like we saw with Jessica and Alex. You could tell Jason was SHOOK! His lies and manipulation didn’t save him and Lauren was not having ANY of it! She stood her ground really well!

She was mad at Jessica before that. But I give her props..she knows that Jason is the one that is supposed to be faithful..not Jessica. And at the end..she realized that she should be blaming Jason. Not sure why she said it was all Jason...cause Jessica did kinda push herself on him at the end there. BUT Jessica didn't have any loyalties..it was Jason that did. Jessica never was friends with LC..as far as I know. So it was all Jason as far as who she should be mad at.

Jessica was aware that Lauren and Jason were together but was still sitting on his lap and being too close with Jason. It was disrespectful to do to another woman. Jason initiated everything, but Jessica was a willing participant. But you’re right, when it comes down to it, it was Jason’s responsibility to be loyal and not hurt his girlfriend. He deserved the full heat

@@nickih1307 Yeah Lauren had a right to be mad with both of them; not only did both know what was going on between Lauren and Jason, but Jason and Jessica were all over each other at a public event. As Lauren said, it made her look dumb.

The fact Lauren witnessed that and kept working shows how strong she was. If I saw my boyfriend (and my first love) kissing someone else at that age, I would be inconsolable. We should've realized then how successful she'd be. Also, Dieter is a real one.

I wouldn't call Jason her first love just because I think her very first love was actually Stephen. But, I either way it's devastating. I couldn't even imagine it all playing out on a very popular tv. show too. Unfortunately, on the hills she eventually took him back. Once again he didn't treat her the best, he cheated, and was getting extremely drunk while being on drugs. L.C probably thought we were teenagers he's grown up now.

The moment that Jason realized he had failed at gaslighting Lauren just like he had done to so many other girls before her and that she wasn’t buying it was oddly satisfying to watch. It was like finally someone was smart enough to see past all that bs he was spewing to all of them. I’m so glad to see the person he is today is what seems like light years away from who he was during this time in his life.

This episode is so good. The best hands down! This drama felt so genuine and real. It was explosive. This is when everyone took Lauren’s side, no doubt about it. The fact that Lauren caught them, and the way she handled the situation, as a 19 year old, it showed her real character. Her composure, her iconic lines. I mean. Go Lauren! You could even tell Kristin and Alex H. didn’t approve of Jessica and Jason kissing. This was so bad for both Jessica and Jason. Also, Dieter is the friend everyone needs!

I cannot BELIEVE it took me actual YEARS before I noticed how f*cked up J-Wahl was at this event, he was goooone. Not to excuse his behavior at all, just pointing out my naïveté lol. I do still find it beyond maddening how Jessica acted throughout this whole episode, it was peak immature but I do remind myself that she was younger than most of those people since she skipped a grade in school.

I lovee how intentional Lauren is with her boundaries. We've seen Heidi, Spencer, Jen Bunny, and Jason essentially try to guilt her for their shitty behavior and she is unwavering. So yes while she might not be the life of the party, guy's girl that Kristen is she is the example that young girls need to see.

The way Lauren handled herself is why she will always be adored. Heidi had it all here, she was so beautiful, she was a loyal friend, she seemed to have a bright future and she threw it all away for Spencer. I wonder what she'd be doing now if she never met him.

I always hoped they would all know the truth when they watch the episode. You can clearly see that Jason lied and Jessica didn’t force herself on him. I never get why they lie in the first place. Jessica saying they didn’t kiss makes no sense since there are cameras everywhere. Did they really think anyone believes those lies?

i genuinely wonder what Jessica thinks of LB retrospectively, it must suck that all your poor decisions as a teenager are recorded and out there. she must cringe so bad! But I think all her terrible choices and the weak attitude are linked to her low self-esteem, I see a person who can't set healthy boundaries or stand up for herself.

I’m back with another unpopular opinion but I do oddly believe that Jason was obsessed with Lauren as he says .. I just think he has bad habits and didn’t know how to break it and I think with Lauren he actually felt remorse. Like he was genuinely mad and embarrassed at himself that he continues to act like this because he knows deep down Lauren was different and he really liked her. I even notice on the hills he’s genuinely into her he just has terrible bad habits. He’s addicted to chaos and bad choices. Same way drugs give you a thrill and you go back is how he is with Jess. But I do believe he loved Lauren.

I cry every time I see this episode. The incontrollable emotions while you have to keep your composure with all eyes on you. I was so proud of Lauren and Dieter for this, and I love that they are still friends today :’) It hurt my heart to hear you joke about her saying she was beyond it because she was always really good at setting boundaries and holding her ground during this time and beyond. I loved her for this!

Jessica was especially annoying in this episode, questioning that she had to try on her outfits for the dress rehearsal and being difficult about getting her hair and make up done. Also so annoying how she played so dumb about who’s lap she sat on and kept repeating the question 🤪 I’m kinda surprised Kristin was good friends with someone so irritating, would have thought that stuff would piss her off, especially all the gawds!!!

Last episode, Timmy mentioned Heidi hunting down LC at her college to befriend her and make it on the show, and apparently that’s true! Well, according to Stephanie Pratt when she used to be on that podcast with Wells Adams.

Also I feel like how Heidi, who’s only in laguna because of Lauren, immediately befriends the other laguna star Kristen shows she was in if for the fame. If I bring a new friend from college home for the summer with me and she very quickly befriends someone I’m not cool with I’d be immediately suspicious and put off.

Yea but take that with a grain of salt. A simple google search shows that season one of LB didn’t even air until 9-28 and the girls would’ve been in college for over a month. They clearly met organically and I think with Heidi’s fun and cheerful personality it would be hard not be instant friends with her. She obviously capitalized off of who LC was but i don’t think she work up one day in Italy and decided to stalk out the girl of a show that hadn’t even aired yet.

@@heatherakers9298 totally agree. Heidi definitely capitalized on Lauren later on but according to the timeline they met by chance. I think Heidi was honest when in the podcast stated that she expected this mysterious MTV star to be a "loser" since at the time MTV realities were shows like Made or Sweet16

Stephanie Pratt, like her brother and Heidi have become so caught up in their own lies, they believe everything they say as the truth, time and time again they say things and then every other person has a different recollection of the actual events. Heidi and LC were friends because they were friends, that may have changed during The Hills, but they were genuine to begin. During Laguna Beach, they were doing regular aftershows and The Hills was no different, there were multiple times where Heidi and Lauren mentioned their friendship and how they met. It had nothing to do with the show. Timmy is the worst cynic imaginable, it makes for funny commentary, but he always thinks the worst in everybody to maintain the sarcasm and he clearly dislikes Lauren, despite what he says, so naturally if he can bring her down, he will.

I remember Lauren saying Jen Bunney kissed Jason too. During the "Brody incident" she definitely didn't have her back here. And how Jason never trusted Heidi, hence the harsh "shut up"

Dieter was the nicest guy on LB. And I love that Lauren actually realised Jason was just as involved as Jessica. I remember the first time I watched this episode, my jaw hit the floor. I hope Lauren and Dieter are still friends!

I have thoughts at age 34 now regarding Dieter and Lauren. I think he reacted pretty strongly towards Jason and Jessica not only because he was friends with Lauren but remember, Jessica and Dieter dated in season 1. I have a feeling she cheated on him or immediately dated Jason after (?) or at least started hooking up with him. So I think this had a mixture of anger towards Jessica for what she did to him and now to his friend. *logs off*

I think D was still into Jessica. I think Jason was still attracted to Jessica but wanted the “relationship” with LC- since she was the older, more confident of the two. Narc personalities love love love to take down someone that has high self-esteem. Alex and Jess were easy pickings. LC was the challenge - how far could he push her? Turned out pretty far. Hopefully Jason is better now, but at that time - he was grossly toxic

Jason has said he had issues in high school and I think it shows a lot in this episode. He had a weird walk on the runway and looked not in control of anything. He looked like a lost puppy after she confronted him, as if he had no idea what actually happened. It’s sad to see especially knowing how much he struggled with addiction.

Re-watching Laguna Beach with Whit and Timmy has been amazing. I am shocked how blinded I was by my Stephen crush back in the day and now I can see that the girls were better off without his immature head games (and head noogies). I also didn’t expect low-key Alex (real name Lauren but let’s not confuse everyone) to become my new favorite character! How did I not see how awesome she is when I was younger? Fill disclosure: I creeped her Instagram...and was very happy to see that she married a total babe, has a beautiful family, and is living in Hawaii and is aging like a goddess. Go Alex!

Happy Birthday Annie!!! Wow this ep was MESSY. Y’all made me laugh soooo hard too. I almost choked on my water at one point 😂 It was truly amazing how LC stood up for herself and refused to fall for Jason’s manipulation. In the 00s there were basically no conversations about boundaries esp for teenagers. I know I put up with some absolute nonsense from both friends and people I dated. She was ahead of the time. And thank goodness Jason got help, he seems like a different person now.
