My boss told me last week to use detergent on my face. I said no that's not healthy for your skin. . She said, the best thing to do is to dry everything out. Don't use moisturizer, just wash with the detergent and leave it to dry.. OMG! I nearly died. I have hormonal acne.. Nothing works. Hormone treatments coming in July/August though 🥳 Hope that is the treatment I am looking for.

@@elles9540 Not yet, I use a retinol toner by Pixi which is pretty good for now, but this September I'm buying it for my mom's birthday with some other products for her. Me too!!! My mom and both my grandma have been super into skincare (and makeup, although we are Italians so we don't use too much makeup, it's always natural-looking) since they were young and have really good genes I have to say; my mom especially is around 65 and has no crowsfeet and very few lines. I started using my first moisturizer when I was 11-12 (I used to beeeg my mom for it), and sunscreen a bit later (since as you might remember, our generations of teenagers were obsessed with tanning - even though I couldn't tan because I'm super pale); as I hit my 20s I've been using vitamin c and now a bit of retinol. I had of course to go to dermatologists for my skin condition (which is due to my dad's genetics) but other than my medications once a year my skincare routine helps sooo freaking much. And the B3 in this cream helps a lot with the occasional redness! Sorry for the essay but I'm really passionate about it xD lol

This is off topic, but I wonder if there is such a thing as "environmental" acne, not about pollution or contaminants but in the sense of living with really mean people in such a toxic and hostile environment that your face and body just break out. It's not fungal, not the acne bacteria... or is it, and the immune system just can't handle it because living in a toxic situation lowers the immune response? I was just wondering. For example some days I wake up with relatively OK skin, but then when there is a sudden toxic "episode" I get very red, like inflammed, and in a few hours I'm breaking out really bad. Does anyone else's skin react to stress so visibly and immediately?
@leopardface1
@leopardface1 3 жыл бұрын
I would say that is a stress response. If you already suffer with acne, stressful situations can worsen it due to slower healing and also stress related hormones. There's lots of information about it online :)

this isn’t a new thing, stress acne is very real and very common. it’s not always hormonal. same with redness, if it’s hot out your skin can get red immediately, or any change in temperature really, cold or hot, it’s not uncommon. that toxicity is causing you stress resulting in breakouts

I 100% agree with you on the sunscreen as a child and not being diligent. I used to be a lifeguard and if I got lucky I would maybe apply sunscreen once during the 12 hour shift. Learn from me wear sunscreen because I already have sun spots and I am not even 20.

My skincare was like this growing up. I used the generic olay cloths Didn’t wash my face sometimes. Never had been one pimple. Now I have a routine I follow strictly & supplements I take & my skin will never be as good as it was until I hit 29

I swapped my Estée Lauder resilience day cream (I ran out) for Olay with an spf in it (it’s like £10) and it’s very good keeps my skin so lovely. I still use my Bobbi Brown extra eye repair cream and no one can tell me it doesn’t work, because it does.

@@JustA.witch. She was probably mislead because some of the clay used in cat litter is similar to the clay used in commercial clay masks so she probably thought it would be a decent inexpensive dupe. When she was younger she probably didn’t realize that skin-grade versions of these ingredients are specifically tested to be safe for the skin and are purified/refined.

So I'm a 23 years old female who had no skincare routine before the pandemic started. I used to wash my face and go to bed, that was it. Was it working? Kinda. I had pimples when I had my period but other than that I mostly had nice skin. Now I'm using 2 serums and 2 different active ingredients during the day. Is there any difference? I don't think so. But I feel much better. Skincare is self-care so it shouldn't be complex or expansive. My biggest mistake is that I don't use any sunscreen because I hate it so much. Whenever I wear it I feel very greasy even though I'm using a non-comedogenic and oily-free one.

A number of derms and Lab Muffin have done videos on the benzene issue. As for using body sunscreens on the face, it can be done but do a test patch under your chin to see how your skin reacts.
