I rate and react to the San Marino entry for Eurovision 2024 11:11 by Megara looking at different aspects of the song and performance including lyrics, voice, performance and the song itself. I also try to predict San Marino’s chances of doing well at Eurovision. Will this qualify?

I think even Loreen would look and sound like a flop on the Una Voce per San Marino stage, really curious to see them in the big Eurovision cause I'm sure their chaos would work on a bigger stager with better production and sound quality.

Yep. Her semifinal performance was PAINFUL to watch because she was in the middle of the actual bronchitis.

I noticed that the timestamp 11:11 is exactly where you said 'zero points'. Hopefully, that's not what the result will be for Megara in Malmö!

San Marino probably saved Loredana from a NQ result because besides SanRemo viewers and Italy it would have been hard to get points from elsewhere, so it would have likely ended up being an Achille-like result.

Megara has some advantages: energetic song, decent vocalist, visually memorable. The performance and camera angles can be improved, the flamenco mid 8 should be way more accentuated, and the song probably needs a bit of revamp (some hook).

Loved Arcadia. This suffers from being @ UVPSM. If they can get a creative team to get a staging like they had last year in BenFest then this will scrub up very nicely indeed and do very well. But the fact that given that they had significant limitations and still managed to give something interesting makes me hopeful for Malmö.

Yes! Automatic 12 from Spain and Italy must also give them something. And don't see it splitting rock votes, maybe only with Czechia and Norway a bit but so far no other party rock song!

Will definitely do it. They'll have problems, but it's a sure bet... and remember this: even having problems to qualify, they'll destroy it at the finals. Probably top 5.

I never expected a reject from Benidorm to win in San Marino ! But well that's a cool song even though this year is quite strong and I doubt they can qualify. The lyrics are ironically fitted perfectly for their situation, Spain didn't want them but San Marino do want them. Quite funny performance. Not in my favorites but I can see the appeal. I am so excited for UK, Austria and Greece so I have big expectations and I hope so much they will deliver quality.

I agree 100% with you, I somehow can‘t get into the song and have trouble remembering any melodies. But maybe it will grow on me :)

This is an overgeneralization. You may like it, love it, screaming entries just don't appeal to most people. It also comes across as agressive. This doesn't mean people cannot see a song has a good message or a band has quality. Italy has won, and on a LOW volume I personally really loved the song. And in Eurovision there are so many options so yeah, I would not vote for it.

Måneskin isn't pop. Kalush Orchestra isn't pop. Nor is Kaarija, Tvorchi, and many other artist. That isn't the problem with this song. I like all kinds of rock but this song is not it. There is nothing truly distinctive about it and it kind of fades into the backend when I listen to it because the musicality of it is rather bland for its genre, unlike other rock songs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I would really like that tiny San Marino🇸🇲 qualifies and I'm rooting that this happen. But I agree with you, if this qualify this will be borderliner. But they're very lucky to have 🇮🇹 and 🇪🇦 voting. This can be crucial for 🇸🇲 to qualify. And when you mention who's gonna Q and NQ from this semi (we can start speculate,although we don't know like half of the songs, and it can change completely). I also think that for now 🇨🇿🇦🇱🇲🇹 are the least likely to Q, little better chances I would give to 🇩🇰 and 🇱🇻, and than I would put 🇸🇲 (as I said, it can pass as borderliner because of 🇮🇹 and 🇪🇦). And I have no doubt that for now 🇧🇪🇳🇴🇪🇪 are sure Q.

Super Song !! 😀😀😀😀Quelle : ESC Kompact : 11:11“ ist ein rockiger Song, in dem neben „klassischen Rock-Instrumenten“ wie Bass und Schlagzeug auch elektronische Sounds zum Einsatz kommen. Die spanischen Einflüssen hört man dann in der Bridge: dort werden Flamenco-Gitarren-Klänge angedeutet. Der Song ist durch sein Arrangement und dem Gesang der Lead-Sängerin Kenzy extrem powervoll und nach vorne gehend. Der spanische Text ist eine Fuck-Off-Message: trotz gebrochenem Herz ist klar, sie werden von anderen geliebt werden. Im Text heißt es „Was ist, wenn du mich nicht liebst? Andere Leute werden mich lieben!“. Dabei muss sich das nicht unbedingt auf eine Beziehung beziehen, sondern auch auf die Reaktionen, die sie als Band erlebt haben. Unter anderem singen sie auch „Wir haben Benidorm angezündet“ und „Wir feiern gerne. Aber wir lieben Rock!“ Geschrieben wurde „11:11“ von Isra Dante Ramos Solomando, Roberto la Lueta Ruiz und Sara Jiménez Moral.💪

Megara was my favourite for Spain last year so I'm happy that they get another chance to go to Eurovision, the link with Nebulossa and Spain / San Marino is just too funny. That said, I think it's such a shame that it's with this song, Arcadia was much much better sonically. The other issue for me is that in my personal opinion, the Spanish language doesn't suit heavy music, there aren't enough plosive sounds as in English or German for example to convey the aggression. I'm really hoping that Megara can elevate this song to qualify!

3/5.I do think the song itself is inferior compared to "Arcadia",but it's a creative entry and kept me engaged from start to finish. Prediction: 8th-12th in the Semis,bottom 5 if they manage to qualify.

I didn't like Arcadia last year, but I absolutely love this song. Probably you wouldn't know it being German, but the "M E L A P E L A, que si tú no me quires otra gente me querrá" is a play on a nursery rhyme, that says "H I J K L M N A, que si tú no me quieres otro amante me querrá". (I know, I know, "amante" is completely age inappropriate for children, but nursery rhymes used to be weird in general... they sing is differently these days). Anyway, Megara sing it with a slightly altered melody, but exactly the same rhythm. It's very catchy, at least for me, since I have been singing that all my life. I could see this having done really well with the public in Spain had they been allowed to showcase it... and I don't think San Marino will be able to promote it well enough, but I sure hope they do well...

I agree with some of your comments, but I am enjoying this song A LOT. It did take me two or three listens for it to suddenly spring out from over the rest as a powerful, catchy, in-your-face, unapologetic song full of character. I do find the hook memorable, and yes, the break with the flamenco segment does give it variety. I agree that it does feel a bit messy in the staging, so I hope they clean it up a bit (no, sorry, wrong verb), I hope they do /shape/ it into a coherent whole, despite the purpose of the message being of uniqueness and authenticity, almost like breaking rules (windows95man anyone?). So I REALLY hope it makes it into the final and that Spain votes for it and gives it a respectable finish. There are many good songs this year, but this one is the highlight for me. Time for San Marino to make some history!

The quality of San Marino production on stage is really low, no stagging, bad camera work, bad sound mixing... It is hard to shine in such conditions. Megara's biggest assets are their freshness, their charm and how passionate they are to participate and make something weird, a little bit freaky, which is very San Marino in ESC. So I am hopeful for ESC that this can be the underdog we all root for. And it seems likely that this will be a 15 participant only semi final, so the odds of qualifying are higher.

I'm really happy Megara won. There was two major letdowns last night, one was Ice MC, Dj Jad & Corona (really, wtf was that) and the other was... yeah, Loredana. She's a legend, but the song is meh, vocals were mediocre and the staging was just her static and screaming. I didn't like Megara first time I saw them in their semifinal. Apparently the vocalist was sick and even then performed. Last night was a completely different thing. Song has so many different elements that may cause confusion, but once you get used to them put together is a complete banger. They're not only making it to the final, but probably get a top 5 final position at Malmö. Mark my words.

Tengo entendido que el año pasado Megara alquiló un local con las medidas del escenario del Benidorm Fest para preparar la puesta en escena de "Arcadia" y el vestuario lo confeccionaron entre dos familiares de uno de los componentes del grupo (si recuerdo bien). Son muy concienzudos y por esa razón yo confio en que pueden engrandecer esta actuación en Malmo (a mi el vídeo de la canción me encanta). Otra cosa es que "11:11" pueda gustar más o menos que "Arcadia", porque todos tenemos nuestras preferencias. ¡Ah! Kenzy ayer sonaba bastante recuperada porque en el primer pase en San Marino estaba tan enferma que casi sufrías con ella cuando cantaba.

8/10 The more you listen to it, the more you get hooked. Can't wait to see their staging at Malmö, it could be the great surprise of the finals.

Megara’s sound and vocal tone reminds me so much of one of my favorite bands, Garbage. In fact, Garbage’s name has a similar origin story as this song - they named themselves that after a music executive said their demo tape sounded like “garbage.” And of course they went on to be very successful. I hope this qualifies and does well, but Megara making it to Malmö is already a great story!

I think there's a bias towards the marks because it's San Marino. Yeah they have bad production and sound mixing in their NF but that doesn't mean the song is bad or it will be the same in Malmo. No hate but that's my opinion.

La voz nunca puede ser un 2 y medio, ya que es su punto fuerte, aunque no sonara tambien por el sonido seria por lo menos 4 estrellas y su performace fue muy buena, aunque su puesta en escena no tanto. La cancion no es tan buena pero en el vivo superara a muchas mejores canciones.

Not as good as Arcadia, but it's definitely gonna qualify. Hopefully, they're gonna earn San Marino their best result ever. They deserve so much more than Say Na Na Na, a song I've never really gotten into. It's also a funny coincidence that Spain is being represented by an Una Voce Per San Marino reject, while San Marino is competing with a Benidorm Fest reject.

Haha clocked the swap between Nebulossa and Megara lol. Got to applaud them for pure determination and tenacity. However, as a fan of rock, I too agree with you. This is a very bland rock song that fades into the background for me as it doesn't really have a memorable musicality to it other than a cool flamenco inspired bridge which I think they should lean into more if they decide to change up their song in anyway (which I doubt they will). I wished they waited and entered with a stronger song. Arcadia was stronger than this. Even songs in their back catalog like Hocus Pocus is much more catchy. I will say that I like where they are going with staging though, because there is an interesting vision forming. It's not there yet but idk maybe they will skirt by on preformance, the fact that there aren't many songs in this genre, and because Spain will vote for them.

I mean, its ok for eurovision, but for San marino its their best song since 2021, and seeing they are in Semi 2 where you can find Czechia, Albania, Denmark and malta, countries that for me san marino has better song, i think they can Qualify, and the final, i mean its san marino not a top 10 (well who knows) but maybe out of top bottom

Spain will vote for them but the only countries I think won't qualify are Czechia and if Albania do change there song to English I don't think it will qualify and my opinion on San Marino song I like rock music but this song for me is meh I might be wrong but I'm gonna say it won't qualify

This is the only ESC 2024 song for which I can say: "this is an ugly song, they perform badly and I don't want to listen to them again". In my personal chart, this is 314th place.

Sadly, there‘s quite a few other songs this year about which I could say the same. It‘s the weakest Eurovision season I’ve witnessed in at least a decade, if not ever.

I think Megara has achieved the most difficult thing: win San Marino with their poor means. Now with time and support and their hard work I expect they shall make history in Malmo! Just wait and see! ✌️🖤💜💪
