Liya Manuel lol I got some weird krap: 2 9s, 2 8s, a 7, 2 6s, a 5, a 4 and a 3 That 4 and 3 I really didn’t spend much time on so I really don’t care

I got 3 6s, 2 4s, distinction, distinction* and a 5-5 (combined science)

As someone who did both the old and the new maths GCSEs (I sat it in year 10 and my school made me do the new ones in year 11 despite getting an A*) the new ones are not much harder than the old ones

I think people exaggerate a bit. My year was the 1st year to ever do the new graded system in maths, english lang and lit and to be fair I only really noticed the difference in maths. The only thing harder was the amount of content, but it wasn't unbearable. I also think the grade boundaries are significantly lower than the years before the new gcses. The fact that 15% would get you a 4 last year in maths is quite ridiculous.

Aimee Gardner the first year got an advantage from examiners since it would of been harder to teach and no past papers to practise with

I started intense revision about 3 months before GCSE’s started. I learnt quotes by looking at them then writing them out by memory, this was really effective for me because i could see the words when trying to remember the quotes. For English language i practised 10 markers from time to time to improve my analytical skills.

Siham12345 Buule depends on which year you’re in? If u give me a bit more detail about yourself and subjects? Generally, in the shortest way I can say it is: Year 10- if you don’t understand something, go to a teacher! Make sure that you understand everything, otherwise it builds up by Year 11! Cue cards with questions and answers are really helpful instead of rewriting ‘pretty’ notes you won’t even remember later on. Also, grasp the simple concepts first, cos in the exams I always missed out the easier bits because less emphasis was put on them... e.g. definitions etc. Also, use Year 10 as your ‘experimenting’ year, to see what revision techniques work for you... cos I left it a bit too late I think... Year 11- from the start you need to do revision! Not huge amounts but in small chunks from topics in Year 10 so that your brain doesn’t go into overload before GCSEs! Start proper hardcore revision 2-3 months before GCSEs, really really REALLY drill that knowledge into your brain! And past papers are golden! Do tons and tons of them! Btw, don’t be disappointed by any mock grades etc that you get- use them to LEARN from your mistakes!
