Im calvin from minnesota, thank you for the nice comments! The turtle’s name is jasper, and the background is just a wallpaper that was there previously before the tank was set up. I thought it looked cool so me and my mom put jaspers tank there! We have tried to put natrual plants in there but jasper is just a monster and does not allow anything living in her tank exept for herself 😅

Hey this is Matthew from England and I can tell you that the plants have indeed not lasted 😂, I’ve changed the tank to have no plants but a lot of different wood and rocks to hide in, I also added a very large piece of wood that sticks out the water for a more natural basking area and I have seen them use it but at night

🌵 - these tanks have been really inspiring 🥹. I made my box turtles enclosure from a large sized dog pool and it’s pretty exciting. My special needs painted is in a 40B with canister and these really put her digs to shame 😂🖤.

I'm so excited because I'm upgrading my tank in about 2 weeks for my two 6 month old female red eared sliders. I'm going up to a 40 gallon. (Evertually will go even bigger) . Ordering the new filter on Tuesday and when that comes in, I'll get it all set up. I'm so excited for them. They are gonna love it. Already got a bunch of decor for them. I'm so excited.

Please tell me youre gonna do another one of these. Im almost done with my 20gal enclosure thats planted. Keeping a baby red eared slider in there. Shes about 4 months old. Saved her from a crawfish boil. 😅 Theres fish and shrimp in there as well. I just have to finish the above enclosure basking area and lighting. So excited to finish.

For Christmas last year I got a 20 gallon fish tank but since I can't get a turtle or axolotl now I just crocheted plushies and shred some paper for substrate.

Hi, tell me, please, how often should I feed my red-eared sliders, one 5 inches, the other 7 inches. I feed only pellets. The turtles are 2 years old. I give a portion from the head. Thanks.

Feed them a LOT at breakfast and give them some snacks in the afternoon and then a LOT in the evening for dinner. Then your turtles will smile.

Definitely need to keep an eye on the turtles eating pothos. I tried growing some above the waterline with the roots in the water. The amount the turtles ate after pulling the entire plant in the tank just over night was unbelievable. I was worried but all was good in the end. I want to try again for the filtration but will try to have an enclosure at the water level and above where they can only chomp on excess roots

I’ve yet to manage to keep plants in with my turtles. Currently trying to pack a 20 gallon with plants to introduce all at once and see if they can still ruin em. I do have about 50 cichlids in the tank with them and they all get along well so I guess i can’t have all the luck. Only issue is the cichlids stealing food out my turtles mouths but it’s worked for me with no problems for years.

Hey i love your videos! My turtle has been basking however he does so with his head in the water and his eyes are closed (he/she can still open it’s eyes though) I was wondering if that is something to worry about he also has his eyes close lately but opens them when he/ she hears someone coming. I go him/ she this week. Thank you!

What I really want to know is where everyone is getting these nice wired sided tank toppers? I can't find them anywhere! Only the full plastic one. So if I can't find this I'll have to make my own. I feel like ours really likes fresh air when basking.

I have a question about the basking/top glass part of the tank it gets dirty from water splashes dust and so on how do I keep it clean and what do you use to clean it and maybe when would you clean it?

Very cool and fun video to watch and get some great ideas from other peoples set ups. I submitted a few very high res pictures of both my common and alligator snapping turtle tanks to the link in the description in case you do another video! The turtles are in the pics but being the type they are, you have to find them! Both tanks have a mix of real and fake plants. It’s a constant struggle to keep them planted with these little earth movers!

Hey ! I would like to ask if a 55 gallon tank with a large no water area on top of the tank ( with basking lights ) with no filter ( I do regular water changes every 2 days ,I also feed my turtles in a different tank during feeding time cause they are messy eaters ) is an OK environment for two male southern painted turtles . 🌵I really like crayfish and wanted one for my turtle tank but I wasn't sure. I know that they're more so bottom dwellers but I'm scared that the crayfish might try to nip my turtle. If anyone has any advice it would be most appreciated.😊

Hi😊 , I'm about to do an upgrade for my M. sinensis. I tried to give her life plants before and even them got quite dirty (so I would imagine artificial once get even dirtier). I have a huge filter for the new enclosure, but wonder if you have to clean all the plants regularly (or was this mainly a matter of the filtration)? Thanks 🌵

If you have fake plants, you can just clean them in the dirty tank water when you do your water changes if they get gross (which doesn’t happen all the time, just overtime they will naturally develop a biofilm)

great question! sometimes things can build up on the plant leaves...but I find that adding some kind of wavemaker to increase flow and circulation can help. Also fish like algae eaters (siamese algae eaters, otocinclus, things like that!)

I have an aquarium half full of water and I have to deal with water scale mostly because a turtle splashes the water on the glass above the water surface. I just can't keep the glass clean. Is there anything that can be done to prevent leaks/scale from forming so easily? Maybe something I can put on the glass so it was kind of water resistant?

I'd recommend a substrate! I've also used tile before...but definitely prefer sand :) maybe I'll make a video on them soon :)

Hello I've been watching for a little bit now and I was wondering if you had any tank tips for a turtle who was actually handicapped I recently saved a painted turtle he's missing his front left arm and I really worry about his mobility mostly because I found him as a hatchling in the shallows and I'm not a hundred percent sure how well he does in deeper water it's only been about 2 weeks so he can't be older than two months. I noticed that he does have a hard time pulling himself up out of the water and properly basking. So I have been pulling him out for maybe an hour to 30 minutes of basking in a dry environment

Reeves turtles are actually good swimmers, idk why people keep saying they're not good swimmers. They're also called 'pond turtles' so maybe they're just not good with high flow water.

Hi, I have a young yellow eared slider and river cooter. The cooter eats turtle food no problem and is getting big but the yellow ear only picks at the bottom of the tank for food so I've been feeding him black worms and blood worms and brine shrimp. I really want him to eat pellet food too. I feed in tank so any help getting him to eat at the surface? I was also thinking of putting guppies in the tank for feeding. Any other food that is good at the bottom of the tank?

First time commenting on your videos and I need some serious help! Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So we have a red eared slider and we don’t know how to keep his filter from getting so dirty. I will admit we have been doing a bunch of no nos (like constant water changes) but we’re still learning. Recently we’ve been noticing our filter has just been giving out but we honestly don’t know which filter to get next since we live in an apartment and don’t want to make that much noise with the filter. Right now we have a 20 gallon tank, so is there any apartment friendly quiet filters out there? 🥺🙏

Hey, I am decorating a new (bigger) turtle tank and I am looking for ways to make a better island with sand for my turtle. Does anyone have any tips? We just took in a 1.5 year old yellow belly slider. We upgraded her to a reptihabitat 40 from a tiny 10 gal tank. She now has plenty of room to roam around and has a reinforced foam floating turtle dock, a heat lamp, heater, filter and another type of lamp that came with the repti kit. We ordered her some artificial plants from Amazon and as soon as we put them in her tank she tried to them them and I got scared and took them out 😮 we need help on what else to do in her tank! -sincerely new turtle parents!

Hi Turtle Girl. I’ve just found you and love your content. I have just bought my very first turtle. I’m totally in love with him. I’m an Australian and so is my boy Reggie. He’s a 12 month old Macleay River Turtle. Very funky and super cute. He has a large array of fish and a couple of plecos living with him. He come with some and I’ve added to more. So far he’s only eaten the food I’ve feed him so 100% success with tank mates. My question is apart from pothos, do you have a list (long or short) of your favourite real natural plants for turtle tanks. Your opinion would be muchly appreciated. ♥️🐢♥️

I BOUGHT 2 RED EARED SLIDERS 1 MALE AND 1 FEMALE RECENTLY . Guys i need help, i cant get my turtle to eat in a separate container (as most turtle keepers do), he just won’t eat. He will look at the food and then get right back to trying to escape, he won’t eat in there at all. I had a large container and got an even bigger one and that didn’t work. He used to eat in the container as a hatchling but won’t now. He will only eat in the tank which dirties it up very badly And is messing up my live plants. It just makes such a mess. And even in the tank he is barely interested in the food,Im scared, should i take him to the vet? What do i do?

Hello!! I actually have a query for my turtle! Shes keeps on sleeping in the corner of her tank its not like its a problem but shes literally there for an hour almost every day and im kind of getting concerned! Any help would be great!:) Regards.

frequent basking isn't really a problem! Lots of turtles spend a good amount of time per day basking. If everything else about her seems normal, I wouldn't worry too much

Are the light setup alright or is she not commenting on it? I thought turtle tends to need a lot of UV light, and in the first tank the light is way too far away, in the second tank the light is tilted which may hurt the turtle's eye, also there aren't a large enough land to let the turtle choose an area hotter or colder?

10 gallons is realllllyyyy small for just one of your turtles, let alone both. I'd fill it all the way up for sure and then look into getting a larger enclosure asap

Hello.. you are so helpful.. Please help me as well.. My turtle is not eating and pooping for last 5-6 days.. and there is something in it's eye which is very irritating for it.. please suggest me something.. hope you will definitely find a solution.. Can you buy a snapping turtle a red-eared slider turtle a soft-shell turtle a box turtle and name them the snapping turtle Raphael the red eared slider leonardo the soft-shell Donatello the box turtle Micheangelo after the ninja turtles
