Unsure how you can praise a rabbit being stuck inside a small closet all day but hate on a large secure enclosure outside that allows them to perform all of their natural instincts. Even with access to some free roaming, being stuck in that tiny closet for any period of the day is cruel. But because theyve found a way to keep their bunny inside they get praise? I have a very similar setup to the first one and my rabbits are thriving. They have 60 square feet of secure space, an 8x2ft hutch that's permanently open and access to the entire garden in the day time when we are home. When it rains my rabbits choose to sit in the rain rather than seek shelter. They loved running around in the snow. In the summer they love digging and lying in the soil. They can eat grass all day. They love sitting on their cat tree inside the run watching the birds in the garden. Sure domestic rabbits are different to wild ones but still enjoy and display a lot of the same things. Rabbits can be more destructive than your average cat or dog, so not everyone can have them inside. This isn't me hating, just providing a counter argument.

I wish you knew the full story to why my rabbit is in my closet. He lived in an avery most of his life but for personal reasons I had to bring him inside. I have endless animals in my house so I have to keep him high enough to keep them out. I fo have doors and such. Obviously not full wooden doors, but he has a massive deck to ho on whne I’m home. It’s not the best cage ever but it’s what keeps him safe. Everyone is bashing on my rabbit enclosure which is understandable since everyone is passionate.

I had one male rabbit for eight years and now have two sisters and the first bunny loved to be able to come and chill inside when ever we had time to take him inside. He learned where to go to get treats, how to tell us when he was thirsty and when he wanted to sit on the sofa with us. He lived outside in a old playhouse me and my sisster used to sleep in during the summers when we were younger. We sometimes even slept thee people inside of there before we rebuilt it to a bunny house. My bunny loved to sit up high so we put up a bunch of levels to allow him to look out through the windows. The sissters are a little over one year old. They got our old bunnies house and they love it just as much as our old bunny did and they also got a HUGE outdoor area with grass, a bush and loads of things to play with. They are always happy when they get to go outside and play, however they are really scared of being inside with us. They start to breathe really heavy, and both of them usually goes to lay down in a corner where they kind of feel safe. They never gi outside that one room and we have tried to bring them out to the sofa to let them get used to it but they just hate it. It is also way to hot for them inside so we don't feel comfortable with forcing them to be inside 24/7. It does not have to do with them not getting exposed to being inside when they were small since we tried to let them inside once a day to get to know new textures, sounds and smells from the age of about four months to now. We are at the moment trying to grow more grass in their big outdoor area so they get to be in a little bit of a smaller cage about 3x5 meters. They do not have a aesthetic living situation but they love it and both of them are healthy.

The first is an outdoor predator proof enclosure, which is really common in the UK. It looks like the rabbits had a lot of space to hop, jump and binky. Rabbits who are kept in pairs or groups (as they should be) don’t need humans for company. They also appear to have the space recommended by the RWAF. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but it meets the rabbits needs, which is great. The same applies to the shed, which has an open hutch as a hideaway for the rabbit. The enclosure in the closet, however, does not meet a rabbits needs. Each level didn’t appear to be at least 1m high (to allow them to stand up on their back legs) and also seems dangerous if the rabbit was to fall off the top level if the door was suddenly opened. Rabbits have very delicate spines. A rabbit should also never be locked into an enclosure that doesn’t meet the minimum requirements, for any amount of time. This is well below the recommended space a rabbit needs.

Yeah I don't understand how the closet scored better. I think people need to consider that being outside is totally different depending on what country you're in and that sometimes there is no choice to have them inside. I've also found when I give mine free access to outside they'll just happily sit out there in all weather 😂

Yes! The outdoor housing was bashed completely unnecessarily. I am pretty the vast majority of rabbits would rather live together in a large outdoor space, than locked up in a tiny closet alone and unable to run or hop. And it is a cultural difference as well. I live in Europe and some rescues would not even adopt their bunnies out to indoor housing and I never saw a rescue that would adopt out single bunnies (unless there is a medical problem or something)

@@cinnamorollbabiesxx It depends on the type of hutch - for example, the first one is perfectly fine to house rabbits in but would need some modifications to make it fully suitable. The one shown at 7:30 (specifically the hutch in the far away corner) would not be suitable whatsoever (however this person is using theirs as a large hideout, which is perfectly fine to do). I just don't get why Lorelei scored these two so poorly yet gave the closet one an A when it's virtually the exact same as the hutch shown in the 5th enclosure, with the only real difference being that it's indoors and has an extra level. It doesn't meet a rabbit's space requirements at all (that being 3 metres length * 2 metres width * 1 metre high). It's frustrating that she automatically gives enclosures a bad rating just because they're outdoors rather than giving people advice on how they can make their outdoor enclosures more suitable 😕

@@cinnamorollbabiesxx I definitely agree with her saying that having rabbits indoors is far better than outdoors - but that's just not an option for everyone. The whole "What part of your brain...?" comment was rude and unnecessary, too. I don't mind people getting critizised. But I really hate how so much seems to be about how it looks, as well as projecting human feelings on bunnies. It's not bad for them if it doesn't look good or looks "bleak". It also doesn't hurt them if it's messy/cluttered and there is a lot of hay everywhere. It just seems unnessesairy since it really doesn't matter for the bunny and she kind of sounds disgusted. And on the flip side if it does look good it seems to get a lot of praise automatically, even if it's small.

I had a white rabbit (Idk what breed it was) that lived in my family's backyard all the time & it lived for roughly 10 years. I currently have a Dutch mix that's also living in the backyard & it gets to run around & munch on grass. I'm definitely a lot more careful of her diet in comparison to my last rabbit & with her regular grooming, her fur is soft & shiny & she's healthy. She's also not afraid to approach people & because I pet her a lot, she would demand more pets from me if I were to stop. The reason why the rabbits were kept outside was because our landlord doesn't like indoor pets.

Hutches are almost always way too small. And I wasn't talking about keeping rabbits outside in my comment, though I don't like the quick judgements she makes I do still think it's almost always far better for rabbits to be kept inside. Rabbits aren't supposed to smell at all, if they do something is really wrong. If it's from their pee it needs to be cleaned more often. Rabbits are almost never agressive towards humans, it usually only happens if they are really terrified or in pain.

Hi, I have the first enclosure in the video. Please allow me to react: 1. it's impractical: I am willing to go outside every day to spend time with my bunnies. They can hop on the grass every now and then. I do not have to worry about hay or an accident inside. So yes they are in the garden, yes I have to walk maybe 20 seconds to them, but i am willing to. What is the problem? You're creating problems here, just to blame me. 2. It's not safe: Yes it is. We worked days on this enclosure, my pinky finger can fit nowhere through. The tiles are super heavy. I regularly check if there are no signs of broken parts. Nothing can go in or out. 3. It's bleak: are my rabbits judging the astethics of the enclosure? There are few decoration options for outdoor enclosures that are rabbit proof, so I chose to not decorate for their safety. I am so so sorry that you think that affects the 'score' of the enclosure. 4. The diet: They get fresh greens every day. This is most of the time a mix of brocolli, carrot, carrot tops, lettuce, cucumber, banana, blueberries, cauliflower leaves, apple, etc. . I give the cauliflower leaves in moderation because they can get windy, and some fruits as a snack. They also get some pellets and unlimited hay. What bothers you? 5 You're treating them as farm animals: Yes the enclosure looks like it could come from a western movie. That's because triangles are strong, so it's just practical. Once again, I am sorry if that is 'wrong' bunny care. You have no idea how loved my bunnies are. They are prefectly healty and super happy. 6. Why don't you want to bring them inside: Most of my family members are allergic. Bunny proofing is never 100% effective. I have a loving family to watch movies with, my bunnies can chill outside, where they have fun, where they can do what they want, not what we want them to do. The rest is for another time, if I keep typing I will get furious. man I am angry.

I'm very sorry for how Lorelei rated your enclosure. She even ignored a person's email about why the person needed plastic on the couch for their special-needs bunny, and roasted them instead for it without mention. She's turning into an extremely classist and elitist channel, and the majority of people here are aware how your enclosure is very amazing! There are a few who share her classist and elitist opinion, though. There are indoor rabbits that get a smaller amount of space, and no food/water seen, but it's fine because it's "aesthetic". yet, these same people get their panties in a twist when they see an incredible, safe enclosure, with a rabbit that gets a bunch of space to run, yummy greens, and the ability to dig! I wouldn't worry about her rating when she simply rates based off aesthetic, vs the rabbit's needs!

I really don't understand how you completely roast one habitat more or less only because it is outdoors, even though it's big, but then raise the indoor closet cage to the skies. I'm not a fan of keeping bunnies outdoors, but that reasoning seems completely illogical to me. Not saying the outdoor enclosure was good, just saying that the closet cage should not be praised like that at all. It's nothing more than a three story cage. Also I agree with some of the others that have commented that aesthetics shouldn't really matter because the bunnies don't care. Sure, it's a plus for the owner but bad aesthetics shouldn't be cause for a bad grade.

The only thing I'm confused about is why aesthetics matter? I don't think the bunnies care if everything is brown and cheap, or colourful and pretty. Also the more natural the life you are providing for your rabbits the "uglier" it will look. Yet a life where they can express their natural behaviours (such as digging/tunnels) is part of their 5 welfare needs.

He loves being outside but I don't have the funds to build a suitable outdoor enclosure so i can only let him run around supervised on our decking which makes him so so happy, but i wish he had unlimited safe access to the sunshine and breeze he so loves. Frankly I think he'd be happier if he could carry out his normal bunny behaviours like digging proper tunnel systems and things like those bunnies can do. Sure it looks 'bleak' by human standards but bunnies don't care about how aesthetic or pretty or cosy something looks, they'd rather just have the freedom to chew and dig and binky and sunbathe like these bunnies clearly do.

Just a word about bunnies outside where they can dig: dirt can contain parasites like tapeworms. Even a bunny outside with a harness is in danger from hawks, at least in my neighborhood. My daughter lost her ChiWeenie Dog to a hawk. The harness will keep the hawk from carrying your pet off but the damage inflicted on your pet and the absolute terror of the attack may be deadly. We learned the hard way so many times that “The road to Hell is paved with good intentions” is never more true than when you are trying to give love and happiness to your anipals. I'm the owner with the plastic cover on the sofa and I have to say I'm kind of disappointed. I explained very clearly why I have that on there and that I have a blanket on top and she still roasted me for it. My bunnies will NOT stop peeing on the sofa no matter what I do. If I just put a blanket on the sofa, the pee would soak through and ruin my sofa. Also the whole point of my habitat is I have special needed buns, one has very severe epilepsy and I wrote this in my email and she completely glossed over it. Also hate how every bunny NEEDS to live inside and be free roam, not everyone has that option. My buns are free roam in this room only. I've tried free roaming and they literally find new things to destroy, my carpets, peeing on my bed. I do let them out, my girl likes to have a wander upstairs, but shes supervised the entire time. Also there are some great outdoor habitats out there that are safe and buns are very happy with them. Also the destroyed super dry bag was my bfs, and it was not in their room, it was in the hallway, when I drove my bf to work, my girl stuck her head through the baby gate enough to grab the bag and destroy it. Sure it was our fault for leaving it so close but rabbits cannot be trusted, they will find new things to destroy and you cannot predict what they will destroy next. Not everyone has the option to hide all our belongings away. I'm not going to go round my 3 bed house and tape every skirting board and piece of furniture so they can free roam. Also cable protectors don't work either, I had a cable protector on a very high voltage cable, my girl CHEWED through the cable protector and started chewing through the cable. I stopped her in time before she killed herself but some buns are just so destructive, giving them a space where they cannot reach any of that is the best option and letting them free roam when you're at home is a great alternative. That's what I used to do before I moved, they had a very large pen and I would let them out when I was at home, so they got at least 5-8 hours of free roam, I shut them away when I went to bed because I CANT trust them. The only reason I give them a whole room now is because my girl is very sassy and doesn't like to be locked away, she would bite at the gate every day, shaking it. Even with the baby gate she still shakes it, so I have learned she doesn't like to be enclosed.

I'm assuming your buns are the ones at 14:20? Have you thought about using some kind or waterproof fabric (i.e. outdoor canvas fabric), or maybe even using fleece liners like people use for guinea pigs? Im sorry but the view of only “indoor free roam rabbit” is a little extremist. A predator proof outdoor enclosure is amazing for rabbits being that enrichment and healthcare are still provided. No everyone has rabbits to have a lap pet. Not everyone can house a rabbit indoor. And no the solution isn’t “then don’t own a rabbit”. It’s predator proof, has ample space, the rabbit isn’t alone, it has multiple shelter, freedom to dig(which is a natural rabbit behavior). The only concern I have is lack of enrichment. I’d anyone thinking of doing the same is reading this, please provide more enrichment. Things to chew, different types of grasses and flowers in occasion, different things to climb onto. It can be colorful for the human, but generally speaking a rabbit doesn’t care if it look like a haunted house or a Pinterest sorority board. How stupid would I look as a dog trainer if the only advice I could offer to clients was “you shouldn’t own a dog”.
@busybunnyhomestead

The first one was the best set up. It is the only one that allows the rabbits to express their most natural behaviors aka digging. And allows the rabbits to experience life as a actual rabbit. The owner went above and beyond to secure their enclosure and you 💩 all over that effort and care. Also the rabbits are not scared little girls on Halloween they do not view the world the way humans do and don’t need their environment to be pretty.

I think something you’re not taking in to consideration is the bunny’s happiness. While yes the majority of rabbits are happier living inside that doesn’t include all of them. My bunny lived inside for the first 6 months of her life and she was miserable even though she’d never been outside before. It didn’t matter how much space I gave her, how many toys I bought her, how much time I spent with her, she was completely shut down and just depressed. I took her outside and supervised her while she was out and I noticed a big difference in her personality. She was so much happier and was enjoying life for the first time. After living outside for a little while I tried bringing her back inside. It was like a took her joy away…. Now she’s outside in a big pen where she can dig holes and be a rabbit. She still has to come in when it’s too hot or too cold or if the weather is bad or just to play on my bed. Different bunnies have different personalities and you just have to except that. Yes, I do believe most buns would rather live inside but some are just miserable in. Yes, they may live longer but the question is are they happy. Not are you happy

Outdoor enclosures come with many risks such as, raccoons or birds trying to get to them, or they find a way to get out, maybe plants growing are toxic, and what if the weather is harsh. Now, a opinion is a opinion but keeping your rabbits indoors expands their life span, and their health, you can fight with a opinion but you cant fights facts. Rabbits/bunnies have been bred to the point where they are much safer indoors, this happened overtime. Rabbits are generally happier, healthier, and safer indoors. A rabbit could die at the sight of a dog, what if a wild animal is trying to get to them. Another reason to keep them inside is that while being outside they feel the need to fight for their life, meaning you will have an aggressive bunny. Generally I recommend keeping your rabbits indoors.

I feel like u judges the "cages" more by their looks than what the bunny would feel about it.. Digging is a way that domestic rabbits play, and it's also a way for them to blow off steam when they are bored and frustrated. It's not a behavior that can be trained out of a rabbit. Instead it's important to give pet rabbits ways that they can use this natural behavior without destroying areas of your house. And i can't believe u where acting so positive with the closet cage, but the second u see a cage that is not aesthetic or indoors u give them worse, I'd also like to mention that u never specified WHY the first cage was unsafe..?

you complain about the first participant “looking for validation” when their enclosure is AMAZING and you’re just looking for something to nitpick. they’ve very obviously put much thought into it. an enclosure being bleak doesn’t have anything to do with the care they give their pets. aesthetics are not conducive with proper pet care. the diet looks fine, there are parts of vegetable that we don’t prefer to eat but are perfectly fine for our pets! saying you would be scared to live in there doesn’t mean it’s an improper enclosure. stop personifying rabbits, they’re still animals. while domestic and wild rabbits are completely different sub species, they still have similar instincts. participating in natural behaviors like digging is wonderful for them. you’re doing too much, really.

@LennonTheBunny You stated a rabbit does not need to dig to be happy. But when getting a pet it’s important to consider the nature of that individual species. It would be cruel to get a dog and never allow it to go on walks or go outside to run and play because that’s what dogs do. It would be cruel to get a cat and never allow it to climb or scratch or chase small things that move, because that’s what cats do. So why is it OK to deny a rabbit the opportunity to dig when that’s what rabbits do?

Not to poo poo on the channel etc but I feel like you have so much bias to aesthetically pleasing bunny homes instead of what the rabbits actually, like, those rabbits outside with so much space for running and digging and playing where things can't get in and they cat get out, that is absolutely awesome and the ONLY reason you don't like it is because it's outside (some places are not dangerous for rabbits to live outside like like where in live in new Zealand, no predators except cats which you can easily edit there space to talor towards that issue and we have very mild winters and summers.) and your so rude towards these peoples amazingly hard efforts. Then you think the rabbit in the cupboard is so so cool when really it doesn't have space to run around or jump much at all... I recon you should re consider what your ethics compared to aesthetically pleasing rabbit homes are, and the way that you project human feelings and emotions towards these rabbits homes like they care about colours or views... And how you sound so grossed out and discussed when there is hay or storage for the bunny's within there living area like rabbits don't make a mess with hay... Again not trying to ruin the vibe of your channel but I recon you should try be more polite and look at the set ups with less of a human eye and more of a bunny point of view

I think that is better to have two or more bunnies mainly living outside, doing their thing like they are supposed to, in a safe place obviously, than one lonely rabbit living indoors like a fancy plush toy for humans.

I an a person who has two rabbits, who are completely free roamed indoors, and I’ve raised one of them since a baby I cannot truly agree with the first take you had for the first enclosure that was shown in the video & in the thumbnail it just doesn’t feel right on how you like rated them not every person owns a rabbit for pets and things like that but even if they do, we don’t know their house situation. We don’t know if you know maybe they live in something that is way too small. We don’t know if you know their parents don’t allow them in the household or something we just don’t know the 100% specifics but I feel like them making an underground tunnel so the bunnies do not get hurt & to try to keep them safe as best as possible and the bunnies in the pictures at least don’t look malnourished Or anything it just feels like a little bit of a biased take because I know you frequently sure talk about how you cuddle with Lennon on the couch and things like that or your bed and not everybody likes to do that or the bunnies would even like that circumstance of being cuddled on the couch or something like that every rabbit is different and I’m pretty sure you know that. this isnt supposed to be a attack anything. I would never do that to you. You’ve been one of the biggest rabbit lovers, I’ve watched in which made me want to get bunnies myself but I just feel like that was in my heart but people can give me their other opinions that’s fine I won’t fight nobody on it because it’s an opinion not affect, so yeah, feel free for everyone to give me their opinions. I’m going to be civil, so long as you’re going to be civil. And one other thing I’d like to add is that not every single person wants to make the rabbit rooms look aesthetic or have fairy lights and things like that my rabbits live very good they’re very healthy. They do Binkies constantly, and I’ll spoil them as much as I can, but they don’t really have an aesthetic because by the end of the day, I see more of well fit life and stuff like that, and having happiness, etc. like because not every person does that with their bunny some people love to ultra decorate, which I don’t , I’m very simple as much as I can as long as it can fit into my budget. ( sorry if any grammar mistakes I wrote this in text-to speech)

7:55 A lot of people will use their old hutches as large hideouts for their rabbits - for example, the rabbits and guinea pigs at my college used to all live in these sorts of hutches and when they *finally* got a massive upgrade (they're all in very large pens now), we decided to leave the hutches in their enclosures as extra large hideouts. It's worked out really well for all of them. Although I personally would never go out and buy a hutch purely so that it can be used as a hideout since there's better options out there, it's a great way to recycle a hutch that you've already bought so that it doesn't go to waste

My bunny uses my whole studio apartment. His litter box is actually an a-frame cage with an open door at all times. He is 9 years old and has no interest in toys unless they are the kind he can chew on like the willow balls. I made hiding places and tunnels by making an ally between the furniture and the wall. He has about 9 places to sleep undisturbed. He is very sociable and comes out to see who is here when I have company. He is never locked in the cage but is attached to it so I put his hay in there and he uses it for his bathroom. He likes to lay in there also. I clean it daily so never is dirty or smelly. We are together all the time as I am retired and disabled. I cannot have two bunnies here so that is why he does not have a companion. Quite frankly, I doubt I could care for two. I got him by accident. Your videos have helped me learn about how to care for him over the years. Thank you for that!

I know this is probably not intentional; but you come off very elitist in some of these videos. Most people don't have the space, time and money that YOU do to make their bunnies (and other pets) lives picture perfect. I will commend you for being very informative and rather eloquently explaining WHY something might not be great for a bunny. But please stop being so condescending to these people who have done their best, and are clearly enough proud of their efforts to send them to you so that you can make this video which then makes you money. As long as people keep their pets safe, healthy, happy and clean they shouldn't be judged for not having an optimal of perfect setup. To anyone reading this who might feel self concious about the lives they're providing for your pets: your bunny will not die if it has to live a little cramped because that's the best you can do, your bunny will not die if their space is messy because you don't have the energy to clean it right now, your bunny will not die if you leave it home alone while you work, your bunny will not die if you can't give it enought affection right now because you're struggling with depression. Remember that influencers and youtubers do not live with the same conditions that regular people do. If Lennon pees on Lorelais couch or chews up her baseboards she can afford to just buy new ones to replace them. For me it would set me back at least 2-3 months of my salary. It's just a different lifestyle and a compromise; I keep my bun safe and happy but I don't let him on the couch, it's not that big a deal.

I have a beautiful outside enclosure for some of my rabbits. I clean it each day and put music on while I visit with them. They live better than many people. Lots of nutritious greens, hay and some pellets and treats. The enclosure is heated in winter and has air conditioning in summer. They are all neutered and spayed. I trim their nails and brush them every week or two. They are my sweet bunnies that I wish could live in the home but can't. I see them from my windows in the house as they have 5 large windows as well as sliding door. The place is decorated with beautiful trees and birds. It would be livable for a person it is so nice. All sheetrocked, painted a lonely blue color on walls and ceiling has clouds on white. It has a glow in the dark moon with stars also. Yes, we all can't have our wonderful bunnies inside. She also has a very big big hay bale for her. It’s nicely decorated and has everything she needs. She has nice shade a cover and is very used to outdoors. When we are taking her inside she always wants to go down. My bunny doesn’t like the indoors she loves the outdoors! We had shade and toys. There’s a second floor in her cage a hammock, she also has lights so she is able to see. Ur rating on how aesthetic they are. She is healthy and we even have a fresh veggie garden for her to eat anytime! We are also going to get another bunny so my rabbit feels lots more safe outdoors :) she is 7 months and has spent most of her life outdoors. The only time she was inside was when she was very young! To save you the pain from watching this whole video: Lorelei is too picky and very judgmental. Not everyone has the ability to keep their rabbits indoors, it greatly bothers me that anytime you see an outdoor cage with the proper care and enrichment for the rabbits to lead a happy life, you immediately shoot it down simply because it’s outdoors. Yet any indoor cage is like a godsend from Heaven even if that cage doesn’t meet the minimum requirements for the rabbits. I’ve always wanted rabbits since I was a child, any point in my life if I did get one, they would’ve had to live outdoors due to other pets and people with allergies. That doesn’t mean I’m neglecting them, if I give them all the proper care and attention while they’re living outside, I’d be able to sleep at night because I know my rabbits would be well taken care of and loved without worrying about inconveniencing others in my home. If I sent in my setup, you’d immediately fail it due to it simply being outdoors. Now, I’m not saying there aren’t bad outdoor setups, there’s plenty of those, however, you only harshly criticize the good ones. That’s the problem I have. You rely too much on aesthetics (which mind you, rabbits don’t care about) and location when scoring, rather than using the actual things included by the owner to meet the rabbit’s needs to critique the cage setup. The other problem I have, you asking viewers who send in their outdoor setups, “why can’t you just bring the rabbits inside?” Girl, you don’t know what your viewers are going through, you don’t know their financial situations, their living situations, it’s inappropriate of you to ask people that question when you have no idea. They sent in their cages for you to critique them, not for you to judge the opportunities in life they may or may not have had access to with their pets that you have had with yours. Do better.

This first one isn’t my enclosure, but it just made me soo mad how she was like “why wouldn’t you want to cuddle your bunny inside?!” She is like forcing people to have their bunnies live inside and a lot of the stuff she does for her bunnies is wrong also, so many other tiktokers, KZfaqrs, etc has called her out on her improper care and she is recommending the bad stuff to new subscribers, there is NOTHING wrong with bunnies living outside as long as where they are is safe! “It’s bleak” it’s not all about the aesthetics! Is the rabbit going to be judging the aesthetics? And the rabbits are able to dig and you’re acting as if it’s bad for rabbits to dig, it’s apart of their nature! They’re rabbits, they would want to dig, My rabbits live outside and have a good house and dig all the time! It’s just like how a beta fish wants to be in water, wild fish do too! And I don’t understand WHY the aesthetic is apart of the grade!? As long as the rabbits are safe and healthy it should be rated good because the aesthetics don’t matter, it’s the rabbit.

I’m confused, as so,some who lives in the uk it’s rare people have their bunnies indoor, why are you hating on it so much when they’re predator proof, they’re getting natural lighting and fresh air along with more room to run about than most indoor rooms people are keeping them in.. I used to have 3 rabbits, who all lived outside all year round. They had free roam every single day of the top half our garden with is probably about the size of half a tennis court. They loved it, it wa a natural, they had grass and hay inside their shed which they would go in at night. They loved burrowing holes, running around and sunbathing in the sun. One lived to 7, the other was 8 and the eldest lived to 11. Never had any medical issues and they all passed away peacefully from old age. I don’t know why you’re trying to humanise an ANIMAL instead of providing it with what they’re naturally used to

I completely agree! What's the problem with keeping your bunnies outdoors? They are animals, that's where they cane from. Sorry but I am unsubscribing after this video. Lorelai is so obsessed with things looking pretty and neat/tidy to the human eye over thigs actually being suitable for an animal and their genuine needs - such as bunny companionship, digging, roaming space, natural light and fresh air. The bunny in the closet gets none of this. Rabbits that are outside in a safe space are going to be so much happier and healthier than any indoor rabbit. Additionally, their paws are also not designed for wood, tiled or even carpeted floors, they are supposed to be on grass, dirt and hay. Lorelai is so heavily biased that the advice she is giving is not even worth watching anymore.

And yet you say "it's just a hutch in a hutch why even have a hutch? You just threw the hay in there" OR maybe the rabbit just digged in the hay?? And not everyone used a hay rack and from my understanding you don't either? You just put it in your cat litter box. So I don't see the problem. And the closet you said "omg you even put levels!!" Then say vertical isn't as important as width. That closet is basically the same thing as the hutch!!!!!!! You really missed the mark on this and I thought these people just hated you but I really see why they're commenting now Not mention your coming off pretty rude in this video as well with some of your statements. Like not everyone can gave aesthetically pleasing themes and pretty rabbit stuff and rooms. And maybe they can't keep the floors clean all the time cuz the rabbits kick stuff. I have way more to say but if I do I will take up the whole comment section so I'll leave it as that.

about the first one: having bunnys in a predateur proof zone outside with space for them is way better (in my opinion) then having them inside. and when you said they are not wild so they "dont need tunnels to make them happy" its not to make them happy it makes them feel safe and provides comfort. and wild or not, an animals an animal they still do what they would naturally do in the wild. even if they have never been wild.

Listen, I don’t mind you having your opinions, you educating people, infact I support you advocating for these small creatures. But the first one looks absolutely fine, though I do question why it doesn’t have more mental stimulation, more hides and so on (though idk if they do since the photos didn’t show anything with their full needs). The first hutch looks like it’s based in the UK, like a predator protected one to keep foxes, badgers, birds and other predatory animals out. Whilst keeping the bunnies in and unable to escape. I feel like you determine on aesthetics and whether or not the rabbits are free roaming inside the home, that habitat functional and safe for the rabbits, the diet looks to be freshly stored in the fridge, the “apple” looks more so part of a lettuce, it could just be me. But you saying that a habitat in a CLOSET with 3 stories is better than a wide, protected outdoor home? I don’t get it. The rabbits look safe, happy and their needs seem to be met, you base these homes on aesthetics and if they’re inside or not, and not actually based on needs.

Ok so outside ones are "so bad" why are my 2 outdoor bunnies always making binky hops and having the happiest life ever. Vs every time they've ever been inside they only slept and were showing signs of aggravation. No animals caused it, because mine also play with my dogs!! My oldest one also used to live with a recovery hen and they're all best buds. Happier than they ever were as house rabbits.... wow

The best part, "Treating them like farm animals instead of part of the family." Well, my farm animals are just as much part of the family as any of the more common pets, so lol, that's just a silly statement. The enclosure looked well thought out to protect from predators, like any chicken coop... they had a lot of room too. Lucky buns.

@thecamdenfamilychannel40 I know! Lots of Binky room. Mine are a big part of the family too. We spend lots of time with them since we're outside more. Plus they are really really smart and yes we have bears around, but a bear I don't think will enjoy going over a 5 foot fence with dogs in it, or at night a 5 foot fence when there's piles of garbage from our garbage shed nearby. That's so much easier to eat. And this pen for them is everything but racoon proof, as NOTHING is ever raccoon proof unless solid metal with no holes or double doors that they can't reach their paw past the second inner door.

@@AshleyCamden Exactly, how many people have their bunnies inside? And still leave them outside in the garden? I do this all the time cause you know why? It makes my bun happy, he runs around does binkies and i have bunnies for over 15 years already. Some of you take Lorelai way to serious.

Hi Lorelei, the first cage looks suitable. Its safe and your right, the bunnies dont HAVE to build tunnels but its a smart way to keep cool. I love watching your videos however it really bothers me how you reacted to this cage bc ik that if the tunnels and decore were a bit more stylish and they had fairy lights the cage would be ok. I think that every animal should have proper care but that is the thing for me , in this cage i see proper care, correct me if im wrong please. Im interested/gen, like how is the closet better then the shed??? ,,its messy, mabye you should vacume'' like im sure that they want you rating the set up not how clean it is. the conditions in the shed are ok and yes i think that they could use some toys and tunnels but to judge how clean it is? can someone please informe me?/gen, also yeah the bunny room is cute but is it enriching?

You keep humanizing rabbits. Rabbits are meant to be outdoors, and wear a fur coat. As long as they are safe from predators, have and area to get out of the elements, as well as room to run, jump, and play it is good.

Wow. I used to like this channel way back and I guess I haven't been here in awhile. This was so classist, rude, elitist and extremist. It's not even sound veterinary based advice. It's very "but is it Instagramable?" I hate when the goal of a channel ceases to be education and engagement and becomes senseless holier than thou narcissism. I prefer Bunnies Brigade and others to this nonconstructive content. - The extremism about outdoor rabbits is really a turn off. I don't personally like any of my animals to be outside, but I know lots of great bun owners who have amazing outdoor setups. There is a lot of nuance between sad hutch outside and responsible bunny owner. Many have hybrid setups where the buns get some garden time (that apartment balcony person stated the bunny has free access, not that it had to live out there. You completely misinterpreted that. It's a safe, enclosed apartment balcony, not the streets of New York). In many areas, outdoor animals are more common and their owners love them dearly. I live in a rural area where many pets enjoy the country lifestyle. That person put in so much time, effort, and money to create a beautiful habitat for their bunnies. My local rescue recently had a bun who enjoyed being outside and was accustomed to it. They advertised that it would do best to continue that lifestyle. I wanna say again that my preference is no outdoor animals, but can we not have some nuance without calling people animal abusers? My vet does 4H and has outdoor animals. She's the best in my area. The dismissal/outrage about the extremely nice outdoor bunny enclosure is also a but ignorant and borderline xenophobic as many other countries, areas, people live differently than the standard LA rental home. Again, outdoor rabbits are common in many places both in the U.S. and abroad. I met the happiest outside bunny while volunteering for an animal rescue in Belize. The family loved their bun and did a great job, even if it didn't look like my American apartment lifestyle. - The vocal fry and the "well... you tried." Girl, bye. This isn't constructive. "Your litterbox is overflowing." Are... are you serious? Miss ma'am, I have two chunky bunnies and two litterboxes. I stuff those things full of hay as I am busy working and would always prefer them to have more than less. They will throw it around anyways and eat it. My girl bun loves taking clumps of hay out to go have a picnic with. They can get in and out just fine as they're buns and you learn their quirks pretty quickly (by judge of the clean floor, they can obviously access the litterbox). Sometimes the hay comes out as a big chunk. Why would you put it back in order to have an aesthetically nice looking litterbox? Dang, my paranoid self would rather them have an abundance of hay in case something ever happened to me while I was out. - "You don't trust your buns enough to free roam and if you leave something out, that's on you." I have free roam bunnies and have exclusively free roamed all my exotics and small pets. I'm glad to be able to have the means and environment to do so. Not all homes are a safe, feasible environment for that. I do, however, close my office when I'm not home. Leaving things out doesn't just risk minor property damage, it can be lethal. I know that my office, for example, is too chaotic to be fully bun proof even though I've never had an incident while home. I don't trust myself enough to not forget to unplug something or leave a small object like a paper clip on the floor. Caution/safety first. - Dorms. I rented rooms in college with two pets. There isn't a lot of space. Sometimes a litterbox is under your desk. That's just life at that moment in time. The important thing is that everyone is happy, healthy, and safe. - You being mystified at closets is kinda hilariously out of touch. I've been putting cat boxes in closets for ages as I live in apartments/rent/am a solo human who can't afford a lavish room all for my pet. That's... a very common space saving/hygienic place for litterboxes. - Faerie lights are not safe. A few were definitely in bunny reach. - Your ranking things on clutter and mess. That's like judging people who have toddlers in apartments. Some days my setup is aesthetic, other days the buns have been busy playing. A "messy" space isn't unclean or dangerous. You completely ignored the dangling salt rock which is purely aesthetic but actually quite bad for bunnies (another pet store gimmick toy). - Would be much more interesting to offer creative, cost effective ways to improve. - The vertical closet didn't look even remotely safe like wut????? But I guess it met the aesthetic quota. Could that bun even turn around in there? Also, uh, what about sunlight and ventilation???? - A lot of those tiny hay bags that may be cute don't look sufficient to me. I'd be refilling that all day long. Bunnies running out of hay and risking stasis is way worse than a messy litterbox. - The second outside/hutch thing - the enclosed Aspen shavings bin looks like a DIY dig box. Not sure if you're being intentionally ignorant here or what, but anyways. - Why on earth are you mad at Ball Bunny?! If he likes balls, let him have it. Some pets obsess over the funniest things. I'm confused why they'd need bigger food bowls if you aren't free feeding pellets and veg as you shouldn't be. Looks about right for a cup or so of veg and a couple tbsp of pellets (I can't tell Ball Bunny's weight from the pics).

hi lorelei. absolutely appreciate what you’re trying to do for bunnies and how informative your videos can be. i commend your commitment to debunking harmful myths but a lot of the criticism under this video is equally important and i do hope you approach them with an open mind. the goal of free roaming is, ultimately, for rabbits to have a more enriched life, and it’s important not to become tunnel visioned about what that enrichment looks like. after all, a lot of enrichment is based on allowing animals to express their natural behaviors, even if those behaviors (digging, scattering hay, etc.) are not the most aesthetically pleasing. why are manmade rabbit play tunnels and dig boxes being praised over the natural ones rabbits build themselves? having realistic expectations is an important part of cohabitating with animals. just like it’s necessary to debunk myths about rabbits being dirty, it’s also necessary to be real about the less instagrammable parts of bunny life. i think bird youtubers do a good job of showing the less glamorous parts of birds as pets, so maybe you could turn to them for perspective, especially since many bird and rabbit toys are similar and their play is largely built on destruction and foraging. i also think your content would be more educational if you analyzed the nuances instead of using blanket statements. instead of leaving things at “outside bad”, let’s pick apart why. if one of the reasons is predators, then wouldn’t a predator-proof outdoor housing like the first one in this video actually show thought and merit? if another reason is lack of enrichment, then don’t all the modifications that person built make it a non-issue? and if not- why? precision like that is important if you want your audience to have enough information to make responsible decisions rather than blindly follow online advice. it’s the difference between why they should get information from you rather than a wikihow article. this reminds me of the debate around outdoors vs indoors cats. although most US shelters would recommend indoor only, some shelters in the UK for example recommend some play time outside with specific indoor/outdoor policies (kitten lady has a video on this). i think an interesting idea for a video would be to look at policies from different rabbit rescues around the world. i think it would help both you, as a content creator, and your international audience, as well as push the rabbit owner community to a more flexible place instead of the one-size-fits-all position it’s at right now. it would be good to hear from multiple bunny experts.
