This is my favorite live performance by Queen. Someone messaged me this morning saying he was at this show and that this song was absolute perfection. The only thing wrong with this video is the cameraman does not ever show Brian as he is shredding it as Freddie is answering him back with those great piano runs. The two of them together are so perfect that it is difficult to believe it is live except for the fact that it is Queen and they are just that good. The bass and drums are tucked in so perfectly as to be heard but not interruptive in any way, they are like a perfect seasoning in a masterful recipe. I absolutely love this performance, thank you for your reaction.

Love that you notice the long piano solo. We're technically watching a classical piano recital smack dab in the middle of a rock concert. ONLY Freddie could accomplish that. I love that the band didn't force the other instruments to be more center stage and were enhancements to this lovely piece of music. I, at first, thought the piano was the thread that carried everything through but it really was Freddie's voice. I love how it was even throughout (strong and steady) same energy at beginning middle and end with the tone and inflection creating the melody. It's like he never tired. And this is a live performance recorded in 1975. That's 47 years ago and it sounds like you're at the concert!

And Freddie didn't think he was that good at the piano, actually, he was brilliant at everything he did!

This is one of my favorite all time performances of Queen. Absolutely mesmerizing! I totally agree with you that the entire band are music geniuses - such a great performance by the entire band. Freddie’s vocals and piano performance are brilliant! Please consider reacting to Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 and In the Lap of the Gods, also live at the Rainbow 1974. Thanks for continuing to react to Queen!

Freddie studied the piano as a child. His aunt was visiting and noticed that 7-year-old Farrokh Bulsara (as Freddie was born) playing tunes on the family piano after just hearing them just once on the radio. His aunt insisted that his parents start young Farrokh on piano lessons immediately. His parents did. The following year, at the age of 8 years old, Farrokh was sent nearly 3,000 miles from where he was born (the island of Zanzibar) to an all-boys boarding school (St. Peter) located outside of Bombay (Mumbai), India, St. Peter school was inclined towards a more conservative British culture, heavy on discipline and proper etiquette which explains why Freddie spoke with a British accent, not an Indian English accent. His father worked for the British Foreign Office and had been assigned to work on the African island of Zanzibar but his parents were originally from a town outside of Mumbai called Balsar. Freddie (as he began calling himself at school) had many relatives still living there (grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins). His parents paid extra to St. Peter's school so Freddie could continue his piano lesson. Freddie reached the intermediate level of Piano Level 4 before he quit. He never had any vocal lessons. Freddie played piano with a distinct style. To guitarist Brian May, Freddie played piano like a drummer -very precise, dramatic, and with a metronome-like rhythm. And while he technically didn’t play with the right technique (he played with drooping wrists!), his playing style somehow gave his sound more power.

This is one of my favorite Queen live performances. If you want to see a really cool instrument switch by Queen then react to “Save Me” live in Montreal 1981. Brian starts on the piano and then switches to guitar and Freddie then takes over the piano. It is a slick switch that allowed Freddie a bit more time to do his front man prowess.

Thanks for your reaction. Beautiful performance! Would be made even better had the cameraman captured Brian too during that gorgeous guitar & piano duet that he and Freddie doing.

This song was written by their guitarist Dr. Brian May , he explained that the song is about a girl he was desperately attracted to in his biology class. He thought she was the perfect woman, but he couldn't work up the nerve to ask her out, and further inspiration for the song after reading The White Goddess: A Historical Grammar of Poetic Myth by Robert Graves. This is one of my Favourite Queen live performance ever! Freddie deliver this song live on another level especially the romance of the piano and guitar , supported by the drums and bass is just heaven to my ear💛! Yes I want more 70’s Queen check out ‘Stone Cold Crazy’ live at the Rainbow 1974 and ‘You Take My Breath Away live at Hyde Park🤘🏻 Great reaction as well😊😊
