@Pappy D - you asked a question "What's going on in the PH". In the PH, talent shows are a thing. A very BIG cultural thing. It's present in the big cities - but its a staple in the provinces. When you're young, the moment you are able to humm a tune, you'll be asked to perform in front of your family - during birthdays, Christmas - that's how you get your Christmas allowances. :D A good bonding activity, a very common one - is eating, and karaoke. Usually at the same time. You eat, while someone else sings. Everyone gets a turn. And its ok if you don't do it ok - and you get applauded if you do well, almost taboo to turn it down. In short - its a culture that loves music, not just ANY music, but music that can make you feel.
