This is from Immortal Songs 2, it's a contest for well known singers/celebrities, not amateurs like a regular talent show. SoHyang is very well loved in South Korea. The theme of this one was English pop songs and she won it with this performance.

Even when singing in Korean, So Hyang is BRILLIANT at conveying the message and meaning of the song. Therefore, it is not necessary to understand the language. Music is truly the universal language.

We've seen people break down and cry after seeing So Hyang in this performance, just sit there and stare at us, get up and walk away ... you name it. She is like a force of nature and we're all just glad she is alive to sing for us in this life time of ours. :)

So Hyang's mix and headvoice is the most well developed that I've ever heard, actually Whitney Houston was her counterpart but a generation apart. She doesn't do whistles but her falsetto reaches 6th octave which blows my mind and yet because it's on the edge of turning into a whistle, this gives her the control over those notes that even the best whistle queens can't do in a 100% whistle tone. Not to say whistle is bad or good, it's something she chose to master that people with easily accessible whistle register tend to skip over or just spend less time nurturing. It's kinda confusing because those silky smooth notes replace the whistle but the transition back to her headvoice is seamless, in whistle tones the vocalists have to reset which is noticable. My preference is the 5th octave in chest, mix, head those are the notes that can trigger emotions in people. The whistles are a cherry on top if done correctly. Sadly even Mariah has more failed whistles than the unforgettable ones, those just tend to be brushed under the carpet.

The song "everyone" she performed is in my opinion just as skillful but much deeper lyrically. If you react to it make sure you get the one with both the Korean and English subs otherwise it's just weird watching people react to things they don't understand. It's worth a listen.
