I wouldn't underestimate Iran. Even though they didn't pass the group stage at WC18, they looked quite impressive. They defeated Morroco, played 1-1 with Portugal and lost 0-1 to Spain. They are also being coached by a Croatian :)

Group E will be very tricky imho. Spain and Germany plus Japan, maybe the biggest team in Asia. I guess all of these four teams (never underestimate Japan) will have their chances to get among the first two if Spain or Germany will be failing again.

Know what's funny...as an American who watches Football on a weekly basis with the premier league taking up the majority of my watch time, Im supporting England to win the World Cup only because a good aMount of players from the team I support are English with some being regulars at international level. I'd love to see them come up with huge success in this WC.....But since England have drawn against the USA...you lot are in a TONE of pressure to get a result against us😂 England is supposed to be the team to beat in this fixture...so the pressure is on you lot while we're chillin. Won't be surprised if we lose but believe me when I say this, if USA manage a win over England (which is very much a possibility) the entirety of the USA will be on you lot's head for a while. Of course England is the heavy favourite in this group, no question. ... but so were Italy and ... England in the 2014 world cup 😀 when Costa Rica toped the group, along with Uruguay. All the teams in the WC became more and more competative over the decades. These days i would not celebrate getting any team drawn to any group ; - ) If you like to know more about the Iranian team and how they have performed in world cups so far, watch the games of the previous WC in 2014 and 2018. only a 94th minute Messi magic shot saw them beat Iran 1:0 ... Spain won 1:0 after a pinball goal ... Portugal nearly were thrown out in group stage after a 1:1 draw.
