Reacting to the "The BME Life" | Is Biomedical Engineering A Bad Major?

Different video for you guys! This is a reaction to a video made by "The BME Life" which can be found here: • REACTION TO: ''The Sto... . A while back, I made a video about why I quit biomedical engineering. In that video, I mentioned my personal story and why I quit. This video should clarify statements made in that video and respond to some of the arguments by the BME life.
Please do all your close research when picking a major and don't start too late! The earlier you learn, the quicker you can make an informed decision.

This video was really helpful. Though I’m not planning on majoring in computer engineering, it really got me thinking about my reasons for wanting to major in biomedical engineering. I’m the same way in that unless my heart’s in it completely, I’ll probably end up changing how I feel about something in the future. Thanks!

This was a good response video. BME is not bad, it just does not live up to the hype and is definitely less practical for classic engineering jobs. RIP me, I am about to finish my BME Bachelor and would prefer the applicability of a computer science/engineering degree. But when I started I though I dont want hardcore engineering, now I prefer it.

Strong agree with your responses. BME is a weak undergraduate major for postgraduate employability relative to other engineering majors. BME Life now works in Regulatory, which is arguably not truly “engineering”, and certainly not what I aspired to do after studying an engineering major. The pigeonholing is not even worthwhile because BME are not better candidates for roles at medical device companies…

There are some medical device companies that I interned at that do hire primarily BMEs for product design and manufacturing engineering roles! However, I agree that unless you want to be working only in medical devices/research, its better to take other more general engineering degrees with many more career path options!!

I have a 3.28 GPA and a B.Tech in Mechatronics Engineering. My domain of intrest is Prosthetics, Bionics and Biomechanics. I'm not sure which master's programme to choose between robotics and biomedical engineering. I'm also worried about whether my grades are good enough to get me into a good university. And yeah I'm also not that inclined in memorizing too much stuff.
