Voiceplay is absolutely unique. They pay homage to the originals but will never, never be cookie cutter. They will also never do it the way you think they should, or the way you expect them to. Great reaction. These were all done before J None went into the Navy. Any with Earl is before J None went into the navy because Earl left before J did. They did Friends On The Other Side a couple years ago right after Cesar joined. It's awesome.

You realize that when J None came back on leave from the US Navy, he took the lead in Friends on the Other Side and VP did a full Friends on the Other Side. So dang good. Love your scared cat video clip.

I think (at 9:20 you're talking about that) he was trying to get away from the mic cuz th emic was probably gain increased for bass. But if he would have been louder for a high belt he'd have peaked it out.

Just FYI - the guy you keep calling Navy Boy is not the one who left for the Navy. J None is the one in the Navy. He does keep coming back on leave and singing with them. Earl left a bit earlier than J, but has not returned to sing. We do not know the reason for Earl's departure, but it was amicable. He did have a bit of a health scare while on tour with them and so some suspect that might have something to do with it. I haven't checked to see if you have done it already, but if not, you really need to react to "Queen in 5 Minutes" Everyone was great in it, but Earl's voice is amazing in that video. I second the idea of checking out "Friends on the Other Side"- It is spectacular! Not only does J kill it as Dr. Faciller, but Geoff & Layne really slay the rhythm section in the second part of the song. And you also ought to check out their full video of "Cruella de Vil". You will need a google search to find it as it is not on their channel. It also might be difficult to upload as it is on Disney's youTube channel. But it is worth checking out, even if just for yourself. Now, I do hope you will go on to do the 'Sidekicks' Top Ten. These ACA10 videos are actually all done Live in one take. They are great fun, but also really show what their voices are like when they are not recorded ahead.

I’m assuming that you batch record, but thought I’d mention this just in case. I think you were referring to Earl throughout the video whenever you mentioned “navy boy”, but he’s not the right one. Earl left the group towards the very beginning of the pandemic for undisclosed reason(s). J None is the one who left to sing with the Navy. (For reference Earl is the one standing in the middle)

I always felt Geoff turns his head in oogie boogie to hit that high note so he doesn't blow out the mic. His mic is callibrated for bass and so his bass can be heard easily in the mix, so to belt some tenor up in there might not sound great or be too overbearing. Of course, that's just what I always personally thought, so I could be wrong.

Heads up, I'm not sure if you saw this but they just did a full length version of Hellfire for spooky season. It's pretty frightening but in the best way possible :) love your reactions btw

The voice actor for Judge Frollo.....Tony Jay.....did a phenominal job with the song "Hellfire"..."Navy Boy", as you say is NOT EARL, with beard......it IS J.None.....who is in the middle of a 5 year hitch with the Navy......by the way, they DID a cover of the Dr. Facilier song 'i got friends on the other side.......>^^

Earl didn't join the Navy (I don't think, he didn't bother saying anything to his fans before he left). J None joined the Navy.

Navy Boy is actually J none on the upper right....earl is in the middle and he left the group for personal reasons. A lot of their ACA shorts become full versions...one of my favorites is an Aladdin medley they do but it's just audio, no video.

It matter what age your friends are. Friendship is about so much more than age. I mean. I'm 79 now and would be proud to call you my friend. You have a lovely voice, it may deepen with age, but as Geoff says, it's nice to have those tricks in your toolbox but a good tone is more important. He admits to a wide range but never attempt to enter what he cals "Earl's world". Earl is the high tenor here that you were mistakenly referring to as navy boy. Sure, he was wearing navy blue but that's as far it goes. :) It's J.None who left to sing with the navy.

J, the guy in the back on the right side behind Layne went in the Navy, not Earl. We miss both though. Still hoping J will come back after his stint in the Navy.

You keep talking about how much their production value has increased since this time period, and that is absolutely true. They seem to just keep getting better every month. But it is worth pointing out that the ACA Top Ten series is specifically meant to be sort of stripped down videos, done in one take, and I think recorded live. If you look at other videos from around the same time, the production value is much higher.
