David, one thing that draws me, and i believe others as well to Home Free is their sense of being more than just singers, but fully ENTERTAINERS. They give you more than just music, and when they combine them, it's pure magic.

No one can mash songs together any better than Home Free! Chris is responsible for the chickens that often show up in their videos -- Easter eggs? Even "Hillbilly Bone" has Chance wrestling with one. I'll let someone else elucidate in detail. As always, I love your (lengthy) explanations of what is going on in the arrangements. Your reaction to this one was everything I was hoping for!

The ending is typical of Austin's work. He has a number of originals and covers where the voice doesn't go on as you expect, often there is just silence. It's refreshing to meet s musician who understands the value of silence.

Tim's grey appeared in videos during Covid when he couldn't get to a barber to cut & color his hair. I'm assuming he had it for awhile as he makes a comment about it in one of the Home Free history videos on Chris Rupp's channel. Tim said that he didn't want to continue coloring his hair after Covid and that the band's manger is after him to get it colored. Austin then comments that he likes the grey streak.

My understanding is that mgmt hadn't wanted Tim to either cut or let his hair grey for some time. They weren't thrilled when he did cut it but obviously it turned out to be (mostly) a non-issue for the fans.

I love their medleys (there's also the "Hunter Hayes Medley"& "Alabama Sampler"). As always, the singing, harmonies & beatboxing are terrific but there's so much going on it's hard to focus on the music! Tin said in an interview that he stopped colouring his hair during Covid and just let it go grey. I think you'd like their series "From the Vault" - the BTS filming of their videos. Thanks for playing this & your insights.

PS - The chicken lives on. In their 'quarantine' series, it's on a bookcase next to Austin in his home (perhaps it takes a pack-rat to recognize another one).

The chickens were gifted to Chris by a Fry and they included it hidden in several videos. This one is so obvious. Austin has one of them on his bookcase that you can see in the Quarantine video.

It has become a game to try and spot the chicken in the older videos. One appears in the Butts Medley and they stomp on one in Boondicks/Fishin in the Dark mashup. I can't remember the others.

Great reaction & analysis! This is such a fun mashup of songs. Very cleverly done from one song to another. I didn't know most of these songs. But I don't care as it is just so much fun to watch. The talent these guys have is phenomenal. They have so much fun but the vocals never suffer. And Adam's beatboxing is on another level.

The song you heard towards the end was very popular in the US by Philip Phillips. He won on American Idol and the song was on the radio for a long time and included on his first album. I’ve lost track of him now, but he became popular all over the world. The song is simply called “Home”. It was written by the American Idol team. Your analysis is always appreciated, as there are so many things going on in a mash up. Thanks for bringing it forward!!

Great isn't it?! Always a favorite of mine. Austin actually arranged this mashup. He is good at it isn't he? There are 17 songs from 15 artists. Home Free guys are so much fun. Been to 7 live shows and it's like a great stand-up comedy show with incredible talented singing. You always leave happy and waiting for the next show! Hoping for one this year here around Portland, OR! Missed them last year. Take care. Thanks again.

I saw the length of this video and almost didn’t watch it, but I knew it would be worth it, and I was not disappointed! This is an under-rated video and wish it had gotten more attention and appreciation after its initial release. I’ve only seen a few reactors’ videos showcasing this one. It is very impressive how they can perform two songs at once. I know it’s not really easy. I can’t even think of an artist’s tune while another song playing. The transitions were excellent. Thank you for your in depth review and analysis, and love that you thoroughly enjoyed it! It actually has me wanting to watch in on their channel and pause to see the things you spoke of during your review and reaction.

The chickens were such a fun little extra thing thrown in. I loved searching for the chicken in each new video. Believe it or not there is even one in Do You Hear What I Hear. Now you're probably gonna have to go back and find them all. At least in the videos you have reacted to so far.... And by the way the chicken was often refered to as the "stealth chicken"

For a video which could have been very static and boring, you can watch it 10 times and enjoy little different bits of humour from the guys each time. This was filmed at the same location as the Butts Medley and their mash-up of Thinking Out Loud/Let's Get It On - they hired the warehouse for a couple of days. (You might like to add TOL/LGIO to your list - it's another impressive one, and stars Reilly and McKenzie as the couple in the video.)

I hate to disagree with you. Chris Rupp according to the group is a baritone. After Chris went out on his own and on his site . Chris and Tim do " Long black train" Take a listen if you haven't. If You have never seen the group do " How great thou art " All vocal and Adam has a short solo with a honey sweet tenor voice.
@jadaskye
@jadaskye 6 ай бұрын
I guess it is a matter of opinion and everyone has a different ear. To my ear, Chris is a natural tenor who in the group sang the baritone part. Similarly Tim is a natural bass who at times sings the tenor part.
@lrfcowper
@lrfcowper 6 ай бұрын
Chris said in an interview that he's naturally a tenor 2, but sang baritone in Home Free because he had enough range to get down pretty low. You have to distinguish between voice type and part. Many years ago, I sang tenor in an Easter cantata even though my voice type was soprano. They had a surfeit of sopranos, but desperately needed tenors, and the director knew I had the range for it. You do what serves the music, and sometimes that means singing lower or higher in your range than where your voice type naturally sits.
