Gather every male artist in 2023 and none of them come close to Bryan Ferry he was class and style a type you wont see ever again so glad i lived the 80s todays music doesnt take you on a trip to that special place entwined in your memory.

I was able to see Roxy Music perform at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles back in 2001. The real treat was having Yanick Etienne be there to perform her lovely backing vocals on "Avalon".

This song perfectly captures the ethereal beauty of the mystical lake and world of the fae of Arthurian legend IMO.

There’s a story behind the female vocalist on this song. Apparently they heard her sing randomly at the recording studio while she was there on another project and they “drafted her” into singing on the studio recording. Someone correct me if I got any of the details wrong.

This song eases anxiety. Whenever im overly stressed and fighting negative thoughts this really eases me and sends me to a better place in my heart. Works like magic. I feel he was channeling some higher energy when making this song because u cannot help but feel an unknown but strangely familiar peace. And eitherway avalon is supposed to sort of be a paradise world of venusians so i guess its the higher beings at work in this music. Eitherways i appreciate it!

The model in the video is Sophie Ward who was only 17 at the time the video was filmed in 1982. She's still working as an actress today.

My all time favourite. I've been to see Bryan and Roxy Music live several times and even met Bryan on my last outing as a VIP guest front row. He's super cool and his voice is still good today..Bryan's new Love Letters LP is well worth checking out.

Roxy Music was an interesting and much underrated band. It started off in 1972 as something quite different to what it ended up as in 1982 the year of Avalon the final album. Originally they wore very bizarre costume outfits with psychadelic rock look but the sound was unique. Bryan performed in a kind of avante garde performance art style in the early years but by the mid-70's that gave way to the swarve suits and a more polished confident sophisticated look. Interestingly Roxy Music were hugely popular from day one in US in 1972 but the band didn't have any number one hits except their fabulous cover version of John Lennon's Jealous Guy which they did in live in Germany as a tribute not long Lennon's death and then it was released the following year as a single and went to number 1 in several countries. Although Bryan Ferry went solo after Roxy Music split up in 1982 and is more known for his popular solo songs like Slave To Love and many classic cover songs including Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow, his solo career actually ran almost as long as Roxy Music with his first solo album coming out in 1973 and his solo career running parallel to Roxy Music. By 1982 and Avalon the musical differences and stresses between Bryan and the other band members were becoming apparent as you can see in the video here and More Than This.

Hi, as cliché as it might sound, years ago I met someone in a club, though it wasn't at the end of the night it seemed like that, since it was a long holiday and most people here use to leave the city on those occasions and the club was almost empty.
