The game is like that too. "You want the drop? Stomp a head!" The music is actually dynamic with what the player is doing. I always say, if the music isn't banging. you are playing it wrong! Mick Gordon said in a GDC panel that the publishers of the game said "NO GUITARS!" and he had to sneak them in. that's kind of why it has such a heavy Electronic influence in this song. This song is amazing, but others are a bit more "metal"

More of.he convinced them to actually.allow guitars. One of the other goals was that it had to be instantly recognizable by DOOM fans. His whole presentation was about changing processes to change the outcomes and well, sometimes that means changing the rules. Metal guitar work has always been a staple of DOOM since the original.

@@thewindmillfullovcorpses exactly! Doom is about melting down demons with shotgun, rifle bfg and chainsaw. Since you can play on demons guts some music why not use chainsaw to make music for a game, right? Highly recommended to play doom. Doom 1 and 2 are old but still gold and doom 2016 and eternal are like poetry for metal heads. Good luck and have fun in MAYBE checking is some day!

@@thewindmillfullovcorpses When you do "The Only Thing They Fear Is You" (and you're doing yourselves a disservice if you don't, it's the BFG Division of Doom Eternal) you have to be aware there are multiple versions. The first release (aroynd 5 minutes long) was something of a hackjob put together by Bethesda from the ingame files. Then Mick Gordon put out his release of the track, clocking in at nearly 7 minutes. Controversially though, as someone who truly loves this song and soundtrack, the absolute *best* version is a mix uploaded by the_kovic here on KZfaq, which crosses the best aspects of the original and the Mick track and forms what I'd argue is the definitive version of the song. If you insist on purist ideals of only listening to official artist versions, listen to the Mick track. If you want the best first impression/experience, listen to the_kovic's mix. Either way, I eagerly await watching y'all's heads explode listening to it. \m/

It's a Regius 9 string guitar. He actually played a medley of Doom soundtrack songs at a live event with Matt Halpern of Periphery on the drums. I think I remember Mick saying that he sold that guitar soon after that event. Mick actually did a big Q&A on his method of creating this soundtrack. It shows not only his musical creativity, but his technical prowess. Worth a watch if you're a guitar/music geek.

Quick note about the DOOM soundtrack: The reason why the mix by Mick Gordon is different from what you hear in the game is it's originally based on stems. Little bits of music that are shuffled in multiple lists (like a more quiet list, a combat list, an ultra violence list and so on) and automatically strung together by the game. That way the soundtrack dynamically reacts to what's actually happening in the game. But if you're not actually playing it, the order the stems would be appearing in doesn't make much sense, so if you just want to listen to the soundtrack there's the KZfaq mix where Mick Gordon took some of the stems, put them in an order that makes sense and mastered it into one continuous piece. You will recognize it when you hear it during gameplay, but it won't be entirely the same. The actual soundtrack is perfect for the game while the mix on Mick Gordon's channel is optimized for listening to without playing the game at the same time

I absolutely love the Doom soundtracks getting so much love! Its one of the only game I'll specifically wear my studio headphones while playing just so I can BLAST it without my neighbors having to hear the normal game sounds!

@@thewindmillfullovcorpses he's a composer I believe he just knew them personally. After he made the soundtrack the guitarist wanted the guitar because it was the DOOM guitar. Bloodswamps is by another composer Andrew Hulshult who also goes hard in the paint.

So I know you guys have been discovering a lot of influential deathcore lately. I don’t know how you feel about fundamental deathcore, but I would challenge you to check out DISTANT. They’re not the most technical, as they’re a downtempo/slam kind of band. More texture than melody. But where they stand out the most is how massive their sound is. They occupy so much space sonically, you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders. They also have a very sinister atmosphere to their music. I would recommend Aeons of Oblivion, Oedipism, or The Tyrannt’s Covenant! Love your channel and energy, guys. 🤘🏼

@@thewindmillfullovcorpses i have to honestly say i was never interested in metal genre. I always thought there was too much screaming, indistinguishable growling. But DooM - even if nothing in its soundtrack is pure metal - made me reconsider my approach to it. Imagine how surprised i was finding out how much sub genres of metal exist. Its a whole world in itself. I have to give Mick Gordon credit he did a damn good job. In composing DooM's OST and in changing my mind.

There are many parts where, if you put it through a phonograph, you'll see images of 666 and Penagrams hidden in the music itself. There's also a part with some shrilling screaming sound which hides a recording of "Jesus Loves You" in reverse. Guess which hidden easter egg the Christian Conspiracy people found?

Ah man you should listen to "The only thing they fear is you" by Mick Gordon for new Doom Eternal! Just be aware there are 2 versions, the one with the less views is his real one, other one is a rip from the game that wasn't completely mixed by him.

Spoke to doctor and they asked what I did to get my heart rate up; I said, 30mins of Doom (or D Eternal) and I'm done! Either are hands down the best games I've ever even dreamed of playing and the music is more than the icing on the cake, it's what brings me back time and time again. I walked into a board game shop once, with the soundtrack playing and within 10 seconds could remember which part of Mars/Hell I was in!

You have to remember, the Imperium as it stands now is following a false doctrine worshipping the Emperor as a deity rather than a strong leader and moral ideal, which he EXPLICITLY did not want.

This and the Halo/Halo2 themes are probably my favorite game songs. And maybe the Skyrim theme or some Zelda or megaman x. Doom is the most metal of them all by 100 miles tho Only thing that comes close is Zynthetic's work on Killing Floor 2

There is a little problem with versions of this tracks. Mick made some pieces, that playn in game, depending on what da hell is happening on the screen. So he took some from every map and make full "original soundtrack" album for doom 2016. But he didn't finish full album for Doom Eternal. At least he make a few perfect tracks for Doom Eternal with his original stuff, and other guys making not bad tracks with gamerip sounds. Fun Fact:I write my lyrics to this DOOM ETERNAL soundtrack! I have 66 different types of material wrote up enough to create 4 albums worth like a 20 track, 30 tack, 6 tack and another 10 track! plus you guys will be amazed with the ancient gods soundtrack from the newer game that's out if I'm not mistaking!

I write lyrics based on my experiences, knowledge, abuse I'm currently making aware, toxic people I faced and putting together a message that has a story line like a documentary or something that leads to a final message! I'm writing lyrics because I have to keep things on the down low due to abuse reasons like the abusers are messed up AF once I get out at any given chance I will take action and gain what I lost so I can get these songs recorded maybe some collaborations! I do have an Instagram, Twitter and Facebook if you wanna see what I can do especially with art that goes with the message I write as well as the whole ambience of this DOOM music!

The message I produce is raw,real,karmic,truthful like everything real on top of the things I write based on shit in life and experience with what I have!
