@thesliceoflifepodcast hey... with all due respect , when you are introducing yourself to cinema from a country like India where every state has a plethora of cultural context associated to it - separate languages, food, habits - you need to pay more attention to whats on screen in order to really understand the subtexts or even to appreciate the film. Talking over a lot - over scenes - stops you from doing that. Kahanii as a film stand out because of the leit motif of Calcutta - its people, its ways, its buildings, its festivals - the state is a female goddess worshipping state ( majority religion in question) - to understand the nuance of portraying a female protagonist over that cultural backdrop required you to really absorb the vibe that the set pieces, set design, colours and sounds of the film. This is not generic Bollywood. Hopefully you pay more silent attention in future - we enjoy your observations but , pause the film for making them. You lose out ON A LOT of things because you dont.

That character BOB became so famous that later on entire movie was made on BOB BISWAS but unfortunately character was played by other actor (Abhishek bachan) he acted good but real Bob biswas was on another level.❤

Vidya Balan in Kahaani was stated as one of the finest performance of the last decade. She almost swept all the accolades that year and paved new horizons for the women centric films. She even won national award for her role in 'the dirty picture' that was like a peak cinema acting.

10:46 when police officers that are working on someone's case remove their cap in front of that particular someone, it means to show respect for the dead - and a way of telling the person that the person we were looking for is dead(in this case they believe he is dead). So the scene basically means he is letting her know without words that her husband is dead and she understands that they have a deadbody.

Apart from 2 amazing actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Vidya Balan the other Bengali actors r also veterans artists from Bengali Cinema industry. Specially Sashwata Chatterjee ( Bob Biswas), Kharaj Mukherjee ( The senior inspector) Parambrara Chatterjee ( Rana), Shantilal Mukherjee ( Sridhar) r very well known & amazing actors. Last bt not the least Dhritiman Chatterjee (Bhaskaran) , the old veteran actor is the talent, found by non other than Satyajit Ray with whom he worked in 3 movies.

This movie was set in my hometown, Kolkata. The guest house she stayed at is a real place and really close to my grandma's house. I love this movie so much. ❤

They are the worst reactors on youtube. They are super ignorant. Im not sure how the people are even reccomending them these kind of movies. they didnt understand a simple movie like zindagi na milegi dobara😂 They talk so much and then be like whats happening😂.
