Kasey actually started writing this song a couple of years before recording it. At the time, she didn't feel strong enough personally or vocally to own it; but eventually through personal growth and after having surgery to remove two nodules from her vocal cords, she found the strength to tackle the song.

Thanks for taking the request for this one. I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as I hoped you would. Kasey has a unique way of conveying a lot of emotion in her voice which makes you feel what she is singing about.

This song answers the questions from Not Pretty Enough, her 2001 hit; this is another of Kasey's approach to mixing genres, it has a bit of blues and jazz subtlety covering the country undertow. Of all of Kasey's songs, this is the one she says 'wrote her'; and as she said " it's the glue that holds her life together".

What a wonderful reaction. She leaves it all out there - every time. Just unique. Live is always the way to see her. 'The Captain' - live at Paste Studio 'Not pretty Enough' live at the 2001 ARIA awards with Keith Urban. These are a couple both worth seeing - 16 years apart but still wonderful.

I would do Nullaror song is more personal to her early life.

is there a word for the emotion that is "I am so over your crap and frankly I've got better things to do"? cos yeah, that's what she's emoting here. Not angry, not bitter, just done.

Definitely my favorite version. While the official music clip is beautiful, this stripped down version is raw and gritty. Such an empowering song should be an anthem for women everywhere.... Kasey's passion is unleashed in this live performance, and of course a big shout out to the guitarist and drummer who equal that passion. G'day from Australia.

Very emotional song, you mentioned the two young men being very engaged in this performance that's because Kasey is their mother I guess that means this song might be about their father. Kasey is a genuine artist something you can't fake.

Kasey wrote this after the end of her 8 year marriage. It seems to be the new 7 year itch. It was after 8 years that Lindsay Buckingham left Stevie Nicks.

I wouldn't call Kasey a blue grass artist. She is more an alternative country person and with Kasey that means alter whatever she likes.

I'm sorry, I had to leave at about 3 minutes in, because Kasey's voice has always reminded me of a broken piece of chalk on a wet blackboard!

Some men just hate anything feminine....listen a bit longer and watch the performance develop into a touch of jazz with bluesy rock. A complete performance of a complete song.

After that amazing Eminem cover I checked out some of her other songs but "country" isn't a genre that I usually like all that much. Think I might of been watching earlier stuff though and maybe her style has changed a bit lately? I definitely missed this song. I liked it a lot. Reminded me of Joplin! Have to go and do some more delving now!
