Actually, the original version is Nylon Beat's "Rakastuin Mä Looseriin". They have an English version "Like A Fool". Nylon Beat is a Finnish girl group.

BTW, hope you're better now... had my booster shot yesterday as well and felt like a model patient for side effects: pain at the injection site, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, and joint pain. But 36 hours later - and it's OK again

yes, some of the reactor are just ignore the info about this remake (they just focus on this MV and judge the 'robot things that ruined' and won't look the original vers or even don't know that this is remake for SM's project, they taught it's comeback:") and also judge the 'robot things')

SES members were all around 17-18 years old at this point. Main vocalist Bada (means “sea” in Korean) - the one with the high note leading into the rap is considered the “original SM vocal”. She did a cover of Aespa’s Next Level, which was pretty badass, and she actually worked with aespa on the remake. Also the producer (but not composer-it was a pre written song SM got the rights to) on the SES version is Yoo Youngjin, who is still there, still helping produce hits for groups like NCT, Aespa, and Red Velvet.

Glad you enjoyed the original version, I love how ethereal it sounds. Aespa did a great job at remaking the song. As for your question at the end, the term 'K-pop' (derivative of 'J-pop' to describe Japanese pop music) was coined by Western journalists in the late 90's to describe what Koreans at that time just called 'gayo', which means 'pop music' in Korean. The term 'K-pop' would catch on in Japan and then Korea in the early 00's.

Yes, we already used the terms K-pop, J-pop, HK-pop for tagging the different "World Music" genres on those p2p-clients (Bearshare, Limewire, DC++) while sharing mp3s and avis back in 1999-2000. The term K-pop became mainstream much later, perhaps mid 2000s/2nd gen?

@@K-pop_in_the_Garden Yeah, it made sorting genres a lot easier on p2p programs. Probably where I saw the term 'K-pop' for the first time. I think the 2002 World Cup held in both Japan and South Korea helped make the term more notable worldwide as well.

Aespa's Dreams Come True 2021 version is a bop, S.E.S. 1998 version is a bop but the ORIGINAL song is a song called Rakastuin Mä Luuseriin by a finnish duo Nylon Beat from 1996. I grew up listening to Nylon Beat's music in Finland and they are iconic here and this song was one of their biggest hits. They made an english version of it called Like A Fool and SM bought the rights and thus the S.E.S. version was born. The Nylon Beat and the S.E.S. versions are pretty much the same song, Aespa made it different.

I recently learned a lot about this song. S.E.S. version is actually a cover of a song by a Finnish duo called NYLON BEAT and the song was in Finnish called 'Rakastuin mä looseriin' released in 1996. They later made an English version called 'Like a Fool' released in 1998. SES reunited briefly in 2016, looking nothing like the middle-aged mothers they were. Ageless beauty. There was also a live performance in 2015 on TVPP where SNSD Seohyun stood in for Eugene (at the time, in her final months of pregnancy)...the resemblance was striking. Reacting to lives of course carries additional risks in this era of YT, but you might want to look them up anyway.

Well while depending on the context you could say that k pop started either in the late 80s/early 90s or 1996 , the modern idol system that started kpop as we know it started in SM in 1996 when they debuted H.O.T as their first ever boy group and S.E.S as their first ever girl group in 1997 (tho baby vox was technically Korean first idol gg debuting in July 1997 while S.E.S was November 1997). And personally I hear the overactive 5 songs in 1 in 1st gen groups like h.o.t sechskies nrg click b etc. Tbh. S.E.S personally have amazing vocals and songs that are forever timeless. They disbanded in 2002 and occasionally did solo work until their 20th reunion in 2017! Bada and Eugene are still in the spotlight as of this year! I'd recommend their debut I'm your girl, Shy Boy , Twilight Zone,Love,and (their last group title track) Soul 2 Soul !

OK, I'll give it my best and spin the wheel! ^^ We don't know anything specific about KOSMO yet, only that it is "beyond Kwangya" and presumably the SMCU: Endgame. In the SMCU the Origin, Giselle talks about the birth of the new universe, so we know that SHINee ("the Five Lights"), Girls Generation ("Goddesses of Sound"), Super Junior (unbound space travelers), EXO (extraterrestrial beings with "Supernatural powers"), and of course our time-traveling and dimension-bending witches Red Velvet ("transcendental beings that are in communion with the gods" - the representation of chaos in the SMCU probably) are all part of that SMCU birth. "Since long ago, through dreams and sub-consciousness, we have been sending messages about our solidarity [into KOSMO(=space built on data and destiny)]". That's right in the beginning here, at 1:10 (those pollen dreams). A UFO (shaped like a seedpod) is the answer [sent back from KOSMO]. Now compare 1:38 here with 1:15 on aespa 에스파 'ep1. Black Mamba' - SM Culture Universe: the birth of (f)ae, and the awakening of an evil presence with snake eyes/Black Mamba at the same time. In 1:52 here the girls are meeting their f'ae'rie counterparts. In 2:02 they (the real S.E.S members, not their (f)ae-counterparts) are dancing in digital (f)ae-land on a circling platform, same as aespa in Kwangya in "Next Level". In 5:10 the UFO/alien brings salvation to earth. Unanswered questions: are EXO little aliens sent by KOSMOs to help humanity overcome Black Mamba's influence? The beginning and end of "Don't fight the feeling" suggests so! ^^ And how will NCT fit into this? Dreams Come True is a remake of "Like A Fool" by Nylon Beat, a Finnish female duo, and was also embroiled in a plagiarism dispute because the remake was not known at the time of the release of the album. In 1997, Lee Soo-man met a composer who was staying in Poland and bought copyrights, but the length of the song was long and boring, and the climax of the song was weak. So, in the process of buying a song, Yoo Young-jin added a new melody and scatrap to the original song with permission to add the Korean composer's name if this song is supplemented according to the atmosphere of S.E.S. (May be strange sentence because he was using a translator.)

hi i love aespa sm and I'm so thankful for your reaction also i noticed that you like relax music and good vibing so I recommend you listen and react to ASTRO, a korean boygroup they have so many songs that I surely you would love, for example 'Always You', 'All Night', 'After Midnight' and others. would love for you to check out more ses or other 1st gen like fin.k.l and soloist boa is also a 1st gen sm solo artist whos still making music now (immaculate discography since debut i mut say) and was the one that had alot ot do with aespas dreams come true
