Skyhooks they were fantastic, very ahead of their time in some ways, and not scared to push the boundaries. 6 of the 10 sons on the Living in the 70's album were band on the radio. For sex, drugs, or bad language. The made it more popular. The songs were pretty tame by today's standards. The band songs were: Toorak Cowboy", about the gay sceen in Melbourne. "Whatever Happened to the Revolution?", drug and sex references. "You Just Like Me Cos I'm Good in Bed", sex references. "Hey What's the Matter", drugs and sex references. "Motorcycle Bitch" sex references. "Smut a song about masturbating in a movie theatre.

The guy that came out dressed bizarrely behind the wall is actually the drummer for the band sky.Hawks are great group.I love them always have ego.Is not a dirty word the top song

Great review! - Bill Fairbanks is a legend and knows his stuff! Skyhooks were one of the two top bands (commercial popularity) in Australia. The other is Sherbet who had some success in the USA. (Skyhooks also had some success in the USA).

Bad luck Molly insisted all the Countdown performances were lip-synchs. The Motels bucked the system to perform Total Control live. Molly freaked out but Martha said it was live or nothing.

My favourite SKY HOOKS song is WOMEN IN UNIFORM more a driving rock song and shows off their musicianship perfectly ,a good song to check out ,also the show they were on COUNT DOWN and its host Ian (MOLLY) Meldrum, was the best show, literally, in the world every icon singer or band from around the world was featured at one time or another on that show , Madonna for example was featured on the show way before she became famous worldwide, as did ABBA, ACDC and a whole lot more, the show had guest co-hosts including Prince Charles now King Charles 111 .

Awesome Australian band the idea was to try to out do each other they tried not to wear the same thing 6 songs from there first recorded wear band from the radio . If you watch horror movie the horror movie is the six o’clock news

Definitely not a radio play band a lot of their songs were banned from airplay but that didn't stop sales they went viral harder back then without radio and tv play - word of mouth and touring!

I liked their music but not my favourite style or genre.......but LIVE !!! They were mesmerising and brilliant infectious energy. In the 1970's i stumbled into The Reefer Cabaret, a church hall ( named Ormond Hall ) that was part of a very elite and EXPENSIVE private Melbourne school The doormen were coppers ( policemen ) charging $5 admission......no alcohol but good quality magical dope was being handed out and free......i think supplied by the coppers, lol. Skyhooks were at their peak and the ONLY band in attendance.....the crowd was less than 100 people but everyone was dancing, often in long chains, everyone was smoking, and no one stopped for hours, when the music stopped. The band were pure good time brilliance, tight musically and " Shirley " Strachan's vocals were per perfect, even if higher than a boy sopranos. Oh.....Strachan is pronounced strawn or strorn , as in storm.
