For me one of the greatest moments is when Craig Lowndes won at Bathurst just after he lost his friend and mentor Peter Brock. It was the first time they presented the Peter Brock trophy (2006) and Jamie Whincup who you saw here was his teammate at the time.

Jamie Whincup is the GOAT of the Supercars series. He has won 7 Championships, 4 Bathurst 1000s, has 124 Race Wins, 87 Pole Positions and 267 Podiums. He retired from full time racing in the series at the end of 2021 and is now in charge of RedBull Ampol Racing (Triple Eight Race Engineering). He is now a co-driver to Broc Feeney (who replaced Whincup) which means he still competes at endurance events. He will compete in the Sandown 500 and the Bathurst 1000 with Broc Feeney later this season👍

Newcastle is my awesome hometown. We're an hour and a bit north of Sydney. Unfortunately we don't host the Supercars here anymore, but the event was very popular with the supercars comminity. Not every day you see a race car weaving around highrise buildings with the best beaches in NSW on the other side 🤩 My dad raced a V8 supersedan at the Newcastle Speedway, so motorsport is in my DNA. I've also worked at several Supercar events. Anyone coming to Australia in October needs to put the Bathurst 1000 on their list! It's truly a breathtaking experience

That tight track was in the centre of Newcastle. Its my home town and I use to live on the inside of the track and I will say. its as tight as it looks. Its so cool to see those cars racing around the streets i used to ride my bike on. Its honestly so cool.

The amount of times Whincup shows up on this video is all you need to know about the man. He dominated an era and come out as the goat. Since retirement he has taken up the ownership of Triple eight (redbull) and still does co-driving for the enduro rounds like Bathurst

Look up Peter Brock's Bathurst win in 1979 also his top ten shoot out qualifying lap in 1979, also talking live while racing in 1986 great classic in car footage with the king of the mountain.

Everytime i see Bathurst it reminds me of my brother and the passion he had for the race. He passed away in 1999. ❤
