She had been working with this, her full-time band, for almost a year at this point. The band was hired after she won Norway's Got Talent at age 8. Let’s analyze the video: 1st you see how small and cute she is. 2nd you see she is barefoot (story below) 3rd You see her making her “Wish List” of suggested changes to the song. 4th the band leader taking note of the changes. 5th Angelina is holding a candle with “Screemin’ Jay Hawkin’s (original artist 1956) picture on it. 6th the old soul in her voice. She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.

A few crazy things include at 9 she knows how to manipulate her mouth and jaw to produce sounds she should not be able to produce. Not only perfect pitch and timing but she does her own arrangements. The greatest performance ever and the band calls her The Boss.

Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on KZfaq. One of the common questions by reactors on hearing her for the first time is something in the order of ..... "Why haven't I heard of her before?" .. the answer is that while she has performed at special and charity events her family has kept her largely out of the limelight .. allowing her to grow up relatively normal (well .. as normal as any prodigy has I suppose). She turned 18 Jan 10th and expect to see her explode on the world stage. There is some question as to how large an explosion that will be .. the crap that people listen to tells me that not everyone can appreciate talent over autotuned garbage.

Masterpiece

There’s a video of Angelina singing with a mic in her crib at 1 1/2 years old. When she was very young she and her grandma Mery would watch KZfaq jazz videos of greats like Billie Holliday and others and then she was enrolled in an after school music program where she learned to read, deconstruct, and rearrange music and play several instruments including the piano and guitar, which she still plays. Angelina has trained her voice 4-6 hours a day every day since she was three years old, the only voice lessons being how to take care of and not damage her throat.She was born with immense talent but also works extremely hard at her craft. A lot of people have the mistaken impression that her abilities are a “gift from God”, when in fact she inherited her musical talent from her mother Sara and has worked her butt off to get where she is. She NEVER gets enough credit for how hard she has worked the last 15 years, she just turned 18.

You can tell people how good she is, but until you hear her, it's kind of hard to believe all the hype. You can introduce her singing at any age and it's the same thing. I think one of the most amazing aspects of this performance at age 9 is,if you follow her before this and after,you realize,that the way she sang on "I Put A Spell On You",that not even her singing style,her style is more refined,more subtle. This shows that even at that early age that she can sing anyway she chooses and still thrive and she's a master at interpreting and capturing the very essence of the song she's singing Angelina Jordan has the potential to be the best even

I've often told people that the only way to explain how she could be so good at whatever age you're watching her is to watch her at a younger age, to see how good she already was then.😊 And if you ask me, it's "turtles all the way down", in that regard. Not that you don't eventually get down to an age where her singing could be (sometimes, at least) fairly described as more or less normal for her age (some stuff at 5-7), but if you keep going all the way down to (as far as we know) the _very first time_ she was recorded singing, at 1½, you can still see (IMO) there was already, at that time, something very special about her. A 2017 magazine article described the moment when her mother discovered Angelina could sing (or, at least, the moment when she discovered she could "really sing", if you get the difference - I don't know whether she ever tried to sing before then). Translated from the original Norwegian: "Oslo, an evening in July 2007: One and a half year-old Angelina is at home with the babysitter. Her mother, Sara Astar, lets herself in and nearly goes into shock when she peeks into the bedroom. In bed sits her daughter mumble-singing Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You.' Angelina Jordan recently turned 18 years old. Please listen to her at the Noble Peace prize concert which was an awesome dedication to imprisoned winner of the Noble Peace prize. Thank you for your enjoyable reaction. This performance by Angelina, who had just recently turned 9 years old, produces the best reactions of any music video on KZfaq, in my opinion. We can spend the remainder of our lives trying to understand how it was possible. Angelina said music found her. No doubt she embraced that gift in all its glory. For me, her music is beyond great because it has improved the quality of my life. I am sure there are other people who would say the same about another artist, but I know there are thousands of others who feel the way I do about Angelina and her music.

OMG... One of my favorite reactors responds to one of my favorite singers! First, I have to mention that I always greatly appreciate your humorous reactions to certain aspects related to Germany -- and now you finally arrived at Angelina Jordan. I'm truly delighted! There are already so many comments that I don't have to add any more information on this incredibly "talented" (if that's even an appropriate term) human being. You could -- and you certainly can -- react to hundreds of her outstanding performances, but if there's only a few of them you would like to pick, I'd recommend "It's a man's world" (the enhanced outoor performance when she was 12 years of age), "I'm still Holding out for You" (a leaked demo version performed at 10) and "Now I'm the Fool" (one of her her original songs: the black-and-white video from last year at 17 years old). However, watching only these three in addition to the two covers you've reacted to already won't do her justice. You decide, but I dare to predict that you'll be pulled into her rabbit hole anyways... Enjoy and be flabbergasted over and over again. I'm looking forward to your next reactions. BTW, goosebumps, tears or any other physical responses are just normal when listenting to the barefooot angel. All best from Germany

Thank you for featuring Angelina again. I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZfaq, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
