I used to see some explaination about the hidden message in the M/V like Jennie was the slave of her love and she wore the maid outfit, she has a broken wing on her tiara. Lisa kicked the door which has the word heaven over it and she closed it. Crying Rosé drove the car with Ego lisence plate to chase after herself and when she sang with her angelic voice the relics was savage and she was floating like an angel. Jisoo in the reflection that you can see she was in an eye and the head piece she had, looked like blood spread in the eye, she was the Goddess of Moon eclipsing the Sun. The explosion scene has the head of Goddess of love, Aphrodite on the ground. It was really fun to see lots of explanations and things we might miss. And if you see behind the scenes, they are adorable and hard working kids.

What makes BP a distinctive group is that each member has a unique musical style and image, the public can easily identify and like one more than the other, but the synergy What they achieve is perfect. Hi , speaking of the explosion, it was indeed a real explosion filmed in slow motion. If you guys check out the behind the scene video, you can see that the girls were all covered in dust in the set after the explosion. And also, this song, which came out in 2019, was later featured in Nicholas Cage's 2022 movie (among other songs) "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent"

All the scenes mean the same thing as the song title: "Kill this love." When Rosé runs over herself, she is killing love, and so is Jisoo when she points the arrow at herself. They don't kill themselves but the love they carry inside. The heart-shaped bear trap is also another allegory to killing love. Then, as the music transforms into a military march, the dancers dressed as soldiers come out and do the final dance to kill love. It goes without saying that the love they want to kill is a toxic love that does not allow them to function as people. It's a good message for young girls today who are exposed to toxic relationships. The behind-the-scenes video is very curious because it shows how they made the explosion. It's fun.

So... as you've noticed, Blackpink's songs contain these two sides (the "sweeter" side and the "badass" side) and it's basically the definition of what Blackpink is. This song, to me, is about trying to Kill This Love in ourselves. Rose and Jisoo, literally killing the side of themselves that Loves. Rose crying while she does it, showing her pain "driving" her to do it. Jisoo coldly stopping herself dead from loving. Awesome video!

The members of Blackpink have stated that "Kill this Love" is about toxic relationships and finding the strength to end these relationships. This is kind of what I said in the babymonster reaction. I like rap. Mainly older stuff. But I think K-pop does a great job of blending it in with amazing vocals which makes non rap fans like it. A whole song of Lisa rapping like the cereal verse you might not love. But with the vocals it just works together.

The song is about getting rid of "loves", or addictions, weaknesses, and the like that are harming one, to be a better, healthier, stronger person. If you re-watch it from this understanding, it makes a lot more sense.

After "Light Up the Sky", the "Kill this Love" video is what got me hooked. Great example of the Black and the Pink. After that I went down the rabbit hole and it was game over. Love BlackPink. Message of this song is toxic love that you need to kill the love/relationship before it kiils you.

What's great about Blackpink and sets them above the rest is obvious with talent, looks, choreography, set design(no green screen) camera work, editing n infusion of different music styles( based on hip hop and R&B) is the message they'll deliver about women empowerment. They use a lot of American metaphors n symbolism. How? Because their producer Teddy Parks is a Korean American rapper from Los Angeles who had to sign a "rap" contract with YG entertainment in S Korea because he couldn't get one in LA, because he wasn't African American. This song is about a toxic and abusive relationships, that is physical and or mental. And that you must kill your weaker self and become this vibrant, confidant n strong woman. Btw, "How you like that" song is similar except in a failed relationship message that you gave 110% effort, but you were cheated on and dumped. You had to realize that it wasn't you that was at fault, but you boyfriend who gave up on a beautiful n vivacious woman. Failed relationships can be depressing and destructive.
