Whenever you do a Bob Seger song, you need to see if it's on Live Bullet. Live Bullet is one of the best albums ever made, let alone one of the best live albums.

Absolutely. But, this is youtube and there is a tendency to use a version with video. But, just playing the best audio available is usually better for those who have an expectation of how it is supposed to sound

This is the Live Bullet version with a different intro probably because he mentions another song in the Live Bullet intro ("Here's another one from '72 also...") which has been given a video. This is definitely the Live Bullet version of the song with some obvious edits, I've heard it dozens of times.

@@suprchickn7745 I didn't say this wasn't Live Bullet. I wasn't lodging a complaint. I'm simply saying whenever any reactor decides to react to a Bob Seger song, the reactor needs to see if it's on Live Bullet and react to it. Same with Kansas and Two For The Show. Same with REO Speedwagon and You Get What You Play For. Same with Foghat and Foghat Live and UFO/Strangers In The Night. There are certain live albums whose sound production are better than the studio versions. But I don't really expect reactors to know or do it. My comments are mainly directed towards listeners who may not know.

Studio versions now use autotune and other tricks / helpers, whereas back in the day, you HAD to have talent to succeed, because not much help existed. Seger's voice has had a change to grow stronger, more controlled, deeper, and richer over the years. The studio version of this was recorded early in his career.

Yeah, Bob's voice definitely changed over time and I liked it more and more as time went on. Maybe it was being on the road and the years of experience. I love literally ANYTHING from Seger, but some favorites are this one, Roll Me Away, Against the Wind, and The Famous Final Scene!! My God, Alto Reed absolutely killed the sax on this one!! Adds so much to the feel of the song. Bob told him to just improv it, imagining standing on a dark, lonely street corner in the rain at 3 am. I think he nailed it! Soulful and almost mournful. Definitely beautiful. 🎷🎶❤ Most of the best LIVE Bullet recordings just show the album cover and are audio only. This particular one you reacted to was a video montage someone made after the fact. I kinda like it because it shows Bob on different stages, with different looks over the years...which really fits the song. 👍💕

Hands down my #1 Seger track, and especially the live version, so thanks for 'indulging' our demands! The studio is still good, but this version just brings the emotion & power to a whole new level. You can almost see/feel the smoky bar halls where this road weary band is belting out this tune. Bob's words really do paint a picture. If there was ever a track that was 'meant' to be done live, it's this one! Cheers.

First... KUDOS and THANK YOU for listening to us!😊 Your first listen was to a horrible and SERIOUSLY WEIRD subdued version. That was torture to hear and watch (NOT YOUR FAULT!!) Anyway, this video that you chose was the actual live audio recording set to a montage of Bob's performances of this song through the years. It's still beautiful, but just wanted you to know and maybe reflect on the vid again. This is footage of Bob through the years while performing this incredible song. If you rewatch it (I sent you the original vid😉), you'll see footage of Bob in the early 70's (I was a baby then! lol!!)... notice his long/hippy hair and take note of the lyric " It's the same old cliche, is that a woman or a man"... Bob was hinting to the stigma that was attached to rock n roll, long hair and being in touch with your feminine side to express yourself as a male in the 70's. KEEP in mind... I was barely a toddler when this song was released. HOWEVER... in 1984 as I entered High School, I truly understood the meaning of this amazing song. Here's the vid we all know and love... kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fbV-oKl00Kmrc5c.html

Thanks for redoing this much appreciated! Like you I'm a huge Seger fan. I was at this concert in 75 in Detroit. I may be a little bias but to me it's one of the best live shows ever recorded just the raw energy of the music was fantastic! Live bullet was the album that broke him into the industry he had been plugging along for years and this put him over the top, Night Moves was a great album but after that he kinda went for Radio hits which you can't blame him but for me personally it sort of took some of the life out of it. I know you've done some full album reactions it would be great if you could do Live bullet. If nothing else at least do the tracks Traveling Man/ Beautiful loser they run together on the album and shouldn't be separated. Again thanks for re-doing this.

I saw Bob Seger in 1978 at Central High School in Bay City Michigan. It was an all day concert to raise money for the high school sports programs. The line up was Fire Fall, Brownsville Station, Van Halen and Bob Seger. It was an extraordinary day of music! There was 25,000 people packing the stadium that normally held 7,500. There are photos on line of this show. It was incredible! Seger put on a fantastic performance. BTW, I didn’t really know who Van Halen was until they started playing “Running With The Devil”… I remember thinking oooohhhh, that’s who this is!

I was just 10 or 11 years old when my cousin who was a few years older than me, was at our house doing some outside work for my parents. He was listening to his transistor radio as he worked. This was the summer of 1966 or 1967. On comes this song by a new Detroit singer (Bob Seger). The song is called “Heavy Music”. My young self went nuts and it was my introduction to what used to be called “underground” music. (Underground music was not heard on mainstream radio) As young as I was, I was hooked on hard rock from that time on. You hardly ever hear this song anymore, but I would love to hear your reaction to it. My favorite version is the original studio version, part 1. It’s only 2:40 minutes, but amazing!!! Disclosure: I grew up and have lived most of my life in the metro Detroit area, so I’m a little partial to all things Bob Seger!
