De André is from Genova, Italy, in Liguria (the same region from Pixar's Luca lol). This song is a ballad, De André usually took inspiration from ancient popular ballads or poetry. If you want to listen to some more "typical" song from De André you have to listen to Dolcenera!

as you can imagine you are my go to after a couple of glasses of wine. There's a bank holiday here in London - I am allowed ;). Between all of my recommendations I would like to add Fabrizio de Andrè - La guerra di Piero. The only song that actually made me cry when I was little and literally this year as well. It talks about world war I and war at large from the point of view of a human soldier. Wish that song should be taught in school all over this dreadful planet.

De André is from Liguria region. The ligurians were a celtic tribe settled in north west Italy before the Roman expansion and Christianity.
