So who guarantees that margin? Do they have an insurance, or the broker gets a long position himself? Because when they win, someone has to pay that margin. Either they know 100% that the can find other long positions that match that short, or if they find none, they have to fill in the gap. Either way, de facto, someone has to have that opposing long position. Whether it's another party, the broker itself, or some sort of insurance.

This was all planned by BlackRock and all those guys that deal with the Reserve. They did the same thing with Pokerstars in the mid 2000's and the same companies are involved. Pokerstars was shut down in the U.S. by the department of justice and they walked everyone's money. If you go on Reddit including myself we’re all now holding our shares even when the price dropped down to show platforms like Robinhood they won’t get away with this type of nonsense & that we are going to finish this short squeeze on these stocks that are being shorted heavily by hedge funds.

Everyone’s money goes in a pot. Buy sell doesn’t matter. Stock goes up the sell money stays but belongs to the buyers. Stock goes down buy money stays but it goes to the seller.

Short sellers borrow 'stocks' not money, and promise to return the same number of stocks within a certain time. They sell the stocks they borrowed for one amount and hope the cost of the stock goes down so that they can buy back the stocks they have just sold for less than they sold them for. They must return to the broker the original number of stocks that were borrowed, usually by a specified date. So, for a simple example: I borrow a single stock worth $10.00 from my broker and sell it at $10.00. So right now I have $10.00 to play with. I want the price to go down. It goes down as I planned, and I buy the stock back for $5.00. I return the one 'stock' I borrowed to the broker and pocket $5.00 out of the original $10.00 I sold the borrowed stock for. The broker only asks you to return the same number of stocks, not what the stock was worth when you borrowed it. If I borrowed a library book sold it for $10.00 then found the same book for $5.00 and returned it I would also make $5.00 but not legally, because I never had the right to sell the borrowed book. Stocks seem to be the only borrowed item you can do this with.🧐 And it is usually borrowed in bulk in order to flood the market with the stock and artificially drive the price down. The reddit guys didn't like that kind of financial bullying for profit. BTW the brokers will usually buy some of that stock that they know has been artificially lowered by the short sellers and they mutually profit from the manipulation of the stock as it rises back to its true value.

Short selling means the stock will necessarily be sold at a discount (thus the price drops) to the market in order for the loser to cover his bad decision. Don't play any game if you don't understand the rules. There's no shenanigans, that's how it's done.

You need the account number from robinhood and a statement. If you have not had robinhood for a month and dont have a statement you maybe stuck until statement is available.
