They are relying on Truex and 23xi more. Truex has a Bass Pro Shops sponsor deal, his contract extension was announced around the same time it was announced MM would leave Busch. 23xi has the most marketable driver and a Monster Energy driver.

I think it's just too many moving parts. Toyota couldn't sink the resources into a single driver when the Gibbs talent pool is so deep and JGR did their best to land a major sponsor and the deal fell apart and by the time it did, they decided to roll with plan B. Truex deciding to come back really threw a hitch in Kyle's staying plans I think as they were probably gonna slot Ty in the 19 and maybe eventually swap him in the 18 down the road. JGR has already regretted 2 departures in the last decade or so, about to become a 3rd.

@@steventweed3599 I think both are valid points. In the short run I think Toyota was over-saturated with talent but Kyle's gonna hurt in the short run, long run losing that reliable KBM pipeline will be tough as well. It's a good thought to consider as it's a huge blow on both levels. Toyota was very much wanting to keep Kyle but it vibes like JGR was just ready to move on and probably was the hurdle that couldn't be overcome.

I think it's because that situation hits close to home for him which made him careful about it. Denny Hamlin was playing checkers while Richard Childress is playing Chess. That's why Richard Childress will keep Reddick instead of cutting him loose early because it's the ultimate payback to Toyota. In terms of sponsorship Joe Gibbs did not make an effort to keep Kyle and Toyota barely made a slightly better effort and this is proven because earlier today Adam Stern reported that multiple sponsors have already contacted Richard Childress racing in regards to sponsoring Kyle Busch's #8 car for the 2023 season. If this was able to happen with Richard Childress, there is no doubt in my mind that Joe Gibbs would have had the same result but clearly the same effort was not put in by Joe Gibbs as it was by Richard Childress!!!

In defense of Toyota, I don't think Toyota corporate was willing to spend an ADDITIONAL $20M (estimated budget hole left by Mars) or so just to keep one driver. That's $20M in addition to the rest of their investment in the sport. Yes, they're a major part of KBM, but they weren't fully sponsoring trucks every single race, let alone cup cars. Toyota also spends a ton of money developing talent that tends to find its way elsewhere due to lack of Toyota seats.

Toyota has nothing to do with driver salary. Jgr is at fault, they didn't try hard enough to find sponsorship. Sponsorships pay driver salaries. Jgr even told Kyle the 18 is no longer a option when ty Gibbs made starts in cup. He ran well enough that they didn't need to wait a year. Guarantee that ty gibbs will be in 18 next year. He's cheaper and Joe Gibbs gets his grandson in the 18 car. It was planned because ty wasn't the replacement for kurt. It was John Hunter
@RedWingsninetyone
@RedWingsninetyone Жыл бұрын
@@coreyhess8721 I agree with all of that to an extent. My point was simply on the notion that Toyota could have kept Kyle if they wanted to, which a lot of people are arguing. The only way they could have truly done that is to become the primary sponsor, which is where my above statement comes in. But, you're correct that, outside of that, it's all on JGR. It became clear through negotiations that JGR and Kyle were far apart and JGR began looking to the much cheaper future.

Hey panzer this is Jeff Yoder the ol'broke down scooter tramp, exbiker, Vietnam 🇻🇳 Era veteran, and I agree with your comments 💯 percent and I'm thinking it might be because he might have wanted to be up for at least a chance to replace Kyle at JGR but if JGR is going to go possibly Ty Gibbs into the 18 along with Truex possibly staying in the 19 through the 2023 season with his sponsorship Toyota ends up still having JGR as a at least a 2car team with plenty of wiggle room to help pay to keep Truex and Ty Gibbs and still have a connection with JGR'S truck and xfinity teams for driver development possibilities and a direct ladder to the Cup series up through the trucks and xfinity series all connected through a one team owner for each of the top 3 Nascar series therefore the trading of information that could help each of the teams and drivers of each team in a sort of built-in R&D and veteran helping the up and coming star programs that would be a continuous revolving source of Cup series ready drivers for JGR who have always somehow been able to find talented up and coming drivers who only need some seasoning for a couple of years to be Cup series ready going all the way back to when Kyle left RCR the first time and Truex became available in the same general time period after Bobby Labonte left and then Tony Stewart left after Kyle and Truex had moved from up and comers to being on the edge of being able to have winning seasons and winning championships, so I'm thinking it wouldn't be much of a stretch to think that the "Coach" and Toyota are thinking that they might be ahead of the game letting Kyle go and spending the money Kyle was asking for on signing Ty and chipping in on the Truex thing to take advantage of keeping a driver very capable of winning a Championship next season and having him around as a sort of built-in tutor for Ty in his sophomore season and starting the revolving feeder program for Cup ready drivers that JGR is already not too far from having set up what with having teams in Cup,trucks and xfinity series each especially if Toyota shows much of any interest in staying in Nascar for slightly less money than it would have been to try to keep Kyle and Ty, and ensure being able to possibly keep Truex beyond the end of next season

Hey y'all it's me Jeff Yoder the ol'broke down scooter, exbiker, Vietnam 🇻🇳 Era veteran and I'm not claiming to be an expert and welcome any and all opinions any of y'all might have where this whole JGR, RCR, KBM thing might be taking Nascar and I'm even wondering about what might be happening with Hendrick Motorcars I guess it's called these days I mean given that Rick Hendrick has pretty much always let his drivers race each other what would happen if Larson ,Elliott, Boyer, and Harvick would end up all racing each other who's likely to be told to help their teammates when the chance happens? Cause clearly Chevy is backing Hendrick Racing as much as they are RCR but with Kyle now at RCR for a while and I'm thinking Austin Dillon being a strong contender for RCR'S 3rd team for a while and Harvick hinting at retiring how much will Chevy try to keep Harvick around as a possible tutor for Austin for a couple of years or Does RCR let Kyle make a run for a championship and be a tutor for Austin and possibly his brother Ty Dillon , being a Kyle fan and a big Harvick fan I for one 1⃣ would like to see RCR let Harvick finish out his career with RCR since they have stuck with him during his ups and downs the last few years, why not stick with the guy who you picked to help get you through probably the worst possible situation you could ever have been put into and he's been mister reliable and at times the true finisher that earned him that nickname on top of "Happy Harvick, basically I'm thinking Harvick has earned the right to step out of the more than big shoes he stepped into 20years ago and I for one 1⃣ think he's done a pretty Damn good job of filling those shoes respectfully and honorably for the whole last 20years that he's been with RCR

can't believe they let that guy in a xfinity car . The skill level in xfinity, cup nascar has fallen back to the days of spinning spencer ( chastain) most drivers on the track even with an open track cannot pass for the lead without wrecking or nearly wrecking the other opponent .

All these podcasts, everyone wants to be a commentator of some kind, but in reality they are just a bunch of want-a-be's all sitting around trying to sound intelligent talking about yesterday's news. We used to make fun of women sitting around gossiping, now people gather around their phones hoping to glean some tidbit of prevalent information.

Everyone is so scared to talk about the white elephant in the room being Kyle's smart a## mouth and the way he talks to the team when he's pissed off. I think parking his broken car on pit road and walking away was the final straw with M&M, Joe and maybe even Toyota. He's not a good roll model thats for sure. Kyle Petty talked about it in a roundabout way a few weeks ago, but no one has the balls to call it like it is.

RCR should have let Dillon go, signed Reddick to a long term contract and then signed KB. While AD does have some driving talent, he is nowhere near the level of Reddick or KB.

@@CJODell12 … AD was never going anywhere. But yes, but even Granddaddy Richard can see the talent that Busch brings to the #8 team. He consulted Chevy brass to make this huge undertaking a reality. KBM will be Chevy’s premier truck team…

@@twoblacklabs904 While I am not the worlds biggest KB fan, they should put him in the #3. The number #3 (then after Dale the #29) has always been viewed as the top car for RCR. Put your biggest, best driver in your top car. Pretty sure they would have a top sponsor for a long term deal if they did that.

Kyle barely has one win this year. His cliff is coming. It always happens after the 16th season!
@BkBk-gy6vr

Yes his cliff already started last year hes not running as well as he use to and he isnt winning like he use too. Gibbs has solid equipment maybe not the best but easliy good enough to run up front and win with. His brother went downhill at a similar age and they are brothers so reflexes, sight and nerves will start to go at a similar age. He will come out strong with RCR but it wont last.

@@BkBk-gy6vr Yeah, seems fair on the surface, but Kyle fell off in 2020 when they took away the 3-4 hours of practice every week that he needed to get the car closer to his liking. Dude is still good, but the people JGR put him with are just not on that same level.
