I wasn't a huge Old Town Road fan BUT after Montero (CMBYN) and Industry Baby I stan and love Lil Nas X. He's so creative and brave and his new (first) album is amazing, I was expecting liking a lot of the songs but it is even better than I expect it :B

You'll probably want to learn more about Lil Nas X's discography. After "Old Town Road" he released an EP ("7"). Then "Holiday" (still a standalone single), then on September 17, 2021, "Montero." He has released 7 additional music videos to go along with his singles: "Panini" and "Rodeo" (from the EP), "Holiday," and 4 from the album (so far): "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)," "Sun Goes Down," "Industry Baby," and "That's What I Want." It's probably best to take a tour through the singles via the music videos, then run back for the "deep tracks." Have fun!

To be honest, I respect Lil Nas X a lot but his music just isn't to my personal taste. That said, I liked the way this song tried to blend hip hop and country styles in an interesting way.

Not going to lie, I don’t really like this song much, not because I think it’s objectively bad, but it was just soooo overplayed. However, his new music/videos are really cool. They’re very creative, push boundaries, and really make an effort to represent his experience as a black, gay man in America. I’d love to see you react to Industry Baby (and the prelude, which is a separate video, but really gives context to the Industry Baby music video)

Lil Nas can pull of a lot of styles. Cowboy-suit, pink prison-suit, NO suit... 😁 Edit: I do like the song "Industy Baby" as well as "What I want". Both are good, even without the videos. *I* find the videos good (or hilarious in one case 😁) but the songs can stand on their own for me. ("Montero" is okay, I guess... not my personal favorite). I wouldn't buy his album, but he's good and I like him and his approach to creating talk.

I’m a long time rock/metal fan, and only heard this song in the late summer. I’d gotten into his more current stuff, and finally went back to check out his breakthrough. I think he’s been influenced by a little bit of everything, tbh. His song Panini includes an interpolation of Nirvana’s In Bloom. The bear for Old Town Road was sampled (not by LNX-he bought the beat) from a Nine Inch Nails track. He was listening to a Panic! at The Disco song in one live clip I saw. He clearly listens to, and knows, a lot of rap. When it comes to his own music, he has a freakish gift for creating catchy songs and books. He’s incredibly good at it. If you have the time, I recommend watching the interview he did with Zane Lowe of Apple Music. The last segment, when his producers join them, says a lot about his innate understanding of music. I don’t listen to pop or hip hop, but I’m a big fan of LNX. He’s just got something.

You asked the question about who shot the video. Not sure who did the camera work but someone named Calmatic directed it. Billboard decided not to put it on the country charts because country rap didn’t fit into its definition of country music.

Not that I had all that much respect for Billy Ray before this, but what small amount was there is gone. My first ever thumbs down on a youtube video. I don't think that Nas X guy should be given any attention at all, so I can't approve of a reaction that features him. Love your channel, but not this time.

If anything, this made me have MORE respect for Billy. When OTR was originally booted off of the country charts for not being "country enough" Billy offered to jump on a remix. His involvement helped it get back on the charts.
