'Be calm' is a song Hwasa wrote for her late uncle, he helped her a lot financially when she went to Seoul to debut as singer. She said he was like a father for her and when he passed away in a car accident Hwasa had really a hard time. The lyrics of this songs are so gorgeous, Hwasa is such an amazing lyricist. Funny facts, the kid in the mv is Park Woo Sang soon (PWS is a rbw producer and he's the one who created Hwasa mini album 'Maria' with her). PWS is also the man who filmed 'Be calm' mv, they literally spent only few wons and it was filmed in Hwasa old neighborhood and in her house.

LMM = Lost My Mind. Hwasa said one day after work she went home and suddenly had hard time breathing and she cried a lot, she felt uneasy about her future and couldn't think of anything happy. She felt like throwing up and just wanted to run away. She wrote how she felt in LMM lyrics. In the mv she's just living her life when those arrows appears, there is this constant presence of arrows but not at night, when ppl are sleeping she's free from the unjustified hate they throw at her. Some arrows enter even in the place she is living, so she decides to go away from that place. The only arrow able to reach her body is the one she shoots herself, stabbing her in the back. Basically it means she's not hurt at all by what people say about her, what really destroys her is self-criticism, when she treats herself badly. You never see her running away or panicking, she doesn't fall down even when that arrow hits her back. In that moment she decides to go back to her place and faces head on those arrows. The amount of arrows keep on growing and in the end they are so many to cover the sky, but none of them can touch Hwasa. In the last scene she's unharmed surrounded by arrows, it's almost like those arrows created a flowery meadow. Calling back the phrase that open the mv "Flowers do bloom even in rain falling down". Hwasa symbol is a flower and those arrows raining down are the hate people keep throwing at her, so this means I will bloom even if you keep on hating me.

LMM is such an absolute masterpiece because you're not only just listening to the song but also feeling the "emotional" and her vulnerability as well. The song becomes a part of you and you becomes the part of the song. Even if you don't know the lyrics, it still hits you regardless you knowing the lyrics or not and makes you emotional every time you hear it. And that's the moment when you know the song is really THAT good.

LMM, lost my mind. A lot of people miss, whee comfort me. The arrows from other haters miss, the only person that can hurt her is herself.

Hwasa only has one album thus far, but you can tell that she will be very successful as a solo artist in the future. She's not only a great vocalist but she also can write songs with lyrics that speak from the heart. I hope she will stay with Mamamoo, but RBW also lets her release an album annually so we can be blessed with the gift of her songs.

LMM is my personal SOTY. In the Fall is on my list of most overlooked songs of the year. Be Calm is the ult comfort song. Add in City of Stars and you have a perfect mini-mixtape showing Mamamoo's goddess tier talent and demonstrating how they're unlike any girl group that ever existed using only a few songs by one of the members. I’m also a complete and total simp when it comes to my ultimate bias, and I just really needed you to see the other many facets of Hwasa’s personality and music. She’s most often known for her fierce, aggressive and sexy bops like Twit and Maria, but what most people don’t pay enough attention to is her softer side and real vocal prowess and control. It’s like you said, when she’s singing these different types of ballads, she has such power and emotion that she just really makes you feel things with her voice and just takes you places you never even dreamed of. I’ve been lost in her voice since I discovered Be Calm, and now she just has me for life. I’m also just a simp for her higher register, and every time she goes into those magnificent runs in Lmm and In the Fall I just get chills. Then you have the powerful side of her vocals in Be Calm and the jazzy side from City of Stars, and I just can’t. I just worship the many things she can do with her voice so effortlessly, and that’s why she’s my forever queen. 7:32 the scene where the arrows feathers look like flowers has so many meanings one of them gives the message that everyone thinks Idols are surrounded by flowers when in reality these are the arrows shot at her

LMM is just ... that song and that MV. Of 2020, this made me cry the most. I cried for so long after I watched it, good lord. She has this way with her voice that just brings up emotions I didn't even know were there. And then that MV. When she was shot, as well as when she almost cried.. OMG. It has a very powerful message though. Only you can truly hurt yourself. All the hate you receive from others will just wash off like rain. And even in rain... flowers bloom

...just a day late, so i'm expecting a fair bit of this to already be brought up in the comments but still... "lmm" always makes me tear up... i love and hate that song so much. love it because it is absolutely gorgeous and also just such a raw peek into hyejin that you don't get to see much of with any artist. and hate because it has to exist in the first place... the song, like "maria", is literally about her struggling with all the undeserved hate she constantly gets, how it's affecting her. the arrows are hate comments directed at her and the only one that has any effect is the one she fired herself, when you finally start believing some of the stuff said about/to you the self-hate is the only thing that really hurts... "be calm" was hwasa's solo on the 'yellow flower' album (the one with "starry night", you could hear part of this at the end of that one...ha, as you noticed just as i typed it). the korean title apparently translates more directly to 'becoming numb' and she wrote the song to help with the grieving process over losing her uncle, who was like a second father to her. the song is also one of my go tos both for 'i need a good cry' and 'i need something relaxing' moments the mv was filmed by park woosang, one of rbw's more prominent producers, who has worked on quite a few of mamamoo's songs (and earned the title 'god woosang', even from mamamoo members). hwasa learned he had taken up videography as a hobby and convinced him to shoot an mv for "be calm". after that, byul got him to do an mv for "in my room" and then he followed up with two for wheein, the acoustic version of her song "easy" and the more recent mv for "25", which looks to be the biggest budget of all his mvs so far. not at all bad for someone who only really does the video stuff as a hobby. we're hoping to get a pws-directed mv for one of solar's future songs, just to have a full set... his style so far has been perfect for the sadder, more introspective songs the members have all released also, hwasa got listed as the stylist in the mv's credits, too, though used her real name there woogie is a producer with higher one, a hiphop and r&b label, so you're... mostly right, i guess? he's done quite a lot of work with them and other artists (including "don't" with loco and hwasa). there's actually at least one more version of "in the fall" that is done on 1thek's 'vocals only live'. very much worth checking out, as is wheein's "goodbye" on the same program. both of them are just breathtaking (and someone's edit combining the pictures of the two from those performances has been my desktop background ever since i saw that edit on twitter) and last up, "city of stars"... this was one of her yearly gifts to moomoos on her birthday, most of which don't get their own mvs. the song itself is from the movie 'la la land'. and yeah, that's hwasa and wheein together at the beach in the background picture. she's has to sleep wheein into anything she has the tiniest chance to. the quote at the end was aimed at moomoos, since this was a birthday gift, but a lot of people take it to be aimed at wheein, as well "city of stars" is something i go back to at least once a week, often more. any time it shows up suggested i have to watch it. also, i agree with you... i'm glad i never heard the original version of this song and have zero intentions to hear it after hwasa's version. hers is the only one that matters to me also, everything you've said about what listening to hwasa does for you throughout this video is pretty much exactly me with her best friend. i listen to the solo work of all four members, but looking through my playlists, it is very heavily wheein-biased. (that said, moonbyul's solos need some love. their views go up so freaking slowly)

My guy, you gotta listen to full mini albums. Yellow Flower, the 4 Seasons, 4 Colors album that represents Hwasa, is a no skip banger of an album and 4 out of 6 songs have MVs! Mamamoo really killed it with 4S4C and my 2021 wish is that people take the time to listen to the b-sides because they will make you love Mamamoo even more. Even I will be doing this by giving Memory and Melting another listen because they're my least favorite Mamamoo albums and I've been giving Red Moon and Reality In Black most of my love lately.
