You can usually tell the difference between the studio track and these "recorded live for TV" versions because on the live versions Scott usually throws in more riffs. This was written by Kirstie with three outside songwriters / producers.

This song hits home so well. For some reason their original songs, which I love, are not what most people seem to want. Covers and Christmas, but we know PTX is so much more than that.

THIS is one of those songs, that if you had no idea it was live, you'd think it was recorded in a studio and be on your merry way. The Christmas special version of Hallelujah is like that, it literally sounds no different than the studio except for 1 or 3 spots. THAT'S how good they are. I do love this song, it's uplifting and edifying. They all did amazing. Scott and his riffs and runs... it's stuff of legends lol

For about 5 years we all knew her as Kirstie (as she said, like "Thirsty"). When she put out her solo album, she used the name Kirstin. So if you call her by either of those, we don't care - as long as it's not Kristin or Keersten, as many reactors do. Then you'll probably hear about it. Great reaction to a beautiful, very meaningful song.

This is one of those "pandemic live" performances. They were invited to debut this song on the Kelly Clarkson Show. In the past, they would simply be performing the song live on the show. Due to pandemic restrictions, PTX would record a brand new performance together and send that video to the talk show. To make it more visually interesting, they had their video folks do some fancy editing. Later, they posted an alternate cut of the video as their official music video. They did something similar for the Jimmy Kimmel show with the song The Lucky Ones. "Love Me When I Don't" was my first favourite track when I heard the album for the first time. Awesome lyrics and melody..

As mentioned in earlier posts, Live means live vocals. Most official music videos are them lip-syncing to their own studio recorded track, but if you see them with microphones (Gold, Jolene, etc), they are singing live (although that doesn't necessarily preclude backing body/percussion track...as in this one, the clapping is all from track..and i think similar for the live video of "I saw three ships")

Great reaction! This is not an official music video, that was their performance for the Kelly Clarkson Show. They sang it live a bunch of times, and then the video was edited in post production. I personally prefer the album version, because this live version lacks some of the cool Mitch ad-libs. An interesting fact: Scott often adds extra riffs whenever they do live-on-TV performance to show it's live, because they are always so good live, a lot of people think it's studio recording. This whole album is amazing!

Hello Salvo G. Isn't this just great !! Kirstie staring off so nice and strong. Her sign on her dressing room for the Evergreen Tour had Kirstie written on it, so calling her Kirstie should be fine. I had to smile when you paused as soon as Mitch started to sing and said "I'm not ready, I'm not ready, I'm not ready" - was that for Mitch? - LOL.....are we ever really ready for when Mitch sings - his vice is just golden. And then when he sang again...you said ..."Again!" - I feel you - just can't get enough of hearing Mitch sing. Hearing him sing every time is like hearing him sing for the first time. Loved your response when Matt started - you were not expecting that - he is smooth and warm. Kevin beat boxing and whoohsing sounds - just phenomenal. Then Scott coming in with that pop sound and his riffing. This is such a good song. Great lyrics. I see others answered your questions on the video and videography. Please do finish up The Lucky Ones Album - let us celebrate PTXs 10th Anniversary with them!! 11th Anniversary is just a couple of months away and new music may be coming. I already sent you a loooong list. Great reaction as always.

Either works for Kirstin. When they first started she was "Kirstie" which was apparently her childhood nickname. This is the time period of the Starships video. After a few years she went through that phase so many people with nicknames do where she wanted to sound more grown-up and she started being listed as "Kirstin" on everything. The band never quite got with that and continued calling her Kirstie more often than not. More recently it just seems like whichever. People have said already... it isn't PTX that's blocking the videos. The problem is that they're on a huge label (RCA) with a big legal team (SME = Sony Music Entertainment). Their success is reactors' nightmare. Their contract is up this month and they're shopping around for the first time in 8 years. With any luck, they can find something that is beneficial for everyone. They already switched management to get representation more willing to shop them as a pop group (instead of a niche a capella group) with the intent of breaking down those final mainstream barriers like radio. And the new management got them a ton of exposure over the holidays with a dozen or more TV and holiday gigs... so hopefully they can continue that. Right now, being between contracts and with Kirstin pregnant, they're laying kind of low publicly. I heard they're working on a ton of things behind the scenes, though.

Kirstie...she even rapped out that we can call her Kirstie in a song on their first album (I think the song is "Starships") They shot videos for their new original album THE LUCK ONES during the pandemic. As for what to see next, I look forward to your reactions to my three favorite songs on the album, none of which have an official video (Yay! Not block-worthy). "Never Gonna Cry Again" is a Mitch song (he co-wrote it), and "Bored" and "Petals" both feature Scott (with supporting vocals from Kirstin and Mitch). A caveat: "Petals" has a lot of synthesizer in it, and is probably the farthest they've ever stretched on one off their albums. But it is a great track with a great beat, and should have had some radio play.

If the video says "live", it is a video of them actually singing what you are watching. If it is a typical "official video", the sound is the studio version. They are extremely talented at lip syncing, but I think they usually sing along with the recording when doing an official video. I sincerely hope that everyone has someone in their life that mirrors the lyrics in this song. I love "Happy Now" as well. Whether break up or loss, at some point we have to allow ourselves to be happy again.
@mmg8823
@mmg8823 2 жыл бұрын
I believe it is standard for bands to record the audio in the studio and lip sync while filming the video elsewhere. As Scott said when they accepted the Grammy for Daft Punk, they recorded it in a bedroom closet and filmed it in the kitchen. At the risk of sounding sacrilegious, I suspect that many of their "covid live" performances were lip synced including this one. Looking at their European schedule for 2023, I don't see how they can keep up if they don't use pre-recorded background harmonies. 18 shows in 31 days? That's insane. Their vocal cords would be in shreds. But, any lip syncing they do is lip syncing to their own voices.
@ellenhulslander2897
@ellenhulslander2897 2 жыл бұрын
@@mmg8823 , they lip sync to their videos, but to the best of my knowledge, they do not for lives. I think their latest album and Christmas album, have background tracks that they will sing along with, but not lip sync to.

There are three tracks from this album that are live vocals with video added afterward. C*VID really screwed up their carefully laid plans for this album, and the new management team went all-in to get exposure. That they had (at least) three songs from the album on various TV shows, and the first two released tracks from the album had videos as well. "Happy Now" was recorded pre-quarantine, and "Be My Eyes" was recorded individually and assembled, like the songs on the 2020 "At Home" EP.

Totally here for this one! Very uplifting song! Kirstie is what the group calls her on a regular basis, but I call her both. They filmed it live, they were all standing there all together. After they did the performance for whatever show it was, they made a music video out of it with all the edits. After the official video came out, they pulled the live performance off KZfaq where they were all standing still next to each other singing live. Can't find it out there at all any longer. It was a live performance that they made an official video afterward. Thank you so much for all your content!

The blocking of videos by KZfaq seems to be quite random and every reactor mentions different experiences regarding which videos get blocked, which is why there isn't a consistent approach for dealing with them. I think music labels do this because they have to actively enforce their copyrights in order to maintain them. A few things I've noticed though -> the newer the song release, the more likely for it to get a block which is why the latest Christmas album videos are high on that list - they also want to encourage people to watch the original videos to add to the view counts. There might even be a blocking algorithm. The pre-2014 (pre-RCA official label) songs are rarely blocked. I don't think non-album songs (e.g. medleys, Evolution Of) are ever blocked. Live performances are never blocked. Performance clips from The Sing-Off are not blocked probably because NBC has deemed them not worth the effort to do so.

I'm not sure how the blocking rules work, but for many "intellectual property" rules the problem is that if they let people use their content too often the song (video, film) could go into public domain and they would lose the rights.

Every song on The Lucky Ones should have gotten airplay on every pop station. What they do is at least as good if not better than Taylor Swift, Pink, Bieber or any other pop artist. This is why I don't listen to music radio much anymore. If I want music I listen to PTX, movie sound tracks, Peter Hollins and a few others.

ptx has no say in vids getting taken down. they LOVE ppl reacting to their vids but unfortunately their current label (rca/sony) is just awful. it says live because it was aired live for the first time on some talk show while people were social distancing more. the album version is slightly different, but there is no official video for it.
