Dan there are a million of Filipinos who can sing and do it as pastime... some pursue it as career... some are lucky enough to end up as real singers... Filipino singers are scattered all over the world you mostly can catch them in most popular hotels and cruise ships... they are our ambassadors of goodwill to the world.... and as a Filipino I am so proud of them.

John Lloyd Talonding is his name, he was featured on Ellen too. He's not that famous now because he does not want to be famous and he only wants simple life. He is mostly using his talent to sing in church. And by the way, a few weeks after that cover got famous, his father passed away. I still cry when I watch this video 😭

They're cousins The younger boy's father was sick with cancer which was why he was full of emotions when he sang that. He had actually dedicated that song to his father who died soon after. It was sad but lovely too since the young loved his father so much.

Hi Dan! Just some correction on the correct usage of our demonym. We are "Filipino" or "Pilipino" (Tagalog), not Philipino. "Filipino" can also be used for masculine/neutral, and "Filipina" for feminine. You may also use "Pinoy" (colloquial masculine/neutral) and "Pinay" (colloquial feminine). You may also use another demonym such as "Philippine" boy or Philippine girl. Cheers!

I just would like to say that tagalog and filipino are two distinct languages: the former is regional, and the latter is national. Tagalog is considered dialect which for me is unjustified under the law of nature; creating an artificial hierarchy between things is unnatural. Under quantum physics, sounds are made of the same thing. Finally, filipino and pilipino are mere two words referring to same thing, only that former made official due to a recognition made by the 1987 constitution for official business.
